I'm gonna buy GW2, and probably going to do a trail for SWTOR(If they have one.......which they probably will.). GW2 just looks like the better game, and most likely will be the better game.
I hope SWTOR will last me as long as Rift did (around 4 months) as for GW2, it doesnt matter if i sink around 100 hours into that game it will be worth it since there is no monthly fee.
Well ... how do you answer this poll if you dont have a DEFINITE answer ?
I am planning on buying SW:TOR - but I am getting doubts if that is the right decision.
I have quite some fun in Vanguard ... so should I REALLY leave this game behind ?
Honestly, yes: SW:TOR looks nice. But my left toe already tells me it wont be able to compete with Vanguard. All I heard of the combat system sounds pretty, well, mellow. Oh, they have no autoattack. Err, ok - why does that matter ? Also, they claim they have found a simple and fast paced system. And before my mental eye I see The Witcher and Dragon Age, both of which justified their crappy (for TW) or rather underwhelming (for DA) rulesystems with pretty much the same choice of words.
And there is the factor EA. Dragon Age 2 (and Mass Effect 2 apparently as well) already proved that EA is massively putting Bioware under pressure. Profit, profit, more profit, and MORE profit. So - what exactly will make them stop from meddling in the same way with SW:TOR, too ?
And then there is the small group size. Thats a real bummer. Only 4 people in a group ? What where they thinking ? Having at least 6 people in group is fairly standard for MMOs other than WoW, and even WoW still offers at least 5 people. I fail to get the logic behind this.
Granted, SW:TOR will have the good user interface and great story content of all Bioware games, of that I'm fairly sure. But that wont be enough if the rulesystem wont be of the quality necessary for a good MMO.
So yeah, I'm definitely NOT sure if I will buy SW:TOR, or not.

I actually answered your question in my OP ...
If you're on the fence, that counts as no you won't definitely buy it.
Over the years you'd think people would start taking a more sit back a watch approach.
SWTOR may break all sorts of records but there are a few it will certainly break, such as most disappointing mmo of all time, most cancellations after one month, if you really look into what they have showed us so far you can tell the engine is horrible, combat looks very weak, story telling may be strong, but i doubt it's going to be riveting the entire time, the stories will probably start out awesome, and tapper off into mundane boring repetitive my friend is sick and needs these special plants from this area story lines.
Anyone who claims to be an avid, true and dedicated gamer..will buy both .
Anyone who has common sense will wait for the reviews.
I don't think i have established anywhere in my post about buying both games before or after reviews. All i said was that any true gamer will buy both. But thanks for your opinion.
so your saying that if the reviews for SWotR are crap I am not a 'true gamer' if I dont get it?
lol...
No purchasing of any single game makes anyone a 'true gamer'. How ridiculous.
Always looking for un necessary arguments? if you are basing your decisions on reviews and have alreayd not pre ordered the game why are you even bothered to ask this question?

You're welcome. I wish I had the time and money to try every game ever released. I'm not sure how that makes me less of a gamer. Do you buy games that look like garbage?
yep i would i play garbage all the time then i make my reviews on garbage and what i dislike about it garbage is awsome depends on the garbage

I could care less about the looks. After playing FFXIV, i have realised that graphics are overrated.

Sorry, but that is just crazy to say. What you think of as a "True Gamer" could, and most likely is, very different than me or others:) I do not like most of what Bioware puts out. So most likely will give SWTOR a pass.
But that is not written in stone:) depends on what i read/hear/learn after release. Guild wars, i played so long ago, it really has no bearing on GW2, so again will wait and see.
yeah i beleave him a gamer should try out the game before he or she makes judgements. i mean i am a gamer i play wow and all the wackest games in histroy then i can say why i dont like it you have to get hands on the game before judging the game.
There was actually an interview I saw not to long ago that some guy at arenanet discussed the relationship publisher - developer, and said there were many companies that made bad deals, or there was a lot of controversy in their relation.
He also mentions that NcSoft pretty much leaves them alone, which is quite obvious from the fact that they said at the start of GW2 production that it would be ready in 2009 or at least in closed beta phase, and we are at Q3 2011 not even signs of a closed beta. So I'd safely say that NcSoft is either a very patience publisher or has a lot of trust in GW2/arenanet

Depends on when Prime comes out.

I'll take you up on that
"I am not a robot. I am a unicorn."
You do realize they are the same company just a different division.
You do realise that is like saying I wont buy SWToR because EA produced warhammer ?

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
GW2 maybe.
SWTOR definite NO.

Good as we don't need people like you playing the game.
GW2 without a doubt.
I might play SWTOR with friends if they really like it which they seem to think they won't but I'll be damned if I;ll turn away from GW2.
both

and warhammer, lol,
EA: "LAUNCH NAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW"
Mythic: "But we still havent finished 6 of the main capital cities that consist of our endgame, and our endgame is not even done yet"
EA:"I SAID NAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW"
"I am not a robot. I am a unicorn."
lmfao too true

GW2 is a definite buy (not 100% sure, but about 90%). There are no subscription fees, so I can't do much wrong.
Not much interested in SWTOR. I dislike the art style.
Already have 2 copies of ToR ordered. No interest in guild wars
Planning? I already bought TOR.
