hello am new to this website and forums just wanted to stop by and say hi and to wish you all good on on winning a spot in the beta am trying myself :P

 

one more thing for the website admins when you sign up for beta it asks to get your winnings you have to have your age name and address what if i didint put a name down cuz it dont say i need one can i still get my winnings by my age and address or something?image

    Winners will be asked their full address.  If the name/city/state/country portion of this does not match your winning ticket - you will be disqualified.  So make sure you are using your real name with your MMORPG.COM account if you are entering our contests.

    one more thing why is it your picking 30 ppl and having 15 winners? just to give you more of a good luck to get in or something?

    Because we like to close the contests right away.  The first contests we did we drew the winners and then only 80% of them would claim a ticket.  So after 24 hours we would have to hold another drawing to fill the missed 20%.  Then 20% of those people would fail to confirm, etc, etc.

    The solution was to draw more than enough names and create a fair way to issue tickets to everyone at the exact same time (we accomplish this by sending mail to your home account as well as your @mmorpg.com mail account).

    Even with this system it still seems to take 12 or so hours to get the full winner count.  Although I speculate that the Horizons beta contest might claim up quickly image

    do you know what time you will start drowing the names of people? cuz am 3 hours behind you guys and i want to make sure if i get picked to get in as soon as i can :P befor the others take my spot if i do get in that is lol

    Midnight EST.  The front page has a countdown timer, that is roughly when the drawing will take place.  Or around 15 mins thereafter :)

    Both.  The contest page (current signup link) will become a list of ticket holders (30 of them).  It will then show the status as each one confirms.  When 15 people confirm it will mark the other 15 slots as *closed*.

    so when you get a email it will tell you what to do right ? i see you put your name and address in but when you confirm it how long dose it take dont one of you have too look at it or is it got to match your user info or something?

    Confirmation is automatic.  Your e-mail will give you a code and tell you a web page to go to.  That page will ask your info and for the code.  As long as the code matches the one issued to you by the system during the drawing you will win.

    Winners will later be analyzed and disqualified if cheating is detected.  If this happens we will randomly select replacements from the remaining 15 ticket holders.

    Don't sweat it - as long as you are around the site at midnight EST and checking your mail and you win - it will all be self explanatory.  We have had 6 of these contests in the past and we have never had any troubles with people not understanding how it works.

    how do you even cheat at a contest unless you work for them lol... so all you really need is the code and one more thing do we get to download the game or is it mail CD?

    People could try to cheat by creating multiple accounts with different names, locations, etc.  We check all winners against other entries for duplicate names and city/state combinations.  If we see someone tried to enter the contest multiple times they are disqualified.

    I am not sure on how the beta delivery is going to happen.  Us staff were supposed to get our accounts and still have not image  I guess when we get ours I will know more about the process.

    Well, my husband is a member of the site as well....so we would have the same address.  Tho I don't think he entered the contest. image
