LOL
I have a hard time deciding which is funnier: Brian claiming he's a company rep making 'official' statements on MMORPG.com or the idea that a company thinks Mourning is worth salvaging

The company's lawyer is reviewing everything right now, just to see if they tried to slip any fine print in. Hopefully by next week this time, I'll have a copy of the paperwork in hand, and can begin getting a press release drawn up, provided the paperwork doesn't forbid a release yet. Again, before someone jumps on my case about that line again, as stated earlier in this thread, there are occasional times that press releases for any purchase isn't allowed immediately after the sale. To be honest, we're at the mercy of Limitless Horizons LLC when it comes to the rights to the game until the paperwork is signed, filed, and any sort of gag order expires. Also, as I've said already in this thread, once it's LEGALLY allowed, all the major game sites will get a press release, and a copy of the paperwork (minus the signatures) so they can verify the transaction. We're still discussing what to do with these rights though, so stay tuned for more news when I have it. So you've told all these random strangers on mmorpg.com about your sensitive takeover plans before they happen (and your company is ok with that) but you will agree in your purchase contract with Limitless Horizons that they have the right to "gag" you until they see fit???!!! You need a lawyer- i'm happy to offer my services on a pro bono basis.
We have a lawyer already. The problem from my understanding was that the original deal wasn't fully agreed upon as I was originally told. Hense why our lawyer is reviewing everything again now. And to be honest, I have no problems with a gag, as it'll give us more time to decide if the project is worth salvaging or if we're just going to gut it and take the engine. And for those who get a laugh off this thread, keep in mind I'm not the one reviving it. At this point I only pass on the little information I get.
I think the mourning devs are doing this little charade in order to fool us into thinking mourning will go under new management - in order to save their game. I dun believe a word - the guy who posted above is too forthcoming with little results.
If this goes as planned, everyone will think mourning will have undergone a change in management, and return to the game to give it a second try. I think that that is their plan.
Not to mention the fact he's not above touting the wonders of other MMO's. Devs of an up and coming MMO may occasionally talk about their MMO's in COMPARISON with another MMO but they'll never say another MMO is awesome or better than it's competition.
Nor do they call people who may one day consider playing their game "Morons".... just bad business
I don't believe a word he says. I just get a kick outta him

Umm, I have NO ties to Limitless Horizons, thanks. It will NOT be a change in management. More like a whole new game period. They'll still have the rights to run Mourning, but if we decide to run it as well, there will probably be a 4-6 month redevelopment process where we'll be fixing the bugs, finishing the stuff they only half did (or less), and adding in lots more content. The servers will NOT be the same as they are now, and you'll need a new client in order to play. Again, for some reason a handful of you think that we're buying out the company. That's NOT the case. We are based in the US, have no ties to Dave or the original devs, and will not have communication with them once we officially have the rights. Will you just give up the conspiracy theories already? Even Egomancer said "I don't know who this guy is" because I'm not at the top of the company, I'm about 2 rungs down. I personally am not in the negotiations. This was supposed to be a done deal last week, but as I stated earlier, there were some disagreements. When I can finally back up my claims with a press release, I will do so. In the meantime, will you comspiracy theorists get off my back? This is not Roswell.

Nope, this guy claims there will be one mourning. Dave and Romanian friends will go away and a new devolper in the US will take over(gut it). God knows Dave is losing lots of money from mourning. So brains crew will buy the engine, game name and everything about mourning. Of course, I doubt that any of this will happen............
Yeah but read the bit I quoted from Brian's post, he flat out stated that the original team will still have the right to run Mourning as well... Personally I've never seen a shared intellectual property before such as this... which is why I'm even more confuzzled now... I could buy the whole "complete buy out" story, but the idea of 2 companies running the same game is a bit wonky...

It would be sucide for Dave to keep supporting Mourning. I mean the game has 3-20 people online, and most of the base core feels ripped off. He need a escape, mabye Brian is the way out. However, Brain gave the empression that Dave was going away with the Romanian dave team, so who knows...
Or could it be that Brain is a fake-buyout by Dave?

Actually you're wrong. We're buying the rights to the game. Chances are they'll be closing their servers. We feel no threat from LH continuing running servers. As I've stated at LEAST a dozen times in this thread, we'll be fixing the bugs, adding new content, and changing the name. This is not completely unlike what a lot of Korean and other asian development companies do. They license their game out to several companies, and some change some of the content as well.

Hilarious! This is definitely the best thread for a long time!
If someone on the mmorpg.com staff could lock this thread, I'd appreciate it. This has been off topic for entirely too long.
(Edit: And for the record, even though we have the rights to the property, we'll probably just "borrow" a few of the models and such to use in the game we were originally planning on doing. This is mainly due to the fact that a few bad seeds spoil the bunch, and we at Sorizian Animation Gaming Studios really have no desire to open a community up for a new Mourning, and deal with the complete immaturity and asinine comments of a handful of people. When we get our website up, and get the copywrite on our design documents, I'll have a press release sent to here.)

Brian, you started it, and now you take the consequences
and we at Sorizian Animation Gaming Studios really have no desire to open a community up for a new Mourning, and deal with the complete immaturity and asinine comments of a handful of people.
Damn, this is really starting to sound like Dan from Mourning. The same threaten comments to people that have legitament concerns about your merits. If you also read into this statement, is it like Dan communnist comment about how this "community" will want only want the "good" opinions, and they will ban/not deal with the outspoken.
Can't you see Dan saying something like this:
" and we at Horizons LLC really have no desire to open a community up for Mourning, and deal with the complete immaturity and asinine comments of a handful of people. "
actually, no, I cant see Dan doing that, not his style of writing, and he doesnt creat alts to pass his agenda..... See the publisher though, he has been known to create many an alt.... many....

Why not out all this scumbag (Dave) on all of his alts? If thier is any good side to the devs mebe this may make some sense of everything. C'mon Natty out this dude he ripped alot of people off and if the dev team is made of decent honest people give us proof.
More complex than that my friend. Remember the boards were wiped, and before that the developers deleted his account (s) the first time Spoonbender made the original big post about Mourning, and the whole mmorpg invasion, etc . There are no links, nothing to show that Dave, admin, admini, queen of the damned, etc, etc ever existed, but he did, disparaging members, and trying to alienate the community.... The fans that are there now have no clue of what happened as they are so new, the old time mods, well, not their place to comment.... But, trust me in the fact that Tiamat (Dan) is a good guy......

The thing is that Dave is the one giving most of the funding for the game. How could you kick him out, when he is really their boss? He is the real sumbag behing it alot. However, as far as I have seen through logs, Dan seems to be one of the friends posting IP address and banning users left and right(NattyDread was banned for the "8th rule"). He and was with egomancer causing the mmorpg.com upset and the suing of somethingawful.com. It's hard to place all the blame on Dave, when it looks like others had a part in Mourning's downfall.
