I dont think LotR will have nice grouping, and D&D solo will be limited. In such a case, I hope D&D will get more interest, but I wish they both could have a good solo and a good grouping system...yet I dont think it will be the case from what I read so far. LotR been a solo centered game need to outmatch Morrowind, which I dont they it is doing, which will prolly hurt them a lot unless they can make soloers prefer LotR over Morrowind, which is an extremely doubtfull concept ATM.

I'll be going with D&D Online if I choose to go with either of them at all. I'm not 100% impressed with DDO, but, even though I love LOTR, I don't think the MMO of it is going to fly that well. First off, you can't join with Sauron's forces and play as an orc or one of the evil humans? That just sucks. :P
D&D will be the better one - twitch combat and focus on PvE (which holds true to D&D games)will hopefully mean that it carries the flavour of previous D&D games. Shame its not set in a better know D&D location though. If its good, i'll play (but probably as a diversion from my main mmorpg).
LOTR will be rubbish. No PVP is tragic. Seems like an unoriginal grind-fest to cash in on the name.
Oh and Turbine are rubbish - so neither game may actually be much good
What the hell does that mean? Sell more copies, sustain more subscriptions, have nicer graphics, best packaging ... what about making a useful thread insted of this stupid crap.

D&DO will be ultrainstanced GW ripoff, meaning there wont be any immersion...ADD cant really work without being turn based as the ruleset WAS created for turn based gaming.
Turbine is doomed to be one trick pony...after original AC, they have failed to publish one single succesfull expansion/game.

Ya know, all MMORPG's dont have to follow some kind of mold where they have to have everything to make everyone happy. It IS ok if some consentrate more on solo, or more on group, or have PvP or dont or whatever.
Its like a cheesburger from burger king... They dont make all the cheeseburgers exactly the same way, they let you choose, do you want pickles, onions, katsup, mustard. Maybe you just want katsup, maybe you want onions and katsup, maybe you dont want anything and just like it plain. They dont try to make the All well rounded cheeseburger to please everyone with the perfect mix of pickles, onions, katsup and mustard, so that theres just enough of each so that no matter how you like your cheeseburger, you will like the 1 version they sell.
There are enough MMORPG's out and comming out, that we can "Have it our way". If you dont like the way one is turning out, just forget about it and move on to the next one until you find the one you like, people need to stop trying to change EVERY one that comes down the road into their version of the perfect MMO.
None, I don't like turbine games too much. AC and AC2 are ok games, but nothing special.
I think giving those 2 franchises to Turbine has been a big mistake. But I strongly hope that Turbine proves me wrong, in particular on D&D, which I am a big fan of.

Correct, they all sound like an everquest clone IMHO. (besides the twitch combat, but many games coming out will have this, also with a lot more innovative ideas.
People saying bad things about Turbine aren't elaborating at all. Big surprise. Turbine is one of the best MMORPG makers right now. Asheron's Call is the best mmorpg ever made. AC2 is a good game currently, but everyone still judges the game based on how it was 3 years ago. 3 years ago! These people need to admit that they don't know what is going on with AC2 these days.
In my eyes, Turbine made a great game and a good game. That's not a bad record. But how can anyone predict how good either of these games will be without playing them? You just have to wait for the beta test. Don't lock into a judgement now, because you might not want to download the beta, and you could be missing out big time.
If I play any Turbine game, it'll be Asheron's Call 1. Twitch anything isn't my cup of tea, and if I wanted real-time skill advancement, I'd play EVE. Okay, actually I do play EVE, but that real-time skill system is my least favorite aspect of an otherwise good game. I'd be interested in playing in a Dungeons and Dragons setting and I'd be interested in playing in a Lord of the Rings setting, but the core mechanics behind both games are complete turn-offs to me. Fortunately for Turbine, I'm an odd duck with somewhat atypical tastes, so I'm sure both games will do just fine.
I wonder if there will be an all access pass from Turbine that includes both DDO and LOTR, that could draw a few of their current AC base over into their new games. It would also draw a lot of people that want to try both for a bit.

DDO , twitch based combat > all
Both = no PvP = mistake
The Best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.

Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.
Both sound interesting, but I'm leaning more towards LOTR.
DDO sounds just like Guild Wars (everything is instanced) but with the D&D ruleset and a monthly fee (whaa?) To be honest, I'd rather play NWN.
LOTR is a persistant world in a familar universe. Could be pretty cool.
