I miss that too...I am all about getting out of my ship but I still want to be able to spin my ship around and look at it in the bay.

  • NizurNizur Member CommonPosts: 1,417

Yeah the walking is a bit weird. It's a bit delayed and it's nothing like a FPS. I'm not sure why I expected controls like a FPS, but I did.

I'm still in the air about whether I want my spinning ship back.

Seriously? you want to spin your ships... alright lets abort Incarna completely because these guys wanna spin their ships!

    *sigh*

I never spun my ship.   I want Incarna and I cannot wait until we get the rest the Incarna updates over the next few months added to the game.   This is exactly what this game needed, a "human factor", and we're finally on our way to getting it.  It was long over due!

What's the point posting here? Go post on the official forum, like CCP devs gonna read it over here anyway.

Because it'd be sooooo hard to allow people that option, right?

Would have been super nice if they added a "Dock to Captain's Quarters" and a "Dock to Hanger" option. Then people could get the best of both worlds. And of course, add an "Exit Ship" option to the old station hangar view.

I tend to agree. People dock for different things at different times. You could even have to dock, one way or the other, to perform certain task. For example, you could dock to the general ship hanger for general task, and the CQ to do more specific task. This would be more realistic and immersive IMO

Its not that people dont like the new Quarters and models, Theyre nice and the detail is great, but for those of us running the game on an older system that could play the game fine but now have to deal with menu lag while docked at a station its more annoying than anything... especially since they didnt even let people have a choice between keeping their ship hangar or captains quarters, Its now the quarters... or a static picture of your quarters. Not fun, and a pretty stupid mistake on CCP's part to be honest.

Didn't at some point they promiced us that you don't have to use in station GUI if you didn't want to? What happened with that?

    So much whining...

    1. You can turn incarna captain's quarters off.  True you can't spin your ship.  I'm sorry.

    2. I seem to recall an equal amount of angst when they introduced warping to zero.  "Piracy is dead in eve!! Dead!! This game will fall appart!!!"   Funny, here we are some time later.  Still playing eve.   This too shall pass...

    3. for the first time since I joined mmorpg.com I agree with Teala.  this is EXACTLY what this game needed. Give. Me. MOAR.

I think by releasing just a tiny part of avatar movement, they now have all this time to refine how it works, lighting, shadows, etc....see how they can ease the cpu load, optimize...

They've essentially made us all incarna beta testers on their new engine....brilliant.

in a few months...we'll be running to find and hug teala in Jita as she breaks out her dancing shoes once again...right T?

Yep...that I was.  I was co-owner of the Brass Bantha and we were pulling players in night and day!  Fun times!  Cannot wait until the rest of Incarna is unleashed.   I am so glad CCP is doing this in steps though.  Imagine what might have happened.  Remember a couple of expacs ago when they use to release an expac all at once?  Remember how EVE would be down for days and days at a time.   This is way better.  They release a little at a time, make sure it is working, fix what is not, then release a little more, fix it...release a little more, fix it...etc, etc, etc

By the time this all gets released EVE will literally have been morphed into an awesome MMORPG and no longer a game simply about Inetnet Spaceships and spreadsheets....we'll have our characters!  BTW EVE now has some of the best looking characters in any game I have played for an MMORPG.  Cannot wait until Incarna is fully implemented - EVE is going to rock!!!!

I like it. Looks good. Runs fine for me. I like where EvE is going with this and I can't wait for more.

However, I don't always want to get out of my ship when I dock. sometimes. I just want to pull into the hanger, grab what I want from storage or deliver a courier mission and then leave. Getting out of your ship every time is not really very realistic. And the only way to avoiding it being to disable it completely is also stupid.

When I dock I want to find myself in the hanger, still in my ship with the ability to do at least most of what I was able to do in the past. load, unload, talk to agents, refit, repair, that sort of thing. Mission and ship related functions. If I want to get out to visit someone or to simply stretch my legs while looking for my next mission then great. Put a "Disembark" or "Enter Station" button somewhere on the hanger view. But don't make me disconnect, drain, puke up bio fluid, clean up and get dressed just to tell an agent that I finished their mission or to load something into my hold.

    All die, so die well.

Overreact much? I'm certainly not saying "abort incarna". I like the idea behind Incarna and the promise it holds for the game.

What I'd like is the option to view my ship in hanger instead of seeing my quarters by default. Someone mentioned the ability to dock in hanger or dock in quarters. As in you choose which one you would like to do when you initially dock. That would be nice.

I'd rather walk around in a station with my character than have the ability to spin a ship around pointlessly.

This coming from someone who is very anti-incarna too.

And I dont know if you guys have seen this, but more info on the MT's in eve... http://www.mediafire.com/?n8ohtufd1mtamgb

It's basically an internal doc/ memo on how they want to put in cash items that will affect game play. :/

And here I was thinking that all the in-game talk about spinning ships was talk about some combat maneuver. Now I found out they just want to spin the camera around their ship while it's docked.

    Weird and...

    ...nevermind.

It's an Eve meme. "spinning ships" is equivalent with saying that you're not out in space currently, but chatting / doing stuff with the interface like production. Or that you're bored.
The CQ removed functionality of the UI for inventory interaction with no replacement, while draining an incredible amount of resources. A quick test with a trial character revealed that the CQ put more stress on my pc than arma2 in benchmark mode. That's quite an accomplishment for something with negative gameplay value.

I agree. It seems weird that if you dock, you automaticaly leave your ship. I'm surprised that they didn't leaving docking in station the same and just added a disembark button if you wanted to leave your ship. Getting in and of your pod seems like a lot to go through just because you forgot to put something in your hold before you left station.

Its negative gameplay value NOW. Got to keep in mind Incarna isn't done. What was just rolled out is a piece of the whole Incarna update.
