It went down at midnight pst with no real warning or note that the servers are coming down. This is how it was done in the past. No warning to go find a safe place to log-off. Just down and most normal downtime is couple of hours or 8 max. This is way too long and all the sites down as well. It sounds like they spotted an unfriendly and their network admin went "dive dive dive".

You may not have been aware and thus decided there was no real warning.
It was in fact posted on various SOE sites that this was going to happen... well in advance.
While it could be security related.. it most certainly was not without prior notice.
*edited to add* the only reason I was even aware was because I decided to look at my SOE account a few days ago. While roaming around I saw a notice about downtime for the 12th. (it was the 9th I read about it because it was before I took my GF out for her birthday).
Apology for the paranoia, but it isn't without good reason. Plus, they normal put announcements in game. I rarely frequent the forums to check out down times like this. Anyway, glad to know it was predetermined and not forced on them - yet again.

Should be normal maintenance. I suppose we'll see.
