General: Hellgate is Back

The Well-Loved action RPG Hellgate: London is coming back to computers near us, this time, as a free to play MMO. T3 Entertainment, Redbana and HanbitSoft announced earlier today that Hellgate would be returning in the form of an MMO, with a closed Beta running June 3rd through June 5th. Beta details are expected to follow on the game's official website.
Players are invited to return to Hellgate this June to fight for the survival of the human race. Join a party online to fight against evil with a team or play solo if you’re brave enough. Choose your character from six different unique class types and prepare for battle against creatures from hell. Arm yourself with a wide variety of weapons and armor and dismantle the ones you don’t need to obtain rare scrap metals. Enhance your weapons with upgrades and relics to have the best chance of survival.

"It's back" for a couple of days advertisement "closed" beta won't be enough. Awesome game but they need to do a bit more than a quick peek to gain credibility.
good news for me if its true, but arent theses the people who still havent released mythos yet? so maybe in 5 years?
No it will be f2p with a cash shop that sells respecs and a few other things.

I'm still upset. People who owned it should definately get some sort of bonus. Maybe a special armor look, or a title at the least.
Can't wait for CB for this. Played it the first time and up until it got closed, still play singleplayer here and there.
@bensculpt: Mythos was released by Red banana (and Hanbitsoft has the rights for EU servers) after they bought the rights to the game. The studio which used to own both Hellgate:london & Mythos went bankrupt and some of the remaining staff went off to create Runic Games (Torchlight 1 & 2, working a Torchlight mmo)
Since it's owned by a different company/publisher they don't really have to honor anything prior to them owning it. So I doubt they will.
I have to wonder about those that brought lifetime subs for the game. I am sure they will not get anything either.

I read about this a few months ago and apparently we never got the game here or somethin? I dunno but i never got to play it and it looked amazing!

Mythos has been released. After the original owners first went bankrupt, the right were bought by Redbana and has now been released. I've played so I know what I'm talking about

So did they do anything new with it? I mean.. there is a reason it tanked the first time around..
Still have a bad taste in my mouth from this game.
I am sooo happy! I put over 400 hours into the original version. Yes there were crazy players like me who really loved the game. I hope they changed the elite/nonelite and difficulty level split. I know they've changed the who subs vs. non-subs split so that's good. Hellgate was so frustrating because it seemed to do everything it could to keep players away from each other.

A 3 days closed beta ?.. If I remember correctly, the game still had bugs and issues when it went down.. no ?

holy wow... this is really exciting I was always wondering if there was a way to play it outside of the US but I never discovered anything. This just made my day... I can't wait for beta!!
Really ?.. With live servers ?.. Thought this game went single player only with Flagship going belly up.. (Much like Cryptic these days.. realise it was the same man doing..? ... Just sayin..)

You can play the Japanese beta if you dont mind not being able to understand the language,you will have to set up a vpn though which the link explains how to do.
Yep, I just confirmed it from Wikipedia:
Namco Bandai Games provided free ongoing US/EU server support in the fall of Flagship Studios until 31 January 2009, when the US/EU multiplayer game servers and websites were taken offline.[5] HanbitSoft has since acquired properties to the game and it is being developed and played in Korea to date.[6] As of 2010, Hanbitsoft has acquired the US/EU territory rights and will be re-releasing back to the US/EU territories with its sequel Hellgate London: Resurrection.
Hopefully that means the game is ironed out by now.
