Suggestions for a Free MMORPG?

JesterDevJesterDev Member Posts: 44

Really bored today, and looking for some fun. I really want to play a Free MMORPG with huge dungeons. I remember playing a few awhile back but could not tell you the names. Really looking for something Elder scrolls style with allot of focus on exploring. I prefer to go it alone personally, but do like playing with others at times also.

Fastasy is a must, no sci-fi/modern themes. Just good old swords and magic! :)

Sadly, I don't think there are any free ones worth playing.

EDIT to clarify...no free ones worth playing that are:

    - mmorpg,

    - free,

    - focus on exploration,

    - huge dungeons, AND

    - group emphasis.

It's been a while since I last looked into this, but if I recall correctly you have a wealth of initial options:

    1) LOTRs

    2) D&D Online (name?)

    3) WAR (Warhammer) ~ trial is first Tier free?? v good for pvp.

    4) Vindictus: Korean v intense action instanced DUNGEON mmo... if I remember correctly?

    5) Regnum Online: Free Realm vs Realm vs Realm

    etc.

  • lotro is free to play until lvl 30 or so. from then on its a grindfest, but yeah if u want to eat the dev's money that's fine :D

until that level there is barrow downs, a big dungeon. it shouldn't take too long to get a group going for the fun of the dungeon, this game is more about fun and quality than for example, WoW..

there is also the epic storyline you can follow alone and some dungeon i think that you can do alone. so, until lvl 25-30 or so there's enough to do. but that's your cookie :D.

    Pretty much this.

However, if you're looking for exploration, DDO or Vindictus might not be for you because they're instance based. LOTRO has a persistent world, but idk about the other 2 since I haven't played them.

one of the most outstanding is LOTRO with its F2P/"itemmallchunky" version when u want no real taste of pvp, because it is on of those games where u have to get to lvl 100 and then u can make ur first kill at pvp and even then most of the itemmallers will out lvl and equip u anytime.... so are u really sure ur up for another epic questline without a singel real pvp emotion?
