Guild Wars 2 guru is CTD(circling the drain). the place is FUCKED.
somehow that asshole Chalky was made omnipotent, mods like Kattar threaten banns if you disagree with female posters, etc. i only stay around there because Beta info is likely to be posted there first.
Forums all have their own quirks, but GW2guru is really against freedom of speech in general and they only want people there that will glorify the game.
That's not exactly true. It's more that it's about their own personal opinions, and since they're not on an official payroll, they don't have much to lose if they act on their own bias. For example - I've seen pictures removed in a picture thread simply because they were of a topic that one moderator didn't like, not against the rules or anything, but the posts were simply deleted.
The mods do have a high view of the game, but it's their opinions, it's what they like about Guild Wars 2. There's no fear about being fired and losing out on money if they misuse their power, so they act on bias. I see mods often acting on this premise: "Does this fit my view of the game and support my own views as to how the game should be? If not, is it violently opposed to my own views? If so, can I get away with a quick deletion?" And that's wrong, but it happens, and there are too many people saying it happens (in this thread and others) for it not to be true. Too many people have observed it happening.
This is why I hope for, if not a forum, then at least some form of official feedback form system with Guild Wars 2, something where ArenaNet can get opinions from everyone, even if those opinions don't agree with a small group of people who feel a little power in their belly and like the sensation perhaps a little too much.
If you want a good example of how often this happens on Guru: I remember one thread back before they fixed a forum bug, the thread had 38 pages, but only 24 could actually be accessed, the rest amounted to silently deleted posts. No mod admission to those post deletions, nothing said about them, no warnings given, no reasons offered, just deletions. Only 24 pages accessible of 38. And it's even easier for them to do this now that that bug has been fixed.
Guru is fine, but I don't think it should be a source that ArenaNet should take with anything other than a grain of salt in regards to public opinion. Either ArenaNet should have their own official forums or their own official feedback forms at least.

Arenanet has a official forum but not the type for fanboys and such.

Wow this is awesome news. This is one of the things that was lacking in original GW. Now I am hopeful for a new official forum for GW2.
Locking thread due to necro posting. There is also already much discussion about fan forums and the new GW forum in this new open thread. http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/318431/Guild-Wars-2-May-get-a-official-forum-look-Inside.html Feel free to discuss the topic in there if you'd like.
