Dawntide: OB

marinridermarinrider Member UncommonPosts: 1,556

So I recently discovered Dawntide and I decided to download it to play / test in the open beta, but after getting the downloader it says it can not connect to the servers.  On the website it says that the servers are both up and my update log says their system is activly refusing the connection.

Can anyone help me or confirm my issue.  The beta forums on the official site arent all too helpful.

Damn, I was really hoping it was just me.  This is unfortunate.

Right below where it shows the servers are up there are patch notes.  First line reads: Server will remain down a few more hours as we're making some final fixes to weapon attachment points.  This was posted today.

barely a year in open beta, they don't wanna release the game early like every other indie and have trash. I have played this game since alpa and it has come a long ways....

The game still needs work but they have a small team with limited cash, other than the combat everything is looking good.. The combat has improved but I still dislike the older style point and click  trash, I wish they went more twitch, like MO, DFO.. Even Asheron call would of been fine..

I still play the game at times waiting for release and I wil but this game for sure. I hear though it may be just a  monthly fee only though. Which is fine with me.

Having been in both the Darkfall and Mortal Online betas, and having played them both post-release, I can attest that Dawntide appears to have a better method of development. Namely, patience. It feels like, all features included, that Dawntide has more working features right now (with no release date in sight) than Mortal Online had at release. I'm not hating on DF or MO, as I played them both thoroughly and enjoyed them, but I feel like the development team here in Dawntide, though possibly smaller than either of the other Sandboxes mentioned, is taking its time, as it should.
