have you played EQ2 recently? Well I'd hate to stop your Maplestory experience, *lol* but EQ2 is a polished Gem. With amazing depth too I might add. SoE has done an amazing job adding content and tweaking gameplay and they get the thumbs up from me and from anyone else who doesn't just spread what they hear from flamers "SoE sucks cuz, well thats what my friend says!" you know the type, and actually gives the game a try themselves

fanboi alert! It's the OP's opinion, and one that many people agree with nowadays - EQ2 is nothing, yah thats right, NOTHING compared to what it might and could have been should it have lived up to the mighty legacy of EQ, which although a crappy game now in many eye's, was hands down the most revolutionary and rewarding gaming experience for many years (in fact, largely introducing the genre as we know it today).

Well said. Back in the good ol' days everyone brought out the flames for the people that truly deserved them, making it so much more entertaining. These days it's just some sort of watered down, pseudo-intellectual pissing match.

I think when someone calls EQ2 or any other game a "polished turd" they open themselves up to at least some form of mockery, given the juvenile context of their comments. I'd say the tides have turned for the better, seeing as me defending an SOE game wasn't the post that got flamed, but the person who was bashing the SOE game in the first place.

Yeah, cuz anyone who doesnt bash SOE is a fanboi right? Im a gamefan. I dont like when people spread misinformation about any game. If you havent tried EQ2 in the last month then just save your fingers the stress of typing, because your just typing out of your ass. Try it yourself, really you won't be sorry. I agree with everything you said about EQ though, it changed not only MMORPG's but our expectations of all games and what they can make you feel. I think EQ raised the bar for ALL games. Check out EQ2 though its really a charming game and has quite a nice community. I say this because I do care about my fellow gamers and I am not just feeding my own ego.

If i liked an MMO when i played it and had to stop for whatever reason, I will go back to it. but if i hated a game when i played it i will never go back...that's just me though.

remyburke I have been reading your posts since before EQ2 came out and have always considered them to be very good and positive and not ignorant at all. Thats why Im responding to your post. You got to level 35 in EQ2 so by some general calculations, thats at least a month of playing time, if not 2 or more. You speak of first impressions, but you obviously liked the game enough to get to lvl 35 so thats a pretty darn long first impression. It sucked for over a month but you kept playing it? Ok thats just not logical so Ill ignore your first impressions speech.  They have done so much to improve EQ2 its really too long to list. Its just not the same game you played to level 35 in your first impression. But you said you'll never go back so I guess I'm wasting my time. Why? Because Sony pays me? Because I'm a fanboi? Or perhaps  just "insert off hand comment to write me off without actually reading my post and wondering why I give a fu%k". I do because its a great game and deserves a second chance, just like we all deserve. Maybe its not your thing, but seeing as you grinded from lvl 20 to 35 I suspect there might be something there for you. Oh and have a beer on me tonight ITS FRIDAY!image
Oh and just ask my girlfriend, first impressions dont count for $hit image
