i get so bored of all current mmorpgs with their boring combat system. casting a fireball that shows a little bar saying casting fireball 2,5s is boring and time wasting to me. seeing someone elses fireball fly to my character wherever i go and even flys trough objects to hit my char is boring and unrealistic.
Many people here dont but i am really waiting for a real hack and slash mmorpg done right! but i have little hope for any of the hacking slash games that come out this year. Still have some hopes for TERA but the latest things they have showed did not really blow me away.
so.. does anyone know a online hack and slash game i can play till some real mmorpg comes out to fit my needs?:) the only thing i would like to see in the game is that player skill is required to win.

MMO: The only one i see is Vindictus.
RPG:Titan Quest is fun but a bit old.
else: wait for Guild Wars 2
guild wars one has had new content released and will get more along the way till the released of gw 2
since gw2 is a long way off still there will be a lot of bridging content!
It's not you who is burnt out, it's the genre. Least we have voice overs to look forward to in our next spoon fed PoS.
LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
want to try a game that lets you dodge those fire balls, and arrows? has no classes totally skill based and has no CC to hold you back from fighting multiple people at once?
look into the past the game is Asherons Call its about 11 years old now, the graphics are out of date but the game is still one of the best ever made.
Your statement is both incredibly insightful and amazingly refreshing. More power to you sir.
I can't wait for the day when people on these forums get over themselves.
@OP: I see the GW morons have invaded without reading the "hack and slash" part. To answer your question:
-Mount & Blade
-Dragon Age 2
-Dungeon Siege 3
-Darksiders/God of War maybe?
RIFT was a *crushing* disappointment; a shallow, loveless, generic MMO the likes of which hasn't been seen in a P2P format since, well, forever.
Eagerly awaiting: World of Darkness, ArcheAge.
same here, havent been able to stay in a mmo for mor than a week lately:(
constantly looking for something new but cant find anything...
Now I'm waiting for swtor, hoping that this will bring back the passion:P
and I know, the combat seems boring and old, but I'm hoping the story will give a unique feeling, but only time will tell I guess...
And TERA... well it's...fun... for a while:P (played it for a couple of months, kr version) and yeah, the combat was fun, but the grind got real heavy in higher lvls (30-40) but I'm looking forward to see if the westernization will change that or not:)
And this cute little line is somehow more insightful and refreshing? And then you imply I should get over myself when you are the one throwing personal insults. Sarcasm aside I was simply expression dissatisfaction with yet another year full of warcraft expansions with separate subscription costs. But sure, for you, i'll get over myself ... as if it will help.

seriously since when is guildwars hack and slash? its the same old hotbar system.
and gw2 is the same the combat is a bit tweaked but its far from a hack and slash. im sure more people grow bored of it theres a high change gw2 will go the same as Aion every getting all hyped for a huge letdown while if Aion did release at the time world of warcraft did it would have been the best mmorpg on the market.
indie developers know what it takes to make a good mmorpg only they do not have the recourses to make it work.
have been playing mount and blade for a very long time now. that game has the content wich needs to be inplented in a mmorpg
Sorry to say, but azmundai is pretty accurate here.
This genre was once great because there were only a few options and to survive they HAD to be great. Now it's become like any other gaming genre riddled with shovelware titles.
Hey, it makes a change from all the sheeple coming into a LFGame thread to bemoan the state of current MMOs. Notwithstanding the fact that "get over yourself" has nothing to do with personal insults, I don't see why anyone, especially the OP, gives a crap what your view of current MMO trends is when he was asking for a hack and slash game.
And, well, you've obviously played TOR since you know it'll be a WoW expansion. How can I refute such well-sourced knowledge (that was sarcasm, since you're such a fan of it)?
@OP: Have you played all the MB expansions and the multiplayer? Both of those add a lot of replay value.

Yes, telling someone to get over themselves is quite original. You are a true poet. The OP expresses discontent at the current industry and I share his view or at least his sentement. I didn't post how you want me to post so you jump down my throat. Again, refreshingly original and insightful.

Welcome aboard!
I know this isn't what you asked for, but I suggest http://www.spacepiratesandzombies.com/.
Kind of shameless advertising, although I have no connection whatsoever to the devs. I just think it's that awesome .
At what point did I say *I* was refreshing and original? I was merely saying you weren't.
But you're what I expected: you see something (the use of the word original; people whining about TOR; people whining about MMOs) and jump on the bandwagon.
I actually jumped on you because I'm bored of having sheeple come in and start spreadin' the WoW/TOR/DIKU hate because they think this is a sub-forum where people give a shit about that.

I agree with this up to the point of the genre lacking diversity. Quality games that offer more than the traditional combat system and the holy trinity are just about unheard of.
To the OP if you want a hack and slash try Vindictus. I enjoyed it for awhile.
Still waiting for them to release it in europe but nexons (coming soon) is a few years
and im just as bored with people who cant seem to tolerate anyone who doesnt agree with them or has an opinion they feel the need to express. are you new to the internet or something? it's not going to change no matter how much rhetoric you throw at it. but I should get over myself.
sheeple isnt an attempt at a disguised insult? truly, I enjoy being called, and truly respect the perspective of those who refer to others in terms of farm animals.

Speaking of Nexon, Dragon Nest comes out tomorrow, in NA at least .. looks a bit more and slash. Going to give it a shot, but anime is usually not my thing .. but theres nothing else to play till TOR .. which I will probably only get a month or two out of anyway .. but .. yea

wow !space invader 2011 or such!played game similar to this back in the day on console!loved it a lot surprisingly but was a solo affair back then!
May not be entirely what you're looking for, but check out these two games
Return of Warrior
Divine Souls
Good luck in your search for a new game. I too am tired of the way the genre has rapidly declined, recently taken to playing Fallout:new Vegas, Amenesia and Penumbra instead while waiting for the next (decent) influx to be released.
If you're burned out on mmos you should try just leaving them alone for a while. You're not enjoying them anyway, and absence makes the heart grow fonder.
I've been on burnout for quite a while, but that was cured when I discovered the MOBA genre via League of Legends. It's refreshing as it's completely different from other mmos (well, it isn't even an mmo). You might look into it as it's immensely skill based, although it obviously isn't hack n slash.
