I played APB since open beta, and RTW had their first Open Beta event. Besides all the cheaters, hacks, and Real Time World destroying APB with Punk Buster I enjoyed it, and it was a great game.
** I miss the Dump Trucks & I wish they would add Bus, and Motorcycles.**
My experience with Gamers First is not that good, and I will explain why I have my doubts about APB, I just hope I am wrong.
I believe it was back in 2008 when I first started playing (Sword OF The New World), and I put over $150,maybe even $200 into the game, and the cash shop buying costumes, and equipping my characters with really nice costumes before they made costume changes, which I did not like, and I quit the game. I also tried War Rock around this time, and the game was full of cheaters, and exploiters constantly cheating the game, so I quit that too, and did not really log into the game accounts for knows how long.
Anyways Back in 2010, I decided to check out (Sword OF The New World), and see if the game got any better, but turns out since the service became merged all into gamers first Login, I forgot my password, and could not get back in. I managed to reset it because I still had it registered under my active email account, but then I had a random Letter/Number Password, and I tried to change my old password, but couldn't remember my secret question, so I filed two tickets, asking for support to reset, or recover my secret question. Anyways After waiting at least over 3 days for support to get back to me, they told me they could not help me because I was a free account, and I was not a premium account, and they don't provide support for free games. I have never seen a Premium Account/Subscribe option besides buying G1 Coins, and paying for XP Booster/Premium service in game if that is what they were talking about, but they way they told me was quite confusing, and left me shocked at what was I suppose to do to get my account back with all my paid cash shop items still there, most of them never used. Anyways after days hours of looking between a few days, I found an old archived file on my PC with the secret question in it, which I wrote down on an external drive for my gamers first account, and it was thanks to this that I got my account password changed to my own.
Now my Concerns for APB Reloaded, it seems that my questions which are valid questions that should be answered were erased after asking them on their questions site.
1. Will they provide better Customer Service than what I experienced with their service in the past to Free Players, or even those who have spent money?
2. Will Gamers First, TOS/Agreement for APB say that it is installing Punk Buster before it installs it, and ask us to agree to installing Punk Buster, back when I first played APB, I went to log in, and it installed punk buster into my computer without asking, and it was also not in RTW's original agreement.
3. Will they actually do their best to ban cheaters, and exploiters, I remember installing War Rock in 2010, and playing that game just to see if it had improved any at all and it was full of Aimbotters, and cheaters.
4. Will they make this game to benefit people who use the cash shop like Nexon, and Crime Craft does, because I remember when I signed up for Nexon, and Crime Craft I was told it was going to be an actual game of skill not who spent how much money and such, but both these games went down hill bad from my experience in these.
5. Are we going to be able to use our old Data that was stored on RTW's Servers? Because I had months of game time on my account never used, and I am just curious.
Anyone have any Details on any of these questions I ask here?
Comments
1. Reading what you said about your past experiences... that was you're fault for not remembering your password. If retrieving a password was made so easy, it would be easily exploited.
2. Punkbuster is a anticheat system. Gamersfirst said on their forums that they were going to actually use it (it was there but not used in original APB). If you want to play the game, you have to install it. It's part of the game. Other games dont ask you if you wish to install gameguard or anything of the kind. They just install it because you can't start the game without it. That would actually tie in to your 3rd question.
3. Gamersfirst said they're going to crack down on the hacking. But only time will tell. Every game says they'll crack down but how they implement it is another issue.
4. They said that cash shop is supposed to be like some customizations... so I'm thinking cash exclusive decals? Since this game is pretty much built on customization....
5. RTW characters were supposed to be restored on the final release... they said the achievments and RTW points wont be restored though...
All this is from memory from browsing around on gamersfirst APB forums...
#4. I don't know if you are actually targetting another game but i have played nexons Maplestory and i really dont think that cash shop makes any big differences and gives the people who purchase cs items a huge advantage.
But anyway, in apb reloaded they said that you could only purchase cosmetic stuff for real money.
Firstly, RTW didnt destroy APB with PB. PB was not only turned off as quickly as it was turned on, when RTW did coordinated with PB to get it to work in a haphazzardly way, there weren't bans anyway. And that's what I belive I recall reading from one of the GamersFirst Blogs about "Reloaded".
APB was one of the best third-person shooters I recall ever playing, though that fun-factor did very quickly decline for me and the vast majority of subscribers within a couple of months when it was clearly evident that RTW was not aggressively targeting and ridding cheaters/hackers from their game.
But to address your questions:
1. I hope GF does provide better CS. It's theirs to win or lose, and they are painting a positive picture from their copy-writing in their update Blogs.
2. I really dont care. I still have PB on my system, but if there is a better means to identify, track, validate and get rid of cheaters/hackers, I'm all for it.
3. Again, see #2. GF is painting a positive picture from their copy-writing in their update Blogs and has claimed to know who the cheaters were from the data that they recovered/gained from RTW, and GF mentioned that they will have a zero (0) tolerance. But again, we'll see.
4. I recall reading that GF will tie the cash-shop to mostly customization as opposed to acquisition of game-play stat and perk enhancements. Again, yet to be seen.
5. I want a fresh-start without risking gaming against someone that gained by hacking. So I really dont want my old account or characters, not anyone elses back.
It's hard to say what to expect from Gamers First. It could be this is an attempt by them to step up to the plate and offer a really good quality product. Maybe they will be putting their best foot forward.
Time will tell. What developers say and what happens at the end of the day are not always the same thing. I think because I liked APB so much I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. For now.
Whats thepoint in stating to the OP that its his fault for forgetting the data etc? He admitted that and went to CUSTOMER SUPPORT for...lets take a guess...CUSTOMER SUPPORT!
He didnt ask them to tell him anything, he asked them for help and they refused.Thats not his fault thats the companies.
If GF deal with free players in APB like that they will be as dumb as RTW.
I loved the game at first but after 4 days it was hack fest and denials and tbh hold no hope for this time round. Its another Hellgate London.
About the old characters.. I've read on their forum that they will allow old characters in along their emblems, tattoos and the like but all characters will start back at rank 1..
So, fresh start for everyone..
Hope it isn't another Flagship, but it wouldn't suprise me, two great games with great potential, being handled by the wrong people.
You've played APB since beta, so you should know that punkbuster did squat to stop the aimbot programs that people used to cheat when it was running since they were specifically designed to be undetectable by PB. If Gamers First is relying mostly on PB to work the magic for them, you can be sure that cheaters will be plentiful and all over APB:R. The game made people rage like no other I've ever played, and it drove (and will drive) many players to cheat.
1. I haven't seen any good CSR on any F2P games. CSR is bad enough even on P2P games, let alone F2P.
2. PB is useless at detection anyway.
3. Doubtful due to #1. Talking the talk =/= walking the walk. They can say all kinds of pleasant nice suneshine butterflies rainbow things with sugar on top to lull people into believing they are actually banning cheaters, but it's all PR BS in the end.
4. Pretty sure that they don't plan to give cash shop users a huge advantage. It will most likely be aesthetics and small convenience oriented stuff. Besides, any concerns about cash shop players having an advantage is really eclisped by the huge potential for cheating in the game anyway.
They're watching cheaters in beta at the moment and trying to learn what they can about the cheats, They also have hardware bans this time around, so if you get banned you aren't coming back.
people should be worried about gamers first their customer service sucks, their cash shops imbalance games, they have held on to titles for years and made little if any improvements to them.
