Games That Are One-Time Purchase?

apwhitelawapwhitelaw Member Posts: 12

Right now I don't want to spend money on a subcription fee, but I don't want to play some free game with item malls and stuff, I hate item malls. It's like a scam for your money, I mean you usually lose the item after a certain number of days anyways.

I figure a game that you maybe buy the disc at GameStop and then you play as much as you want, which is what GW is like. I've never even played GW, is it worth it to go try? I was gonna just wait for GW2 so I don't know what to do at the moment.

I'll give anything a shot that doesn't look too out there. I palyed All Points Bulletin back when that was not F2P. I liked it, but it lacked a community. Nobody played, but at peak hours there were anywhere from 50-100 people on each side, and there were like 3 servers or something. So lets say 100 on each side, times 3 servers, 600 on the whole game? Not too many. And that was just during peak hours, if it was not peak hours then there were usually between 5-20 on each side, it was terrible. Anyways, it was still fun either way, until it got canceled, but I don't want to play F2P and where you have to pay for in game items, so I'm not gonna go back to that when it comes out.

So what are some suggestions?

If you want a great storyline, i could say try Guild Wars 1, however, you may think it is outdated since ur a starter. Graphics arent everything, Daoc prolly best mmo, besides GW2, im with u there.

However, you can try Global Agenda if ur into Star wars/ Futuristic games, or try some F2p games that dont rely on cash shop (Runes Of Magic)

I was gonna suggest Guild Wars as well, but since Guild Wars 2 is coming out soon, you may want to wait for that one.

Guildwars was the first MMO I played and I loved it, bought all the expansions and played it for a couple of years - its a great game, and its a one time purchase

    BUT,

GW basically has the towns/cities/etc as hubs where you can meet and interact with other players, but the actual world is instanced to your group when you leave a city.

I agree with Guildwars as well being what will probably be enjoyed the most. Its a great game if you just want to hop on and kill some people real quick and hop off. I play it as a side game since it came out while I am currently playing Darkfall as my main game as its epic but probably not your cup of tea.
