Irvine, Calif.– August 26, 2010 – GamersFirst, today’s most popular Free2Play online game destination, is announcing an alert to the current 9Dragons' player community. Earlier today, GamersFirst was notified that the current 9Dragons service will come to a halt this evening. With the halt, player accounts may be erased, until GamersFirst takes over 9Dragons in September.
Initially, the transition between Acclaim and GamersFirst was meant to be seamless, until GamersFirst received word this afternoon (also posted on Acclaim's 9Dragons forum) that the service will be shut off today for current players. As recently announced, Acclaim was acquired by Playdom which is to be acquired by Disney. While GamersFirst cannot comment on Acclaim’s internal strategy for abandoning 9Dragons players; GamersFirst intends to fulfill its promise to the 9Dragons community by transitioning all existing game accounts over to the new service, as it becomes available. With this news, however, the possibility of lost or compromised player accounts is likely.
GamersFirst urges all 9Dragons players to immediately:
- Take digital inventory of items and characters
- Create screenshots of all personal in-game inventory and characters
- Save and document in-game status
"We regret to have to post such unfortunate and urgent news to our new 9Dragons player community," says Joseph Rush, Director of Operations for GamersFirst. "Regrettably, we cannot control what the current publishers do, but can help the 9Dragons community make the transition and keep as much as their account information as possible. Our teams are working fanatically to make sure that current players are aware of the potential situation and can hopefully reclaim their characters, status and in-game items when GamersFirst is able to publish 9Dragons in September."
GamersFirst is offering a promotion for the 9Dragon players abandoned by Playdom in the case that services are shut off. 9Dragons registrants for GamersFirst accounts, who enter the code 9Dragons, will receive special items in Sword 2, GamersFirst's RPG/RTS hybrid MMO and War Rock: Clan Warfare, the hit FPS MMO; until they can resume playing 9Dragons in September. The promotion will be in effect as of August 27th, 2010.

Yeah i guess Acclaim is no longer.. Playdom jus shut the company down completly instead of letting it developer games further like it first said it'd do..

I think 2moon will prolly share the same fate tbh
Currently Playing:
Rift + Starcraft II + Gears Of War 3 Beta
if i had to guess i would say that since the op said that disney was going to acquire playdom they didn't want to continue the games chances are someone else will pick up the batton as far as acclaims other games go just like gamersfirst did for this game and at least they might get more of the bugs fixed then acclaim did
edit: btw shouldn't the games website and publisher be changed to gamersfirst and their website?
G1 will only take hold of 9D and not every Acclaim game. They are not taking over Acclaim, just getting the rights to publish 9D from Indy21 in NA.
question where did i say in my post that g1 was taking over acclaim? far as i can tell i never said that. i said g1 was taking over publishing of 9D and was asking shouldn't the website and publisher be changed to G1 since they were going to be publishing 9D now?
Why? It is Acclaim's website; they're down and out and so is the website. G1 has their own 9Dragon's website.
what i mean is to change the site listed here to g1's site for 9dragons since acclaim's site is down.
Would have saved yourself a lot of time and typing if you used the Contact Us link at the bottom.
So as of right now G1 doesn't have the old accounts/characters when it was under Acclaim. It is likely they will never get them back as well since they are are trying to get the database by legal means.
If they can't get them back, I think 9Dragons will lose a lot of old players that spent years to get where they were. I didn't spend years playing the game but I was still high enough to not want to do that again.

This transition between Acclaim and G1 has devastated 9dragons population. I heard it was inevitable, but it is quite sad. Now 9dragons have to go right from the start to collect players, cause considerable percentage of players left, including myself. Game is just not playable itself, it resembles to World of Warcraft private servers, full of bugs and issues, and not to mention loss of player data. I feel very sorry for this, because i love this game very much, and i haven't lost hope for it to recover. Maybe some kind of remake or sequel would be nice
hi all
well I am a old 9D player and I knew from accliams give up to allow gamersfirst to take over 9D game I would probley have to start over.
cause if any one delt with accliams before and how they did things, I knew gamersfirst would have a hard time getting their data base for all the accounts and characters rights.
but I hate to say it gamerfirst real making 9d fail.
I created a new account which was easy.
then I created a BoT character and levled to get my class roll on BoT and when I went to go chose my roll class the game server crashed for a few hours without a notice if it was maintence or not.
so for a few days I couldnt even get in the game, dont know to why.
but there website kept comming up with errors then I refreshed all cookies and stuff and edited the main website url and got it back up.
then I logged in to the game and I was at the cheif to pick my roll and I had half hp left and lower then half mp and I couldnt heal my self or pick my roll for class now.
I cant even delete that character and start over to use the same name.
gamersfirst is not a good game company if their website has so many data base errors and the game as well.
guess gamersfirst is gonna let this new 9D game of theres fail !!!
p.s.
I cant even log on to their website at all to complain to them about the bugs and what happend when the server crashed.
so i had to go on twitter and complain about it. and I hate twitter !!
I rather use facebook or myspace then twitter.
but I didnt want to use facebook to complain to them.
Well, I wouldn't blame the players of 9Dragons leaving. Not only was a 9Dragons player back when it was with Acclaim, I was also a WarRock player back before G1 took that over. Basically both games have gone down the drain. So much for coming back to 9Dragons only to find out it was taken over and trashed.
