Definitely going to keep a watch on this. I'd love it to be a no-tab-target ffa pvp game, but this isn't Darkfall. The premise and setting of the game sounds refreshing. I will most likely sub at some point early on, barring a major SNAFU that's kills it. Something like Orks invading Philadelphia or something.
Already found out which "secret society" I'd belong to via the game's website...I'm going...yeah, it's a secret.
im extremely wary of playing anything that Funcom produces, especially after the failure of AoC. The one thing i didnt like is his answer to the pvp question. He basically said that pvp is in mini-games=bg's, which means world pvp will probably be completely pointless just like in every other mmo these days *cough* Rift *cough*
guess ill skip this one too
I suppose you should if pvp is the only thing thats important to you
i used to follow the game and if i remember correctly there WILL be open world pvp in a kind of underworld setting with objectives and resources that must be controlled by your faction ala DAOC frontiers, the surface world being pve content to group with anyone to keep the world safe, and the underwolrd to further your factions goals and gain more power. At least taht is what was posted a while ago, it may have changed in the many moths since i activly followed the game.

Sounds kind of like Shrines of Bori in AoC. They have announced Battleground style PvP and this system which sounds like a similar setup to AoC. I wonder if they will have full on PvP servers as well. I hope they take the concept of the new hardcore PvP server from AoC and make one of those as well.
They may be against that much open PvP with the story and atmosphere they are trying to set up. Imagine them weaving this dark story and you are in dialogue with a creepy old man and then some player comes up and ganks you wearing nothing but underwear while bunny hopping in circles and typing LOL at the same time.
I have been playing Anarchy Online since it was released. AO has close to 100 different skills that you distribute yourself after each level up. For me THAT is what makes AO complex and unique, and keeps my attention. TSW got 500 skills.. Hold me!
If you want to read Ragnars Anarchy Online book you can do so for free here --> "A prophet without honour".
My genre preferences are Fantasy and Space. But the TSW stuff I have read and watched have caught my interest. Unless something happens I will buy and try the game.
PS: PLEASE do not make Hollow Earth and Mooncity PvP only - please. Making one group happy by making another unhappy is not the way to go. Let the locations make both PvP and PvE people happy - not an easy thing I suspect.
Looks like it will be too linear, too instanced for my taste. The trend nowadays is to make mmorpgs like single-player games, WOW started it with phasing, TOR is focused on personal story and this one with scripted missions.
Unless this "secret war" between factions is something new and exciting I'm passing this one.

Hmm what a pitty you can't tear into me.. I guess I'll have to wait for the launch of TOR and TSW, these two revolutionary mmorpgs.
Name me a MMORPG that uses "open world" PvP that is successful.
Remember, you're a member of a "Secret" society. Joe Blow in the Illuminati shouldn't know that Jane Doe in the Templars IS IN THE TEMPLARS. I think people are imagining running around NYC doing the TSW equivalent of NBSI and blasting everyone. So much for "secret" society.
EvE online.... is open world and successful...
Now Funcom will FAIL again.. trust me I have beta tested both anarchy online and Age of COnan and they are morons.... this will fail remember you heard it here first...

hmm I was in closed beta of AOC we begged them not to release... said the game needed anther 6 months to a year.. they would have been the next big thing if they hadent Instanced it to hell... 55 versions of one zone is not good game design.. There Engine is Flawed they have to little Money to make anything decent... So Funcome just hypes it to the skyes and hope people buy the product...who cares if more then 50% quit after the first month..
Well i sure hope it's not like you say and that they don't give a care about ppl leaving the game after buying the retail box or wtv coz well... that's just not good business tactics.
Anyhow so far the game does look very promising but like with all MMO's i take my aproch without raising too much hopes (that way my disapointment won't be that big either) but like other games recently, they are promising that your actions(or lack of them) will have an impact on the World around you.
I hope that means that if ppl neglect to save an area from a wave of creeps that they will keep progressing through out the whole world map and other similar situations

Exciting but....... its funcom so temper your expectations accordingly.

'The secret war is on the horizon.'
Is that why they keep showing the moon just about the treetops? We're gonna be fighting on the moon?
