I just resubbed to FE for a month good game if you like fallout feel. Anyway they have a free 2 week trial (might be a month I forget) and since many of you are without a mmo like me (while waiting for vg servers) ...I thought I would give you the link!

Fy: For anyone that might be a parent there is some strong language in the game does fit with the setting but thought if you have small children would give you a warning!

You know what thats not a bad idea, I remember playing the beta, and its was most certainly different and kinda interesting. Kinda forgot about the game though, thanks for the reminder!

Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.
I never said not to play VG (besides no eta on servers) and I will be going back there when servers are back up, and since we have no idea how long they will be down may as well enjoy ourselves? But you go do your housework I imagine you might be able to do your house and a few others by the time the servers come backup...and when they do see you in VG!
They ever fix the downlaod issues of this game, i think i tried the 14 day free trial but could never get the download to complete.
Are they giving this game any attention? I liked it 4 years ago, but pointless if moribund.

Speaking of Vanguard. I played it when it was beta and a few months after release. Fun, but so easily hackable and class bugs. How's it looking now? With all this talk about it im starting to miss it.

im going back to FE once i get paid from my new job and can pay my insane internet/cable bill lol. rolling off hotspot onmy sprint phone, not feasible to update given its barely 1mbit a sec. lol if it was 4g (6mbps) then wouldnt mind, but yeah gotta hold off. but expect me there in the coming weeks.

Vanguard really isn't the same buggy mess it was 4 years ago,it's actually very stable but some minor bugs are still their. None of the bugs are game breaking and to tell the truth i have not had any bugs for a long time.
You will be a complete noob and it will take a few months to reach top level so i would join a guild real quick for mentoring.

More lilkely that would just shut it down to save costs. I think at this point in the game you guys should treat every day Vanguard is around as a gift. I was surprised that it made it through the restructring honestly.

They aren't going to make a huge amount off selling it but they do own the property which means they can make use of any ideas that come from Vanguard.
edit: I'd also like to add that even if Sony sold Vanguard, the company buying it might use it in a way that the fans would not like. I think some players have this idea that some great developer would buy Vanguard and restore it to its glory.
It could very well end up being some f2p game that embodies everything that players hate about f2p games.

To be honest, this is exactly the reason I havent gone back. I cannot bring myself to get attatched to something I think is probably on life support.
Except that this game has been going on for several years. what's the longest anyone has really played the game of their choice?
Longest I've played was lineage2 for 4 years. Probably close to that for lotro. Off and on.
Many people have only ever played a game for 1 or 2 years moving on. I reckon that Vanguard easily has another year left. Maybe more.
I really see no reason not to play it for the duration.

I've been playing eq2 since about a month after launch, which makes it about 7 years now. I played vanguard in beta and about 3 months after beta I went back to eq2 full time. My wifes family played wow so I tried that, didn't enjoy it at all, so went back to eq2 full time. Tried AoC, War, Darkfall, and many others. Eq2 is still by far the best mmo going, and I will continue to play it until either they close the servers or release EQNext or whatever it is goin to be called.
Maybe you should give Vanguard another shot, it's changed an incredible amount since release.
I dont see Vanguard surviving the great SOE hack/blackout of 2011. Its a shame too, its a better mmo than EQ2, and given the same attention as EQ2 (expansions, updates) it would have been the best thing SOE currently has in its mmo stable. This is also probably the end of Pirates of the Burning Sea, and maybe another mmo or two.
Does anyone have a link to download VG as I want to come back and have another look at it and even get inot a decent guild if there are any left.

I think until Sony goes back on line none of the links will work. You won't be able to download anything through the launcher
So guess it will be June before you can give it another look
POTBS is only published by SOE, Flying Lab Software is the actual development studio.
I'd say POTBS is pretty safe.
Are people actually waiting to jump back into Vanguard after this long down time? How many players are left like 100 per server. I think that SOE should scrap Vanguard and save the money spent on a dying game.
