President of Sony Online Entertainment John Smedley said that the monthly fee made the company feel obligated to provide free constant upgrades and new features.

Here's my question To DCUO, what were you doing during the downtime? You could have made more content but it looks like you just went to sleep. So you withheld Green Lantern, huh? Thanks for that information.

*laughs out loud @ at the way the majority of the writers here said they loved the game so much and were having a blast with it when it launched.

Wonder if any still play or think that.....?

I"m still playing, I"m on it daily. and the cash shop they have really isn't as bad as everyone here claims it to be, it's about on par with Guild Wars DLC shop. now charging $10 for the GL DLC for me it's fine I been waiting for this since launch and it's no different then buying any other DLC off the PSN it's just the direction the gaming industry has been going.

And, no. This is not an expansion pack at all. It's nickel and diming of the worst kind.

This is equal to the adventure packs that sony sold for eq2 except they are wanting more money in the case of dcuo's version of an adventure pack. That failed in eq2, I honestly can't believe they are trying it again. I am telling ya, fire smed and soe will move back up the mmo ladder, if not, then they will remain a piece of crap company. I honestly am not looking forward to eq next at all because I already know smed has already screwed that up and he will screw it up more when or if it ever comes out.

I completely disagree. That is NOT the direction the gaming industry is going. First off, most dlc packs are for games that you bought once and are not paying a monthly subscription fee. Normally if there is DLC in an mmo, that mmo is free to play. Sony is trying to take it into a completely different direction and they will not win.

Well it could be worse they could drop the p2p an go f2p an charge everyone $10 a mission.

    YUP

this means i wont be coming back to DCUO. i enjoyed the start, but the lack of powers, and basically anything, i had to quit after a bit as i got bored. a game should keep you interested, this they failed to do. Now to make matters worse they want to charge for something that should have been included in the beginning? not on. They should have a good hard look at how CoX is doing it, and how CO struggled till they went F2P. this release should be free and it should reward in some way members who have stuck with this game, but they wont. the almighty dollar rules $OE.

They never claimed all updates would be free, and they certainly never said there would be weekly or bi-weekly updates. Good grief, people think they can just make up anything. What's next? "I heard they promised daily content updates, and they said they were going to give players cash bonuses for playing!"

They originally said there would be free monthly updates. They never said there wouldn't also be paid expansions. They weren't able to keep up with the planned monthly updates, so now they're just periodic updates. They dropped the ball on that by overestimating what they would be able to provide, and they've admitted as much.

Right; so instead of pumping out a monthly schedule of 'free' content, they took developers away from that so they could concentrate on packaging something to sell.

    Nice.

    That's exactly it.

They claim that they have more than one team working on things. They're simply lying or the team that's working on bug fixes and such is on an extended vacation or has been busy sleeping during their shifts...cause the game is still buggy to the point of where I felt they should be paying me to play it or at the very least, still calling it beta!

Like someone else already stated, I love DC just wish it would have never ended up in the hands of Sony Online Embezzlement.

And that's the only reason why they pull this crap in the first place...cause sadly there are people that are foolish enough to support it.

Okay..  Stupid stupid question, but I have to do it.  Does anyone have a buddy pass that they could possibly share?  I buy almost every MMO that comes out and most of them end up being disappointing.  If I spend another $50 on something that I don't touch for more than 3 hours, my boyfriend will kill me.

unfortunately i have to agree, this sounds like just a way to get people to keep paying extra..ive held off buying this game cause of this fear, and here they go and confirm it..after you spend the money, and spend the money for the monthly they want you to spend even more for extra content...i think not
