Bioware Hacked?

RenoakuRenoaku Member EpicPosts: 3,157

I just checked my email today and I got an email from what appears to be bioware getting hacked which compromised a lot of security info on my personal account along with information but it is said my credit card information is safe.

I have over 30+ accounts across many different MMORPG games, and games I have played wonder how many times these hackers will be able to get my information and for what purpose.

We recently learned that hackers gained unauthorized access to the decade-old BioWare server system supporting the Neverwinter Nights forums. We immediately took appropriate steps to protect our consumers’ data and launched a thorough ongoing evaluation of the breach. We have determined that no credit card data was compromised from the servers, nor did we ever have or store sensitive data like social security numbers. Our investigation shows that information such as user names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, CD keys and birth dates from these forum accounts on the system may have been compromised, as well as other information (if any) that you may have associated with your EA Account. In an abundance of caution, we have changed your password to ensure account security. (CENSORED)  Please visit thisto reset your password immediately.

We take the security of your information very seriously and regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. If your username, email address and/or password on your EA account are similar to those you use on other sites, we recommend changing the password at those sites as well. We advise all of our fans to always be aware of any suspicious emails or account activity and report any suspicious emails and account activity to Customer Support at 1-877-357-6007.

If you have questions, please visit our FAQ at http://support.ea.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5367/ or contact Customer Support at the phone number above.

" Please visit thisto reset your password immediately. "

That should be your second hint. The first hint was the subject of the e-mail.

    -EDIT. I STAND CORRECTED.

It really was hacked LOL. I got the same letter and just assumed it was spam but I just checked up on it now. I guess I might of made an account when I was posting in the Dragon Age forums about all the crappy bugs in the 360 version of that game.

I got this to and for obvious reasons I was unwilling to use the link, After checking the Bioware site and trying my login (which failed) I used the direct EA password reset site.

Best to be safe than sorry, even if Bioware/EA did reset peoples passwords that doesn't mean the e-mail is legit it could be the scammers fired off a mass mail before the official e-mail arrived.

    Currently playing:

EVE online (Ruining low sec one hotdrop at a time)

    Gravity Rush,
    Dishonoured: The Knife of Dunwall.

    (Waiting for) Metro: Last Light,
    Company of Heroes II.
