Dead Servers (?)

Hi all,

Are the servers dead?

I made 4 toons on 4 different servers and leveled them to ~lvl8( Ele, Brandy, Silver and Fire) and they all seem DEAD. I said Hello in ooc, trade & regional channels, asked questions such as "hi,  how is everyone ?", "how is the population on this server ?", "am i the only one playing here ?", "can anyone read this message ?" , " how can i check the population of players here ?" and on all servers was the same answer = NO REPLY 8( no one replied, not even a single word across 3 channels on 4 servers 8(

Is LOTRO dead?  to me it seems like it is, what a shame because I was really keen to play it.

truely disapointed,

Axerin

Idk..Brandywine and Gladden were always pretty busy. Haven't been on Brandywine in a bit but Gladden had quite a few people on it about 3 weeks ago.

I dont know about the NA servers but the EU ones are healthy, at least as far as i know.

This strikes me as trolling.  Go to Bree and tell me Brandywine is dead.

Some servers are probably lighter but the newer ones especially riddermark are still pretty heavily populated.  If i had to guess, many prob moved to these servers.

This is not a troll, I really want to play the game and enjoy some company of others. Can anyone suggest a populated server please?

  • chrislekochrisleko Member Posts: 200

Brandywine is the most populated server.  You can't assume that becuase people don't talk in general that they're not there.  Again, go to Bree and look at all the chat.

There  have been suggestions in our responses...in case you haven't noticed. Brandywine was mentioned three times..so that's likely a safe bet and I personally prefer Gladden ......which is also busy enough that I moved my Brandywine character over..though Brandywine is probably the more populated. It's a great game and one of the best F2P games imo.

Brandywine, Landroval, and Riddermark are typcially busy enough in areas like Bree that it requires layering. The problem with OOC in LOTRO, is that it seems to be region-bound by default, so if you're not in a populated zone you won't get many replies.

I actually did log in 2 or 3 times during the down time because of soe shutting down the service.  Brandywine was busy.  I never see so many folks in 21st hall.

So there were tons of folks there.  I don't know what server the op is on but  some of the other small servers have always been dead even with free to play.

Thanks everyone, I will try the suggested servers.

PS. Barcrow, special thanks to you for making me understand what  "condensending and patronising" means.

i played on landroval, and it was busy last time i played a few months ago.  places like the elf/dwarf starting area were sorta dead but the shire and breelands on were busy.

i joined the glff channel just because it was a global channel and it often had people chatting in it, although most were actually using it to look for groups.  it seemed most didnt mind non group finding chat and questions as long as the trolling and inane stuff was kept to a minimum. i rarely took part since it was mostly people at or near cap, but i just like to see chatter when i play. plus i found the lighthearted bickering and discussions about various roleplaying styles humorous.

maybe because its the unofficial rp server, and people seemed friendlier to me, i almost always got responses to general greetings and questions in regional chat.

I assume you already knew what those terms meant... neither of which..despite your perceptions..have anything to do with my posts. Perhaps you skimmed the replies or for some reason didn't notice that those were server names. So I reiterated...sorry you took offense. Serves me right for trying to answer your fooking question. Hope you have fun none-the-less.

Try  leave the nub area then ask yourself if the servers are dead.

If it's not broken, you are not innovating.

Actually, in my 3+ years in the game, the only time I ever talked to anyone in game was in the "nub" areas.

Though then again, I started playing when the game was relatively new (1 year old) and there were actually people in the starting areas.

This game is pretty unusual in that almost no one ever talks or interacts without people outside of their guild (kinship). Most stuck up community ever.

Well maby because most long time players dont talk in the general chat anymore due to many server have a unoffical global chat.

I am sure it is probably a lot quieter now that the majority of older players moved on to get away from the F2P catastrophy.

landroval has always been busy seeing as it's the unofficial RP server

I play on Silverlode and there are plenty of people there. I've noticed however that "chitchat" remarks tend to get ignored by most of the populace. And since OOC usually is a crapfest, I turn it off. Though I will answer serious questions for help in advice.

What? The way people were raving just a few months ago, I got the impression that the F2P switch was nothing short of a roaring success. Perhaps altering the payment plan is only a temporary fix that breathes in a little new life but ultimately won't save the day.

I guess the sponge is fully squeezed ;)

Two pages of posts indicating the servers are doing well. One post of speculation both at server pop and why they mighr be that way. That one post is the one that you choose to take as truth.  Both psots, yours and Whar's, are fascinating in their special ways. :)
