A bunch of LAWLs from seeing the people that think there is a better MMORPG than Darkfall . ... LOL
Mortal Online?
Total of a dozen mobs in that game so get prepared to be owned by a deer. Buggy. No content. I was more excited for this game before I started playing Darkfall but then Mortal Online's beta and launch and it was not as fun as Mount and Blade yet there was a little humor and things to mess around with for a little while but you will run out of things to do pretty fast since all their dungeons are empty and there is nothing else to do but get lost somewhere or kill someone or kill some animal. I am going to close my eyes at night and see penises while I try to sleep. Thanks Mortal!
Mount and Blade: Warband?
A very fun game! Kind of reminds me of the boardgame Risk with realistic combat. If you were to pick this one up you are likely to play it for at least a week. I couldnt put it down for a long time and still love it. It does not have nearly as much to keep you playing longer than what an MMORPG like Darkfall has and the combat is much more realistic but not as fun or thrilling.
EVE?
Yeah like I really want to have to study a manual just to get started . .. and then find out that combat is all about watching your spaceship pew pew....... . . .. .. The combat is ridiculously slow-paced and boring compared to Darkfall! I like the logic involved and the importance of reaction time but compared to Darkfall the only thing that it does better is its economy with more than enough population and that its sci fi.
Planetside?
Definitely comparible to Global Agenda but a little funner and just like Warband, it only satisfies for a few weeks at most. The combat is not going to give you an adrenaline rush like it will in Darkfall and there is no bunny-hopping and minimal buttons to press in comparison.
WoW?
In WoW you are stuck to a role. You can watch peoples health, hold aggro, deal DPS, or handle crowd control, with a little bit of kiting and auto-attack. Your combat constists of TAB+1+2+3 combinations that are typically repeated. PVE is made to be easy enough for a 6 year old who can just follow the quest-tracker and look for exclamation points or question marks. Mobs are outlined with obvious warning red rings and aggre is pulled by approaching too close . ... the mob AI in Darkfall runs differently though and mobs actually hear or see you. You can get on top of anything that you see in the distance while getting from point A to point B can consist of challenging yourself to reach a certain distance or bunn-y hop.

That's what every character in that game was, is and will be. I saw the writing on the wall over a year ago. Unlimited ability to learn any skill only means one build will prevail. People might level them at different rates and orders, but everyone will always be the same. And then just to pour salt in the wound, they make you grind for months in order to get that cookie-cutter character.
Another reason Warband prevails in this area. Plain multi-player just gives you a premade character to play and forgets about all the grinding Darkfall requires. It cuts right to the chase and puts you in the battle without wasting time getting yourself to a point where you can stand a chance in combat.
You are calling Darkfall Cookie Cutter?
In Darkfall you do what you want and have hundreds of spells and skills. You have more than can be bound to your keyboard. You will prefer certain tactics over others most likely and that personal preference depends on the player. It feels different to fight two different people even if they have all of the same spells unlocked because everyone fights differently.
I thought that the cookie-cutter build is usually refered to playing a class and when it comes to PVP I typically think of games like Guildwars where there is a lot of rock vs paper vs scissors PVP gameplay and builds are called 'cookie cutter' because they must play a certain role for the team. In Darkfall you do not have to play a certain role and when you die it is because you failed and not because of some class that you chose to be that happened to be easily stomped by your opponent.
Obviously you are complaining about there being no limits in Darkfall in which spells and skills that you can use until the expansion and are calling that cookie cutter I guess since with all those options everyone is going to end up the same (?). Cookie cutter builds typically come from not having the freedom to use whatever spell that you want.
Pirates, Vikings and Knights II?
Hehehehe Awesome! Great side-game to play when I need some ego repaired for some casual PVP.
Darkfall has the best bunny-hopping of any FPS.
Has the biggest and funnest world to explore with the most realistic combat feel and mob AI interaction.
You can group with anyone that you want and have no restrictions or rules and can unlock or work on anything that you want.
Darkfall is the only game that creates an intense adrenaline rush to the extent that it does.
Darkfall has unpredictable gameplay.

Im guessing most of that is a joke.. particularly the bit about having the best Bunny Hopping.. as if thats a good thing.. but it does highlight how ridiculous the PVP in Darkfall can be.. maybe one day this game will be great.. but.. not today.. still.. bunny hopping.. you just have to laugh at that.. everyone knows that only losers bunny hop..
I'd have to disagree. Bunny Hopping in itself isn't so bad. What's bad is DarkFall's version of Bunny Hopping, a system that has no inertia. If you jump towards a location after Shrapnel/Stormblast/Begone, you can bunnyhop for almost an unlimited amount of time, provided you don't collide with an object to stop you in your run.
If Aventurine were to finally acquire the necessary IQ to comprehend that the system is broken, and fix this problem, then maybe, maybe, Bunny Hopping will be "fine".
- Full open world, PvP is possible anywhere with the exception of NPC towns
If you're into PvP definately give Darkfall a try, if not don't worry it's got great AI and epic PvE fights (new alignment system to prevent noob greifing yay).
Minor contradiction.
Here is the problem, the more they change, the more carebearish it gets.
DF is NOT "FULL" open world pvp. You ARE limited on where you can pvp, this for me is the problem.
Let griefers grief, thats the essence of open world pvp, let the players police the players, not the noob-friendly anti-griefing system protect everyone.
It dilutes the game and the reason people play REAL open world pvp games (such as EvE). Yes being ganked as a nub is annoying, but it's a learning curve. Join a guild, get some help, band together and gank back. Unfortunately DF's skill based grind doesn't make this easy.

But you do know that EvE is divided into sectors which range from fully policed areas to lawless regions?
There are many kinds of PvP. Sure, DFO is the best FFA full loot PvP.
The best RvR is still DaoC and the best Arenas is still in Guildwars. As for regular open world PvP I prefer Eve.
It all depends on what type of PvP you prefer, I actually had most fun PvP ing in Lineage (it didn't have full loot but sometimes you could loot an item from another player). But that was a long time ago and the game havn't aged well.
The thing is that PvP could be a lot more fun. The fact that more MMO players prefers PvE while more FPS players prefer PvP tells me that there is a lot of room for improvements.
I dunno-I tried Darkfall and didn't care for the graphics. Am playing Rift now and its passes the time quite nicely.
This is what I want. A game that 'passes the time' without me even having to use my brain activily until the next day when I have to wake up. You're right dude.

Actually, DarkFall *is* Full Open World PvP. There are no instances, and all areas are open to everyone. New Players only have a protection from PvP for the first few hours ( It used to be 24 hours but was greatly reduced earlier this year). This is just to "smooth" the introduction to DarkFall and doesn't last long enough to be relevant. As for NPC Cities, there are actually ways to Grief in NPC Cities despite the strong Zap Tower protection, so the game does remain full open world PvP.
Although it's arguably caused by an exploit of the Alignement system.
Nonetheless, it is full open world PvP, and probably the only redeeming feature for DarkFall, because everything else fails in my mind.
If Aventurine were to finally acquire the necessary IQ to comprehend that the system is broken, and fix this problem, then maybe, maybe, Bunny Hopping will be "fine".
Bunny hoping on foot is used to catch up or run away on completely flat terrain, wearing light to medium armor. Bunny hopping on mount works only downhill. In both cases you hurt yourself or your mount on every jump - that's why it's somehow balanced - you can't jump forever, because you'll kill yourself.
Bunny jumping actually solves one important problem: 18 months ago chasing someone on mount for 45 mins was not that uncommon. Now after 5 mins you'll either catch up, or give up. So AV won't "fix" it, until they'll implement some other solution (e.g. mount sprint).

What are you talking about? You cannot die from Bunny hopping....just like you cannot die from a 10000000 feet high jump. You can never drop below 1 HP from fall damage. Also, Armor has nothing to do with it. Even if you wear Heavy Armor, just get some Feather Enchant and the Magic Encumbrance is insignificant.
It completly imbalances the game, renders several playstyles completly useless (Mounted Combat, Melee-based Combat, etc), is a "must" for PvP nowadays, makes strategy and tactics even more useless to the success of a Battle, and battles only ends in yet another 45 minutes chase, with or without mounts. It's just dumbing down the game with an easy button "escape" mode.

QFT. Watching vids of DF should make any FPS player laugh and feel sad at the same time. Bring that bunnyhopping nonsense to BFBC2, and you don't gain any advantage. If someone is on a mount, and your on foot...you shouldn't be able to catch them. DF has so much potential and seems to be headed in the right direction..but the combat/UI(atm) is the reason I left, and I hope they get it right.

In terms of PvP, its fun-but best is purely opinion.
I played the game for more than a year straight and I can't seem to get away from it so for any of the new comers, if you can push past the initial slap in the face (no starting gear, objectives, etc.), you'll find a fun experience.
Its sad that I am giving the game props at the moment...considering they banned me a little over two weeks ago for no reason and their support staff can't even answer why (hoping for a swift return to the game but until then I need to find another mmo given their time tables). Then there are the really bad development cycles to consider-the majority of their 'promised' patches occur 3 months after their original deadline.
More or less, the list goes on and on.
Oh, and for whoever is going to be picking the game up...plan on playing for at least 3 months to get 'competitive' enough for PvP. Just be ready to put up with some BS situations.

Bunny hopping is bad in a game with fps/twitch aiming? Er well I'm glad some people think it's more sensible to just stand there whilst their opponent pounds the shit out of them. Although whilst i'm aware it can be taken to the extreme, there is nothing wrong in and of itself with bunny hopping in combat.
I get the impression that the majority of people who come on this site talking about pvp seem to think key turning and tab targeting is 'teh mad skillz'
As a player connect, DF has far and a way the best ground based mmo pvp in my opinion, the opportunity to tab 1-2-3 faceroll over pugs as part of a premade (which is what occurs 80% of the time in most 'casual pvp' mmos) is pretty boring imho.
Other than that EVE has top notch pvp, but for reasons above and beyond the direct combat mechanics themselves.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
The title should read best FFA Open World PvP available. There are alot of people, probably more, that prefer RvR or instanced PvP. WAR which is all about instanced and RvR PvP has many times more subs.
And Darkfall has subpar animations and UI, both I would say quite important to have fluid PvP. Also the variety of different type of "classes" is basically zero as everyone will end up melee/archer/mage.
So Darkfall PvP may be the best FFA Open World PvP but that is mostly because the competition is next to none. I mean Mortal Online which is barely playable and Eve which is more about handling resources/money rather than PvP, which is point and click, is not exactly tough to compete with.
Unfortunately I'm getting tired of it pretty quick . Mortal Online has all that as well, and does it much better, realistic and with a very nice feeling to it! More player skills involved in MO also! Well, they do not have naval wars yet yhough, but the rest is there - full pvp, full loot, mounts etc etc...
In comparison I totally prefer Mortal Online's PvP since it is more actual player based skills imo! Like UO, but in a new bottling!
Why does Darkfall contain the best PvP MMOs have to offer?
- Full control of your character, aim your spells and hits in fast paced combat, where every decision could mean life or death
If by that u mean frogwars u aint serious. By frogwars i mean players jumping and sprinting up and down spamming attacks . If they cut down sprinting during fights and improve animations during combat i ll consider it though as i was a big fun of morrorwind.
Why does Darkfall contain the best PvP MMOs have to offer?
- Full control of your character, aim your spells and hits in fast paced combat, where every decision could mean life or death [ If you prefer this style of combat, I'll agree, I actually like Tab Targeting combat in my MMORPG's, and not shooter mechanics, but to each their own ]
- Full open world, PvP is possible anywhere with the exception of NPC towns
This doesn't make the PVP the best, it makes ganking better I'm sure though.
- PvP integrated into PvE, always becareful when farming for that red player around the corner!
So PVE'ers are basically helpless victims with a huge skill advantage. How does that make PVP any better?
- Fight for mighty sea towers, capture player made cities and hamlets, control village points for hourly income. [ This sounds good, probably some of the best DF has to offer ]
- Fully loot the person you've just killed [ This would be much better if there was a punishing encumbrance system in place, such that you really couldn't loot another person's gear w/o greatly slowing yourself down/hindering your combat abilities. Looting should have consequences. ]
- Fight on mounts or in the sea using player built ships ranging from small boats to giant man o wars
Another good thing, but as someone mentioned, I don't think mounted combat is working quite as intended.
Tab targetting combat simply does not compare to the adrenaline rush you get from Darkfall.
I totally disagree, the combat mechanics have nothing to do with the "rush", its all about the ability to lose everything you have that adds to that feeling. Play EVE sometime and have a half a dozen pirates trying to intercept your multibillion ISK ship and you'll see some real excitement. From what I understand in DF most players can easily replace the gear their wearing and real loss never occurrs.
Good team play goes a long way as demonstrated by Liandri Recruitment Agency who fight tougher opponents and then later fight hugely outnumbered!; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PdnuA-VueM
See EVE, DAOC or half a dozen other games, nothing new here I'm afraid.
So, you've seem some of the exciting PvP Darkfall has to offer (not the best I might add), what do other games have on this? Not much if anything.
I still prefer EVE's tactical combat and feel its the best out there. Oh wait, that's just my opinion isn't it. Same thing here I'm afraid.
If you're into PvP definately give Darkfall a try, if not don't worry it's got great AI and epic PvE fights (new alignment system to prevent noob greifingd yay).
C'mon now, you're just making stuff up, no one ever claims that DF has Epic PVE fights.
OK, I understand, you're trying to drum up some support for DF and get people to try it. But understand that no matter how good the action oriented combat is these things keep people from playing DF.
1) FFA PVP with full loot. - Yep, hard to believe, but most people won't tolerate you looting their stuff any time, any where. EVE actually has many systems in place that allows a player to mitigate their losses without too much effort. (assuming they have the smarts for it)
2) Huge PVE grind to be competitive and no real way to catch up with veteran players. - People want their PVP games to have a sense of fair built into them, and DF doesn't have it.
3) There's no one here? Yep, curse of many games, sort of chicken and the egg I suppose, but no one wants to play a MMO that isn't already full of players and DF is the kind of game that really needs a lot of players for anyone to have fun.

I could live with the rest of your post but i will disagree on this.
The combat style free aim vs tab target isn't a difference of perception. It is objectively a different type. Not so much about you have to really aim well to score which in itself requires more individual skill (a miss on tab target system is a artificial dice calculation -which you would agree doesn't require any individual skill at all) but also makes your open for friendly fire and collateral damage. Aimed FPS combat gives you OBJECTIVELY more control over your fighting and also more responsibility for your fights (your friends will thank you vociferous if you hit them instead of the enemy) .
Why PvE'rs are always the victims ? A PvE'r in DF can also be a strong PvP'r, no !? It doesn't make PvP technically better but because there aren't any artificial border between PvE and PvP the PvP gets benefit.

Nice OP

I am pretty sure he is dead serious. Some people are...like that....
Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy
But you do know that EvE is divided into sectors which range from fully policed areas to lawless regions?
I dunno-I tried Darkfall and didn't care for the graphics. Am playing Rift now and its passes the time quite nicely.
Griefing new players in EVE is bannable offense.
I won't even comment on Concord and security space mechanics...
Bunny hoping on foot is used to catch up or run away on completely flat terrain, wearing light to medium armor. Bunny hopping on mount works only downhill. In both cases you hurt yourself or your mount on every jump - that's why it's somehow balanced - you can't jump forever, because you'll kill yourself.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZA3Tg_HkAQY
Beside, we're talking about Bunnyhopping caused by Spells like Stormblast, Begone and Shrapnel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHh7xGQ-AsI

Everyone goes through these.
No one in unique.
Funny you say so, considering EVE combat mechanics are essentially an extension of TAB+123 system...
Funny I wrote, 'beyond the direct combat mechanics themselves' ....
My gaming blog
I agree
MO is a broken game, Darkfall is a solid MMO
There is no comparison.
If by that u mean frogwars u aint serious. By frogwars i mean players jumping and sprinting up and down spamming attacks . If they cut down sprinting during fights and improve animations during combat i ll consider it though as i was a big fun of morrorwind.
