I've been trying to find the name of a game I played about 10 years ago, but thus far no luck.
I'm looking to re-live my childhood memories by playing them old PC games I had before. Unfortunately I gave it away to my cousins in Taiwan, and now I have no idea where to find it. I was born 1990 and remember playing it around 1998-2000.
Since it's a really long time ago, I can't remember much of the details...
It's a PC game (RPG) where you start out with 1 character, then more friends join. I remember you had 4 party members (max) in your team running around and defeating monsters. I don't think there was a "enter combat" stage, I think it's just you meet the monsters and you kill them. (the 4 characters ran in a row) They were miniature people running around probably 1-2 inches in size? on a normal computer screen.
The art is most likely japanese drawn because of it's animeish faces.
I also remember that this was probably translated into Chinese...and finding the save button was a pain in the ass because it was in one of the skills that the main character had. If i was to give a color to the main character, it'd be blue.
I also remember that there was this blonde mage girl who is one of the party member. Sho died and thus left the team, then later joined again. When she died, there is this cut scene where she talks (with blood streaming down from her head). I was really sad when she died. I think her lightning special was very powerful.
These 4 party members can be configured to only use attacks, only defend, only use specials, and etc. There was a general story plot to it.
PLEASE GUYS, PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!! I DON'T KNOW THE NAME OF THIS GAME!! The characters were nicely drawn, it doesn't seem old at all.
Thanks so much guys!!

maybe one of the final fantasy games????
all the game that i can think of aren't on pc or not old enough
i was thinking the same thing
its one of the Final Fantasy games...
its not 7 because there is no blonde mage
neither is 9 because there is no blonde mage either
but if blue is what you remember i would probably say 5 or 3
Actually it does sound like Final Fantasy 7, where Sephiroth kills Aerith.

hey guys, I don't think it's final fantasy because there's no 'enter battle scene.' I would just click and these 4 people would just walk around and kill people around me.
I think it's more towards after 1995 or 1996, I remember that the art was pretty good to be THAT old. Any Japanese RPGs come to mind? No online feature, nothing. Just plain old CD in PC :]
Thanks guys
scepterra core maybe not sure how to spell it
yeah but (SPOILER)
Aerith doesnt come back... and i dont remember lightning on her either
@OP how about secret of mana? its 1990 though
a game with no enter combat sequence for PC... im thinking diablo
here check this site out, has some of the most popular games for PC in 1980-1999
they have 68 games on their list
http://www.goodolddays.net/list/genre%2C3/p%2C2/
I checked all the games mentioned above, none were it
I also checked the links, I've been to most of it lol
I think the RPG is anime based and I got it when I was in Taiwan (asia). And I played it in America. So I'm guessin that it's probably not well known in America. This only makes my life harder...I'm pretty sure it's NOT final fantasy though
And it's definitely NOT diablo lol cuz I play diablo. Thanks for the suggestion though. The party members were visually shown while walking and they were walking in a row, one after another. No enter battle scene either
WHY IS THIS GAME SO HARD TO FIND
Lufia series maybe?
no enter battle scene means for those that dont know that u fight like baldurs gate style where thaere is no transition from map to battle back to map. Seems a few people are confused about that.
I want to know what the game is now cause i want to play it lol sounds awesome i love jrpgs.
Hmmm. Maybe something from the Suikoden series?

Silver sounds somewhat like it but if u can remebr wether it was 2d or 3d that would help some. Alos half of u guys are mention all games that have a battle transition phase.
I'm pretty sure it is 3D as the art is pretty nicely drawn. I checked all of the games mentioned above again, it seems like we are getting closer, but no go.
IF I EVER FIND THE GAME, I WILL POST IT HERE FOR EVERYBODY TO ENJOY :]
GO GO GO EVERYBODY KEEP TRYING
I'll keep looking every minute or so.
My best guess? Grandia 2, came out about 10 years ago, 3D graphics, blonde white mage character, it's as close as I can get so far, if you have any more specifics it'll help but searching the web for an asian market game 10 years ago is going to be "fun" so to say none the less I'd love to help you find this game that brought you so much enjoyment in the past!

Dang, that game is close, but it has a battle scene when it meets monsters and such. I remember specifically that there was this scene where the blonde girl pops up (story mode)...OH OOPS. I MADE A MISTAKE. The blonde girl (mage) first LEAVES the party saying that she has something she wanted to do. Then later (much later), near a cliff I think, she appears and rejoins the party! AND IN THE END, this blonde girl dies with streaming blood coming down (wasn't that grotesque) from her head. *SPOILER*
sorry, i had to spoil it to define what it is.
But Grandia 2 has the basic idea where the characters follow after each other.
So did everybody give up on this game? XD looks like I really have to call cousin in Taiwan. I gave it to him over ten years ago. I'm going to hope that he still has it.
If anyone else has any OTHER suggestions, please help!!
THanks!!
My only guess is GoldenAxe?
LOL golden axe is much too old XD
after i find out, I'll post again and let everybody know!
Hey Guys, I was desperately trying to find the game, but then I ran into another game that I actually own. Another one of the old games
In english, it's called The legend of justice and evil. I highly doubt that ANYONE has played this before. This is made in Taiwan and everything is in Chinese LOL. It's basically this mage guy who woke up as a skeleton in his home town. He was instructed to get 3 things, a cape, a pumpkin head, and shoes in his town so people wouldn't be scared of his looks. All these items are found in his home town. After that, you can go outside of the town to follow the story sequence. There is enter battle scene for this game.
The english parts that are written on the top of the CD:
Legend of Justice and Evil (under chinese title)
VA...TTN Information
That's it.
There's a slight problem...I got it to install on my Windows XP, but then the speed is wayyyy up and it's kinda hard to walk around in high speed. This game probably needs a Chinese Language pack to install properly.
If anyone is interested or has a solution to my problemo, don't be shy and gimme a reply
