A few questions

LeagolxLeagolx Member Posts: 222

Sorry if any of these are a repost but I had a few questions for people currently playing the game.

1. Any Idea how many people are subbed to this game?

2.Is pvp full loot?

3.Is food and water hard to come by?

4.Is it more in depth than minecraft?

If your going to ban the trolls please for our sake ban the Fan Boys too.

I can't answer every question, but I'll try to answer those I can.

How many ppl are subbed.  No idea, but there are quite a few.  Many aren't on atm because ppl are waiting for a content update, so it feels pretty empty.

    Full loot pvp - yes

food and water difficulty - both very easy to come by

minecraft - i'm told yes, but i don't play minecraft, so I cant comment.

I self identify as a monkey.

    1. Only the devs can answer.

    2. Its supposed to be limited full loot but that doesn't work now. You can loot what the player is wearing, but you can't always loot his baskets. If the victim drops his baskets on the ground before dieing you won't be able to loot them.

    3. Water is everywhere, you can forage and fish for food. Its not very easy on low level but not impossible either, and gets easier as you level up fishing.

    4. Can't comment on this, haven't played Minecraft.

It depends on that what are you looking for, and how patient you are. If you want a pvp game then don't buy it, combat is broken and pvp is not the focus of this game. If you are into worldbuilding-crafting then you will likely enjoy it. Some fetaures need to be turned on to make the economy work ( like decay), but otherwise its a crafters' paradise.

If you want a polished game right now then don't buy. If you think you can enjoy the game as it is now  till they implement more features then go ahead,  I haven't regret buying it at all but get ready for slow development and some lag issues, though it improved a lot.

    1. Any Idea how many people are subbed to this game?

The active population boomed to pretty suprising numbers before launch but quickly decreased and will likely continue to plummet. Subscriptions start in ~2 months, and I'm guessing most people will forget about this game by then.

    2.Is pvp full loot?

No and there is no concrete mechanics really planned for how this will work in the future... Currently you can loot everything the character is wearing (armor / weapons) except for the pre-order weapons, and you can loot  a limited number (1-2?) things in a characters bag - SOMETIMES. Sometimes you can't loot because the container has permissions set on it. There was some thing talked about looting causing good/evil points and different rules for good/neutral/evil chars looting good/neutral/evil chars, but neither the allignment system nor that looting system is in...

The answer to this question is: Who Knows?... and the answer to that question is: Not the dev.

3.Is food and water hard to come by?

Water is basically everywhere, but you have to go to it to drink, so no.

Food, you can fish up a weeks worth of food in a couple of minutes, so no.

You don't really need food or water either way at this point. Your character can have 0 thirst and hunger and still function fine.

4.Is it more in depth than minecraft?

    Its less in depth.

Minecraft has an extremely elegant and simple system. If you spawn in a desert, the gameplay is very different then if you spawn in a forest.

You have a very natural and smooth progression with a lot of challenges along the way.

It's rather short-lived since you can get to the bottom and start mining diamonds and all that fairly easily - but then the rest of the fun begins when you can start crafting your base, using redstone circuits, fighting other players if you're on multiplayer, etc. There are a lot of tools given to you in Minecraft to create your own depth (including altering server rulesets to give limitless possiblities)

In Xsyon it's basically the complete opposite. Where you start mattered somewhat at launch (ex. You can only get chalk in mountains), but by now everyone has an ample supply of everything.

The progression feels synthetic and obnoxiously bottlenecked. In order to find a new set of recipes your only option is to scavenge for hours and hope you find a recipe for the profession you want (and make that days if you're looking for anything other than leathercrafting/bonecrafting). You actually have another option - that is to trade. However, everything is basically worthless at the moment since nothing has significant functionality. You also run the risk of being trade ganked (something extremely easy to do in Xsyon).

Finally, the end game is currently nothing. With a reasonably large tribe you can complete your tribe's area in a matter of weeks. You can stock your resources and gear up to infinity with relative ease. The only thing that presents a decent challenge is maxing your crafts and filling out the recipes, which is a sick, sick grind and currently has absolutely no benefit. The goal of playing is currently to become ready for future content -- unless future content is going to require 1000ths of sets of  gear and 10 layers of walls, I think we're ready.

If you played and enjoyed the Sims long term, just maxing out your character's job and decorating your house, then you might like this game. If you have an irrational love for independant developers, then you might like this game.

If you enjoy a well-crafted sandbox experience then I would not reccomend this game. At every corner you will think "This would have been a good feature if he did X and Y...", and in the coming months you will likely see this game in a very similar state as it is currently, based on the past year of almost no progression.
