The Rift dev team has announced that it will be conducting a massive PvP Battle Royale on the public test server beginning today and lasting for the next three days. Developers will be on hand beginning at 4:30 p.m. PST today to guide the test and are looking forward to hearing feedback from players about the PvP changes being implemented in a future patch.
We encourage those interested to login to PTS PvP at least an hour early so you have enough time to setup your character, hotkeys, and PvP gear to your preference.
You will be required to create a new character on PTS PvP, existing characters are not able to benefit from the Prestige Rank vendor and would need to manually grind Prestige Rank which is not possible in this time-frame.
An NPC will be available in both Guardian and Defiant tutorials to take you directly to your capital city, merchants are located near the Porticulums in each capital.
Each evening's event will likely run no more than a couple of hours and involve running multiple warfronts as we listen to your feedback and monitor the results of the recent changes. We look forward to your constructive feedback and helping us to thoroughly test these changes on PTS!

this game is carebear pvp with no arenas or ranking and low risk vs reward ... no keep no outdoor pvp and a poor WoW unbalanced imitation. Its the best WoW clone yet to come out but their version of pvp is not as good. Arathi Basin and Warsong Gulch for exemple never gets old but in Rift their BG maps arent as fun... melee classes with like 5 abilities with different cooldowns that does pretty much the same amount of dmg ... spam them in that or this order ... yawn. Bring me FFA pvp outdoor with objective. Even Daoc which has a very bad classes design has a way better pvp system with 3 factions and good outdoor pvp. New mmos arent as good as the old one when it comes to pvp and Rift is just an exemple of that. NOBODY ever came close to Ultima online PvP and the fun you could have pvping in Asheron's Call. Dark Age of Camelot in its prime is also a good exemple of how pvp should be. not this new Queue for some more mindless BGs that no one cares about
Sorry but this is not a game I would consider for "PvP". They butchered it in the beginning and I think they now know actually how many people want some meaningful PvP when people left.
Rift pvp is boring. I petitioned to change the name from Rift to "Healathon". Largescale pvp solely depends on who has the most healers and patience lol. I played for a month and was greatly disappointed in their pvp balance. I couldn't queue up in League of Legends fast enough!
Going to be tough to find any PvPers when most quit a month ago.
Isn't the title of the og the news sad? lol
Well I agree with previous post, I mostly leveled to max because I was interested in Rifts PVP, but I've stopped playing a week after turning 50 though. It's pretty boring, there's nothing except battleground grinding. Rift joined my "maybe in a year or so"-list, but experience showed very few games leave this list :P.

It's obvious that PvP in Rift was just an afterthought- it was executed terribly and while it was somewhat fun while leveling from time to time as a break from quest grinding at level 50 it is the very definition of grind.
I quite enjoy RIFT but its pvp is pretty much of a muchness . I'm sure there will be something similar to WoW arenas coming along sooner or later . I would prefer to see more risk involved in mmos . It would be far better if the losing side got either no reward or minimal reward . It migth make those playing actually want to learn tatics rather than treating battlegrounds or warfronts as a deathmatch . It just gets boring when one side or the other dominates . Allowing people to level through Warfronts was also a big mistake . Levelings too fast in RIFT anyway . Good game but could have been better if they had'nt gone so far down the WoW route . I proberbly will return now and again but like so many mmos these days the emphasis on a rush to max level gives them a very limited shelf life . I'm back in good old Lotro now .
It was a very bad example of how to balance PvP.. In a PvP game heals are supposed to neutralize (or break even with) damage, basically if someone cast heals on themselves, they should only be able to "tank" one MAYBE two attackers at the same time, anymore damage on the stack should overpower a single healer..
In Rift, one.. ONE healer can tank a whole group in a warfront by simply spamming heals on themselves.. They do it with an almost limitless supply of mana (VK's got nerfed because they actually COUNTERED healers.. imagine that?) And if that healer has a healbot you can forget him as a target.. Wayyy more successful than a warrior tank (that has been repeatedly nerfed)..
I could not understand their plan for PvP at all.. I grinded the warfronts for as long as I could stand the overpowered healers and then they release a patch that further nerfs warriors and brings mages to the forefront of damage dealing..
The Puzzle Cube stumped me and I had to drop it and just run.. Run away..
Sounds like only casuals are going to show up for this bad boy, not a good sign for this type of thing.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Dear Trion,
All the PvP players have moved on after realizing RIFT brings nothing to the table PvP wise other than war-zone grind for better gear... AKA the same process a raid player does but for PvP gear instead.
No meaningful PvP means no PvP players. Those left that claim RIFT has PvP are morons and don't know good PvP when they see it.
At least WoW has the Arena system... and no kiddies that is not PvP either.
You want PvP? Play Darkfall / EVE... anything where you stand to lose something be it territory or everything on you or both. PVP gear grind does not make a good PvP game.
Thanks,
All intelligent PvP players.

That made me lol.
Fine, we'll compromise. I'll get my way & you'll find a way to be okay with that.
I do my best to add humor into every post when I can, though in this one it was just blunt honesty... which so happens to be funny for being pathetically true.

Im so glad that a certain kind of players are gone, it makes rift a better game They lack so much knowledge of the game and yet they pretend like they know anything about it. The most fun/tragic part of some posts i read is that they neglect the topic here - it's a pvp TEST. They will check feedback and analyze things!
We're all trying to get to the top. Some do it with intelligence, others do it with charm. Some do it the only way they can. They lie, manipulate and scheem. What they forget in this instance though, is that there's no top to climb. There's only a little fantasyladder in their mind and no matter how many steps they take up, they wont move one milimeter in life.
Anyone who follows these news here knows this site attracts some sorry people and expect there to be a 5-6 first posts with anything and everything negative about whatever topic there is.
Im having great fun in Rift and im not alone
Do you seriously sign with "All intelligent PvP players"?! I think that what you wrote is only your opinion and that you want to give it a bit more weight. If you're intelligent, use words to add weight, dont manipulate.
