Rift Rant :-P

Once the new game feeling fades after the first month or two or even three what do you think of it and what do you do ?

I ask this because i have some time life on my Rift account on my 3rd month but alas my interest is dying with every passing day from struggle of finding groups between the fail LFG system,my fail guild which is one of the biggest ones on the server but not many answer a question in guild chat about if anyone wants to group for whatever reason. I had got my fill of this game working on two characters both are lvl 50 and decently geared but what made this game original to me is also what becomes a problem of sorts. I'm not terribly sure if server merging will help that much if you get the same kind of people in guilds that won't reply to simple questions and don't really give a damn to help other guildies out why the hell are you in a guild to begin with ?

For these reasons and more i just decide to cancel my Rift account and restarted my GameFly account but after i get my fill of my ps3 gaming i'll need reasons to either go back to Rift or find a new mmo game all together to start playing. I played a good number of mmo games and most i quit after afew months they either had some major flaws such as lack of content, population sucked, or pick any other reasons to quit these games. The last game i played before Rift was DCUO and that lasted maybe a month or two i hit the lvl cap on two characters noticed the end game content wasn't what i expected and spent the rest of my sub time making and deleting characters trying different powers.

so far there are only two i've look at but both are pretty far off namely Guild Wars 2 which i read Nov.2nd and Star Wars:TOR which haven't seen a release date yet so kinda out in the cold on that one. If anyone knows for sure that GW2 will be F2P like the original please tell me because then i can save that money and throw a party instead to celebrate :-D

I had your problem but with EVE. I never found a guild that could hook me up to the game, thus I eventually left for other games. Sometimes it's a matter of luck to find the right people to do stuff and enjoy yoursef around them.

As for Guild Wars 2, the game is confirmed to launch in 2012, considering when they have placed their beta chronologically. As for SW:TOR, it is possible that they'll release in 2011, but I have the feeling that'll be near the end of the year.

PS: This probably belongs to the Rift forums.

GW2 is B2P (have to buy the box) just like the original and there is no confirmed release date as of yet. Beta testing will begin in the second half of this year.

As for Rift, couldn't really care less about the game.

You're right, but still, any kind of info slip is better than no info.

Yeah being in a guild now days mean nothing, you will still have to deal with the bad community in your own guild, it sucks!

I have been in 15 guilds in RIFT and none of the help on anything, they  just be helping RL friends or long term buddy groups from other MMORPG.

I also took a break from RIFT, got my assassin toon to level50  pvp rank 3, owned so many in world pvp with ease other than lame OP clerics! Clerics is so damn OP in RIFT it's not even funny.

No info slip. It was in the quarterly NCsoft conference call. If the game is confirmed for 2012 there would be a date set for sometime in 2012. And development on the game will continue in 2012 even if it launches in 2011. The link proves nothing.

But this is thread derailment and there is no point in continuing this conversation here.

If you're interested I can give you tips on how to deal with (I assume) healing clerics. You should have no issue with any other kind.

oh sorry about posting this in the wrong section its like 2am and brain is elsewhere lol

but hey atleast its something to read that doesn't involve someone just trolling :-p

what i used to do is play WoW get burned out pickup a new mmo for a month or so get tired of that for whatever reason and resub to wow for longer then before and repeat with another game at the time most mmo's kinda failed lol

well lets see Age of Conan,Warhammer online,Lotro, only one i enjoyed for more then a month or so was City of Heroes/Villians but haven't felt like playing that in awhile. then when i got back into wow awhile ago i think that was about a month or two before Cata came out played Cata for maybe a month or two got 3 toons to 85 then got tired of it played city of heroes for a month and then resubbed to gamefly then cancelled that and got rift for 3 months now cancelled that and resubbed to gamefly and really hoping GW2 is coming out this November lol.

What i've just noticed is i have some strange habits with MMO's lol  not sure if alot of people have these habits.

What i'm refering to besides cancelling/resubbing,picking up new ones is more what i do on those games like making and deleting toons that are high lvl or maxed out delete out of frusteration. i must've  deleted my hunter on WoW about 3-5 times lol

but i had a mage & shaman that were leaps and bounds better gear and all.

There is something about Rift that left me feeling totally apathetic toward the game. I felt no desire to advance my character. I didn't enjoy the minute to minute gameplay. I think it was the tired old combat system and the laundry list quest grind that did it to me. I never cared much about my gear because it was always "good enough". I never cared about my level because it was always appropriate for the quests I was receiving. Even the rifts themselves failed to inspire me. Overall I think I am simply tired of the WoW formula and won't even be trying any more games that copy it.

I think the guild makes a big difference, I could agree with a lot of things you are discussing regarding style of play un originality. But i am enjoying the game more because of the guild i am in over the game it self. It  has the people helping, others running levels, the social aspect, now we are not a large guild we have only about 35 to 40 active members. I have a very enjoyable time in the game because of that.

The game was released and that is it, nobody cares anymore.

This is not a game one can love or hate, just to shrug and confirm it is there.

I have been playing rift after the trial snagged me. I honestly do not enjoy very much of it outside of pvp. but I absolutely love class based pvp that has no blatant cookie cutter setups or balance-ruining overpowered classes.

@OP: I think it's a safe bet to say that GW2 will release in 2012, and from what it looks like it both SWTOR and TSW are likely to be released sooner if their proclaimed release window still holds up.

For SWTOR that window ranges from July to Dec 2011 (will almost certainly be later in the period of September-December and not July-August if there's no delay that changes their earlier statement)

For TSW that's Fall to January 2012. But that statement was given last year, so this might have changed as it often happens with MMO's.
