OBVIOUSLY there isn't going to be ANY way to monitor population drops when 2 weekends in a row they've had FREE WEEKENDS.  Free is FREE.  People who were on the fence are trying it out. Stop saying "well I saw lots of people" this weekend.  That does NOT indicate a quantity of subs.

If ANYTHING, this many free weekends this close to launch has me REALLY wondering about this game.  No other game gave out anything but friend-passes within the first 6 months.  Are they failing hard or just trying to pull in more people?

I like your conspiracy theory. Lets see though, if they didn't offer a trial, they would have something to hide, wouldn't they?

Lets condemn Trion, they are obviously wrong regardless of whether they give a trial or not. They are obviously failing hard or trying to pull more people, right?

I tried to play this Fri, Sat and Sun on Deepstrike and Threesprings and had to wait in the queue each day for each server.  I dont know what server you are playing on but mine dont need no stickin merges

Definitely. Raid based end games are just terrible because raiding isn't fun. I'd even prefer an EQ style AA game so at least non raiders have something to do.

Meeee too.    I'd definitely take a game of harder leveling curve over one that is way too easy.  Even if time didn't allow me.  Being the highest level in a game isn't the be all end all.  But this game sure makes it feel that way cause even not trying you get there too fast.  There is no immersive feel to the game and there isn't a lot to do endgame.  Well, there is but it was so easy it was a blow through.  Course, I don't mean throw in a bunch of stupid quests either.   I am looking for that EQ-like game.  You aren't going to beat blizz at it's own game unless you put in $30M into development probably, so it's like games should find a niche of players that have no game to really play right now.  EQ/Vanguard/SWG is a game I'm hoping for again someday.

Dude, this is so false it isn't even funny.  I had an hour que on my server today.  And there were literally at least 50 characters in the one zone i was in with my level 22 character.

Still a handfull of servers getting queues before the trial weekend. There is no denying that some of the later servers they added though are low pop and may need merges just stay  away from mine please.

I've had to solo rifts lvl 20-30 and 30-40 all weekend.  Day, night it doesn't matter there's hardly anybody around now compared to just a couple weeks ago.

I can take screenshots if people want to be ignorant about it...

Not saying Rift is a bad game or anything of the kind but by design it needs fairly heavy server/zone populations to make the rifts and invasions playable.  I died probably a dozen or more times today just from trying to solo invasions and encampments.

I predict Rift will suffer the same fate as War Hammer.  They released to many servers too fast, spreading the population all over the place.   Now that it has settled you have a few queued servers in the evening and empty ones.

I dont think merging will help regardless of population. I maxed out faster in this game than the over a dozen other mmo's I've played. All I am doing now is daylies so I can get a gear upgrade. Rift reward system isnt worth it, PVP rewards are ok but I don't enjoy warfronts. Dungeons might be more rewarding but I only play 1 to 2 hours a day including lfg time.

Outside of these free weekends, Molinar is a pretty dead server. I often sit in the queue for a warfront for hours at a time. That's with two other servers, Crucia and Presipice, in our battlegroup. There's some servers that have had queues since launch. Others are so deserted it's pretty common to see no other players when out doing dailies in Stillmoore or Shimmer. Mind you this is all during NA prime-time. There's a lot of servers. If you happen to be on a high-pop one you can't really tell those of us on a low-pop server that we're talking out of our asses. They could merge all three servers in our battlegroup and we'd probably still have no queues. Some servers are even less fortunate than Molinar. I've read and seen servers with less than 20 level capped players online during prime-time.

They're eventually going to have to consolidate servers. They're going to offer x-fers, but it's pretty unlikely they're going to offer servers from low-pop to high-pop servers; that just wouldn't make sense. So, people on high-pop servers are going to stay there and people on low-pop servers will get to deal with it until Trion starts merging servers.
