Tera in Japan 35$ a month.

CalmOceansCalmOceans Member UncommonPosts: 2,437

They announced pricing of Tera in Japan, but many seem to not want to play it after they heard the news. What you think? Will they change it, and how is that going to affect prices here?

That fee is SICK. I rather give that money to the poor.

Everything in Japan is expensive, mmo is no different. They know lolicons will buy whatever the price may be, and $35 isn't so bad.

Sounds absurdly steep. But how does it compare to other subs? Are they around the 15$ equivalent there as well?

    That difference is?

They are removing panty shots and idle movements.

It's censored for the Western release, less "sexy".

Tera was free to download in Korea and then you paid the monthly fee. How is it in Japan?

  • redpinsredpins Member Posts: 147

Did anyone bother to do the right math and comparison? When I look at Aion and how it launched over there, it was $8 a month for buying the time slots. Now $35 for some cheap in game thrills still seems to much for me. I have to wonder though, if they are exclusively going nuts and buying whatever for outrageous prices, why would I want to release a game to USA and EU? WoW holds most of its subscriptions in Asia, and it is no wonder and for what reason. Lesson learned, don't bother trying to get away with that here if you can already somewhere else.

I struggle not with life, money, emotions, and world, but against old mindsets and selves to be proven obsolete in a age and time of rapid changes. Go create fun, so you can have fun.

80$ in dollars for the "premium package", don't know what that includes.

    Most games are around 60$.

OK so from this link K-Tera is about 17.80/mo so I'd expect an increase from 15 around the world.

As someone who lived in Japan 8 years I can say.. The yen was at 76 yen per dollar yesterday... Back in 2005 it was about 120-130. Do the math yourself folks =)

People really need to stop reading sankakucomplex, because the author is a paid hack from Ncsoft, and trust me in the next couple of months he will be spewing all sorts of lies/half truths to make Tera look bad.

It's 3500Y per month for the unlimited fee, wich is the exact same price as Aion or any other Korean game in Japan. It's the going rate. Just like 14.99 is the going rate for mmo's in NA.

I hate artifact with a passion now...him and his top 10 craptastic lists, should of known that was a troll. I just visit the site for the stock of pics.

Still, they will hack up the game from its former glory and I don't think a mod will solve the problem.

Because this is suppose to be a free country yet everything we do or have is censored by either the religious or moral views of the people we elect into office.  America is less free than most of europe let alone korea, japan.

    You spoke my thoughts exactly.

The US is on the verge of censorship equal to that of China. — REVOLUTION.

This statement is false, the price is high only because the life in japan is high, the 35 usd is pretty normal for p2p mmorpg there, is the standard like 15 usd in the west and it has nothing to do with content. In Korea the price is almost the same, same for bds or every media, the price is double.

     wtf?

that's a rip off especially when you take in consideration the average income over there...... i guess now i know why Japan's nationl debt is 200% of gdp.

Guys, this discussion is about the pricing in Japan and speculation. Discussing westernization should take place in threads open that are on that topic. Doing so with references to different cultures is fine, but conversations about censorship as it relates to politics or nations should be over in the Religion and Politics forum.
