What's WOW again? Oh yeah the game where their best developers are focusing on another game! No wonder why they are delaying content releases always and rehasing old content. Cancelled WOW due to garbage.
I played some of the Rift beta events and of the ally-code and "free weekend" events, and yet.... I resubbsed to WoW again recently, after a 2 year break!
No joke. Rift got some cute ideas, but in areas which are very important for me, it's insanely lacking.
i unsubbed from WoW after about a week of playing Rift.. i'll be resubbing again probably in another month. .. but.. having a break from WoW seemed like a good idea.. but .. if i had to choose between Rift or WoW.. WoW would probably win.
Why would I cancel my Wow account I already have 10 85s.. and why would I level another toon on a Wow clone.. Makes more sense to cancel my Rift account.. That's what I did.
Others have suggested other poll results (I like your last one, "I play neither, I just like polls.") but I think you might have also added
Cataclysm disappointed me on it's own merits. Rift didn't outwow WoW, but Cataclysm lowered the bar.
I will still never understand how right up until 12/6, they were making the game easier and easier and then they smacked the playerbase with dungeons that, to pug, were a nightmare. Actually I do understand it, they wanted the box sales with the pretty black dragon, they didn't care you stayed.
Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug. 12 Million People have been meter spammed in heroics.
I tried Rift in Beta5 and nothing hooked me. To be honest I didn't really give it much of a chance. I got to like levl 7 and decided to hop back on my shadow priest and try to catch IronJaw. I've played WoW for almost a year now and after 2 years of Lotro I still love it. Loves the grinds

Why talk about wow in the rift dpt? This forum is about Rift, let's talk about Rift.
All the people ingame dropping wow references are quite annoying to me. It's like a big mass of people you don't want to meet but can't get away from. Sure you can switch off chat but then again you also just play single player games.
Seems to me that people that are in Rift are looking for something that is not wow.
We are talking bout Rift Subject is keeping the game even if or have canceled your WoW account. Anouther way of putting it.
I canceled my WoW account during Beta3 for Rift, but not because of Rift. I had intentions of playing Rift when it was released, but decided my money is best saved. Rift is awesome (Played the Betas), but I don't think I can deal with the emotional stress involved in MMORPGs.
My last WoW guild crumbled after the GM switched servers. All the rep I earned and resources I poured into the guild was gone. I can't deal with that kind of stuff anymore. I just want to play the game, Raid, Have fun, and hang with like-minded people. I've played WoW since Feb. 2005 and it's always been the same thing to me. Eventually, I just had to quit. I'm afraid I might encounter the same with Rift. $50 is a lot of money to pay on chance.

I enjoyed RIFT but like with so many players - it was only going to be temporary thing. My goal was to play in diffrent setting than that of Azeroth. I did that and it was great. The soul system is really awsome - the Dynamic events are fun - but really not rewarding enough. The custimasation is great. All in all - RIFT was exatly what WOW cata should have gone for.
Why am I not resubing to RIFT ? Mainly because my server is dead for endgame content. There are less than 400 ppl online at peak times. And then Im talking TOTAL of 1 faction. Less than 25 of each class at lvl 50. Thats just not acceptable - but sadly Im 100% sure Trion will not go for any sort of server merges next few months cause of danger of backlash. So...... I got no choise. Not gonna reroll on another server. No way.

Intresting... Guess a person that has 10 lvl 85 is forced to pay for the rest of his life ....
RIFT is not a WOW clone in few critiacl aspects. I absolutly loved the soul system.
I will still never understand how right up until 12/6, they were making the game easier and easier and then they smacked the playerbase with dungeons that, to pug, were a nightmare. Actually I do understand it, they wanted the box sales with the pretty black dragon, they didn't care you stayed.
WotLK hurt WoW way more than Cataclysm did. Cata was a step in the right direction, but they might be making an about-face with the next patch depending on the difficulty of ZA/ZG.
I know to those that were new to WoW in WotLK that the concept of crowd control in a heroic might be foreign, and that actually having to pause between pulls may seem odd, but I was glad to get out of the zerg-heavy heroics WotLK had.
I can understand not liking Cata, but not liking it for making Heroics that took a bit more situational awareness and organization per pull is what I don't understand. They are still very much puggable.

I'm not disagreeing that WotLK was a large part of the problem but it's "Blizzard's fault" for making the game easier and easier, right up til cata release.
They just wanted box sales. It's as simple as that. Otherwise late Wrath wouldn't have included a 30% buff.

Blizz attempted to pretty much cater an entire expansion to casual players, then tried going a different route. If anything, WotLK was their attempted grab at box sales.
The 30% buff was just so that, for once, instead of 3% of the population experiencing the final tier of content (Vanilla Naxx, Sunwell), more people could see what the devs made. I agree that 30% was excessive, but that still didn't help bads do Heroic ICC.
Its very intresting to hear ppl think WOW has some sort of mojo back by slamming 12 +1 bosses into first raid tier of an expansion and thenl leave it hanging for 8-10 months. Maybe those same ppl should look around and see the absolut joke that the game has turned into.
Its a game for 12 years old. BLizzard did not just change the game in terms of difficutly.. they changed it in terms of everything. Right now I feel ashamed to have been playing CATA for the past few months. What a total sellout of every aspect of the game. Goblin speedway running through an entire zone... what a joke... Flying lion coming in as store mount... even more joke..... ZA and ZG coming into DF filled with 12 year olds. Even worse...
Realise when a game has sold out. It can not go back. And dont you EVER think they are going back because the playerbase wanted it... They are doing it so that they can save themselfs work....... time... money .. to do absolutly nothing.
Again - Im a shamed what WOW has turned into IN CATA.
WOW has been going nowhere since TBC. Now.. THERE we were talking FANTASTIC raid tier of both 10 and 25 man SEPERATE content. It was awsome! Since then BLizzard has been sloppy - lazy and just arrogant in their aproch to relase crap raiding content that just throws one extra ability on to a bossfight ... What a joke

I love this stage that people enter after quitting WoW to play another MMO where they insult the playerbase. Obligatory rose-tinted spectacles and all.
I cancelled my WoW account several months ago, resubbed when Cata hit. It pissed me off even moreso than I was when I cancelled WoW before Cata. Was enjoying playing my Worgen until I got into the actual "world" and mobs that used to take a group to take down ran up to me and talked shit and looked all scary and I thought "OMG I am so dead" Then after 3-4 swings with my noob sword dropped them like a retarded 3rd grade school girl and I thought " what the f*** just happened?"
Enjoyed the new quest content for a time until I realized Blizzard had further dumbed down Azeroth play even more than it was already dumbed down (Wouldn't have thought that would be possible) then I just stripped off all my armor and played my new warrior buck naked till lvl 35 and just couldn't take it no longer. I could still take on 4-6 mobs several lvls above me and not really suffer much damage doing it.
They did make the heroic dungeons a lot more challenging and that was great but as far as living and playing in an actual world and "enjoying the journey all that has ended. Now all people want to do is hang out near the auction houses and just stay queued up for the next dungeon run and for me WoW shouldn't even be classified as an MMO anymore at all. It has turned into a lobby game. Why don't Blizzard just remove the actual world of Azeroth from thier game entirely? I don't think people would even care cause outside the cities you hardly even see anyone anymore. 12 million people subscribed to the game and everyone is in an instance? WTF? It just blows my mind...
RIFT finally hit and almost didn't buy it because of everyone saying "It's crap, and It's just like WoW" and so on and so forth. I have played WoW way back in BETA and like 4 years off and on after release over 3 different accounts and I have got to say i don't see how in the hell people can even compare the two games. RIFT for me is nothing like WoW. Don't get me wrong WoW was a fantastic game when it first came out but over time Blizzard actually massacred thier own game. RIFT was a bit annoying at first simply because of the community. But now I'm on my second month of playing RIFT and the community has improved immensly. Guess people finally figured out how to set up thier interface and chat settings and began to actually communicate with thier fellow adventurers. RIFT for me has been the best new release MMO I have played in a very long time...I guess since WoW first released. I am loving the game so far and can only imagine how much better it will be over time unless Trion really does turn it into WoW. And if that happens, I for one will be done with MMO's for good. Please Trion DO NOT ADD A CROSS SERVER DUNGEON FINDER!
"Many of us are experiencing tough times in WoW, we have lost friends, guildies, entire guilds have crumbled and fallen. I don't begrudge RIFT the shelf space, but when there are more RIFT posts on a WoW blog than WoW posts... well... I don't like it," Reala wrote.
I like Rift's events. But it's very similar to Wow while being a little less newbie friendly (lots bad choices possible with classes, no looking-for-group-tool) and otherwise very fresh.
I didn't like Cataclysm at all - only one path to endgame, no usable dungeons until 20-30+ hours in and hardcore chaos in random groups, raiding and pvp.
I'll probably keep my Rift account active until SWTOR or GW2 takes me away.
I didn't cancel WoW to play Rift, as I had cancelled WoW before Rift was released and before beta. I didn't like Cataclysm after all. I went through all of the low level Horde areas and leveling paths, took one character all the way through and got very annoyed with bugs and with the way the classes have been 'streamlined'.
Playing EQ2 and Rift at the same time and enjoying both games. If I have to leave one over the other, it would be a hard choice, but I'd probably go with Rift in order to give Trion support since SoE has been an established MMO company for a long time.
So people are finally starting to get tired of WoW (a game which was outdated the day it came out, seeing as it does literally nothing new or unique) so they opt to play... WoW again? The mindset of these WoW folks (that some have the audacity to call MMO fans) just doesn't make sense to me.
You like a game i think is bad...you are wrong. What a terrible terrible attitude. I bet you stop liking your favorite band because "everyone" likes them now and if everyone likes them I can't.

If "Cancelled WoW, Tried Rift, Cancelled Rift, Went back to WoW" was an option, I would choose it.
"Never unsubbing from WoW" doesn't fit.. More of a "Waiting for something better than WoW to come."
Rift tried very hard but couldn't out-WoW the original.
.. But in a good way.
