Great game... cool concept, fun community and what-not but sadly I think you'll be one of the people who wind up dropping it and flaming it.

Mortal Online has the *best* features and graphics, etc described but cannot commit to it. The only true hope for this game dued to limited resources would be for it to pull a Fallen Earth and go into GamersFirst library.

Who cares about graphics? Most true sandbox players care about content and gameplay not pretty graphics.

If you like sci-fi, try EvE online

If you like fantasy, try Darkfall online

I checked mortal online. full loot and full PVP is what sent me the otherway. I like crafting more then anything. So until they change it to a TEF system I'm not interested in UO like asshatery and wont be again.

Whats up with these sandbox games that have full on loot gankery? why man just make it so if your an idiot and get flagged you get your head lopped off. I like the fear of knowing i can die anytime anywhere but jeez have a few options i say. Niche games have small communitys and like it that way. You need to almost always purchase extra accounts and dying niche sandboxes are no fun.

Sandbox games need to ditch the full loot, that will get much more people interested. I personally play sandboxes for the crafting, not the full loot.

I agree. For some reason though devs seem to think sandbox means full loot pvp. SWG is the only game that I've played that got it right..well pre-cu anyways

The ganking in Mortal Online is largely overblown.  There are some negative ramifications to being a murderer in the game, which does put a bit of a control on it.  Not saying that it never happens, but it doesn't happen nearly as much of the time as some people may think.

That, and it is one of the best fantasy sandbox games currently available.  It's not perfect, but it is pretty good in my opinion.

Let's be blunt a bit more Rohn. There are negative ramifications to your casual player who wants to be a murderer, but a guilded up pack of reds who's only intent is to grief some kids will do so. You see it countless times, these guilds taking over zones (cool and all) but with it puts a toll on all new players. You cannot even venture too far out to kill creatures and obtain the goods without some decked out geared clan coming in and wrecking you.

Again, a good game and probably the only good of it's kind (Darkfall looks like so much junk).

Ya a group of 3 maxxed out reds can hold down any noob city goblin spawn. Because udually the only maxxed out players who are there are there to kill noobs. Real players are deeper into the world. I think it would help to add some more guard towers in the starter areas... Not that guard toweres really hurt maxxed out players.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the combat 1st person view? If so, that is enough to keep me from trying it...even though I will always prefer sandbox games.

  • TruthXHurtsTruthXHurts Member UncommonPosts: 1,555

Combat is fixed 3rd person, but if your weapon isn't drawn it's 1st person.

    +1 for truthiness.

Good sandbox game with nice environments... id suggest entropia. F2P game. Very enjoyable if you like sandboxes

Altough this game isnt for the impatient. If you would like to progress in the game in a timely manner, your gonna have to drop some cash into the game here and there. Professions play a big role in this game, Crafting, mining, Hunting, Can even build houses. uses the crysis engine i believe. Community is definietely good, lots of helpful players that help out the newbies. Might be worth checking out. If you do decide to play it, try to get into a new player friendly society.

    Currently Playing: LoL,EVE, Rift

    Future Games: WH40K:DM, Tera Planetside2

    Past Games Ive tried:
WoW, FE, AoC, WAR, LotRO, Tabula Rasa,GW, and Many F2P games.

I like your sugar coating of entropia. You can't build houses in entropia, you can purchase apartments or a shop. An apt at the cheapest is around #30. The apts are usually around concentrated spots but I don't find them all that immersive because the game is this.

    Entropia Universe = Slot machine

They cover up the slot machine behind a game. Every bullet you fire, every mining bomb you drop, every time you try to craft, every time your armor gets hit, every time you use a vehicle, you spend real money on it.

For example, on a hunting run i'll put in 300 in-game currency which equals $30 and then i'll go hunt and sometimes i'll get back $15, $20, $30, $30, of course you can get lucky and get back $300 like i did but the game functions like this.

You put in X amount of cash for mining/crafting/hunting and you get back approximately 80-90% of it in value over time. THat 10-20% is taken by the system and about 50% of that may be dished out to players. Every day a person wins about $1,000 to $2,000 for each profession. That's over thousands if not hundreds and thousands of clicks on the slot machine.

The way to stay afloat in this game is to exploit markup :)

Either way, it is sandbox style, people are friendly, but the game intrinsically sucks in my opinion and i only played it due to my gambling addiction. For a sandbox, they need more things to do other than just mine, craft, hunt, play the market.

Then again i'm MMO hopping and i don't think anything is better for me at the moment than this game. At hte least you can take something out of it if you get lucky.

Oh well, i'm rambling. i'd suggest you try it i guess, it needs more players imo to be even more successful but that' sjus tme.
