Any old-school gamers here that remember the game Interstate '76? It's very similar to Auto Assault but on a much smaller scale. Unfortunately, I completely ruined the game for the community because I hacked my car so that it wouldn't take any damage from any online players; Activision hated me Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this game... I can't wait, it sounds different and fun in comparison to the other up and coming MMORPG's.

Interstate '76 was Old School? WTF?
I76 wasn't old school. Car Wars, Autoduel, Battlecars, Dark Future... Those were the roots, that's Old School.
Don't get me wrong, I76 was a fun game to play, loved the game, but I wouldn't really call it old school.

Well, I guess it depends on how old you are....and ummm, if you went to school or not.
I remember I76 it was a fun game. If you wanna talk old school I remember one of those....umm...books. Kinda like the "choose your own adventure" books, but you would roll dice and stuff to fight. I remember there was a post-nuclear car one that I read/played. It was fun at the time. I've always loved this setting for a game.
The MMO I really want to play is an I-76/Car Wars style game with FPS perspective. All the driving/piloting would take place in an FPS view of the cockpit as well as an FPS perspective for just running around outside your vehicle. The Car Wars/Autoduel universe was fairly well-developed, it would make a great storyline for an MMO. I wonder what kind of cash SJG would want to license it out for development?
I'd want the game to support steering wheels, multiple monitors, people playing gunners on large player-driven rigs, that kind of thing. It would be heavy on "crafting" (mechanic/armory skills) with a robust player-driven economy. Imagine protecting a convoy of semis against raiders, with both air and ground vehicles. Lots of arena fighting, convoy driving, PvM and full PvP, a huge North-American post-apoc game world.
I can dream, can't I?
ya i got the I76 gold edition with the Nitro pack.
has all the 3d accelerated graphics of the mid 90's! woo woo. Direct 3d and 3dFX mode!
fun game. especially online, in the stunt courses.
peace
I sure hope they make this game hack / bot proof - I hate hackers/botters - what's the point of playing the game if you are going to cheat yourself out of the full experience?
So far the game looks totally off the hook - the only thing I can see ruining it is people who think like this fellow. No offense intended to the quoter (PC statement for any onlooking sensitive moderators).
Hummm....it sounds familar. When I think of cars + Activision, I think Vigilante 8. Now that was a fun game. Vigilante 8: 2nd Offence actually was better than Twisted Metal 3 in a good bit of areas such as weapons, combos and customization...
Thoses were some good times.

I'm with the both of you. I also enjoyed Vigilante 8 more than the Twisted Metal series. I thought it might've just been since I played the Vigilante series first and became biased in favor of it because of that.
I loved Vigilante for the N64. The weapons were very balanced and the vehicles you could operate were awesome. School buses with chainguns were my favorate. Loki's nuke was my favorate weapon.
