Pirates of the Burning Sea

Opinions?  Pirates of the Burning Sea will be out soon and I'm kinda looking forward to getting in on it.  Just wondering what you all thought.  I thought it was kinda interesting that this would be the one perfect game to use turn based combat seeing as ship to ship battle is basically turn based.  You fire a cannon, reload and get hit if he fires at you.  Just a thought.  I'd really like some feedback on this though.  Any comments welcome!  Thanks! image

I was really looking forward to this game, well stil am, just not as much.  I found out that on board ships animations, like sending your crew to raid another ship, won't be in the initial release.  Lost interest until that is implemented.  The mission system sounds interesting, along with being a well known pirate or pirate hunter.  Plus this team is trying something new in the way they build and release their game.  Instead of implementing everything for release and releasing a whole bunch of features full of bugs, they are releaseing the game in stage.  Once they get some milestone features finished they will release them, hopefully with minimal bugs.  Sounds interesting and I hope they aquire the fan base on the initial release that keeps them going.

i dunno this kind of mmorpg really isnt my type of fancy ,  im really big on EQ, DAOC , horizons , AC type games , ya know the typical D&D fantasy type game lol,  and in EQ the typical mix of JR Tolkien as well ...Rivervale ..come on lol. But really i mean  im sure this will appeal to some people but it is awfully wierd , its not like your conventional sci fi or fantasy mmorpg so from my point of veiw , that might just make it work on sheer originality

i think the reason it doesnt fit in sci fi or fantasy is cause its more like a  historical thing , there were pirates in rl  and have been where as sci fi , its stuff that hasnt happened but might happened and fantasy is more about thing that are legends and myths to exist and happen , but u know for a fact pirates existed , and for anyone ever wondering what the style of life might have been like back then i think this type of historical mmorpg will fit them perfectly

Well, it looks like it's a different type of MMORPG that at least I have never seen and I'm looking very much to at least try this game. Sort of get away from the Fantasy, Sci-fi.

Sounds cool at the way they wanna do the updates and release the game.  I dono, I guess this kinda looks like something that could hold me over for a while in the never ending quest for the best mmo.  I'm excited to see what the combat system is like though.  I wonder if it will be full on turn based or if you can actually kinda circle a ship while firing at it to avoid shots or whatnot...   I dono, just curious.

you really think so?  I was kinda hoping that the character itself would have more to do with the game rather than it just being the ship more than it's pilot.  I guess I'll have to see when it comes out but I wasn't too big on earth and beyond so that kinda makes me a little worried.

You will be able to get off your ship and roaw through costal vilages.  Wether or not it will be in initial release, who knows.

See, thats fantastic that kind of attention to detail making everything more lifelike and giving us the freedom to get out/off the ships and roam around is exactly what im looking for in a game! I cant wait till this comes out!

Finally a manly game without some knight in a 400pound battle suit doing backflips.

I have been looking into PotBS for about a year now; and I want to play it..badly! I'm incredibly tired of D&D clone games (even though AC is fun, it's time to move on after 5 years).

Ever since I was a little kid, I was always fascinated in 18th century naval combat: so this game definitely grabs my attention. And the fact that the devs at Flying Labs are using either actual or similar ship schematics of the period to build the ships for ingame use, is definitely something I'm looking forward to.

It doesn't bother me that at the initial release will only contain ships on water. I've been waiting for this type of game (especially an mmorpg) for a very long time. And I'm very pleased to see that a very dedicated and talented dev team is behind such a huge project.

I can't wait till it comes out, and hopefully it'll satisfy my every need and want in an mmorpg. image
