I am also interested in this as well. I was a long time WOW player and tried several MMOs, but am pretty burned out on them. There are a bunch of good games coming out in a few months and need a good temporary game to fill this 3 month time span.
Three questions for you both:
- Prefer PVP or PVE focus?
- Prefer triple A or indie?
- Prefer F2P or P2P or B2P?
Vanguard
MAGA
Also waiting for the old republic and need a non-cash shop game to tide me over. I've been playing nothing but RTS and that gets boring after awhile..
I'm not racist, I hate everyone equally.
Also with the suggestions, i said something to hold me for about 3 months (If u believe it will only hold for 2 months or 1" 1/2 months still give it a shot, just say how long u think it will last)
Could check this out if you want. http://dragonnest.nexon.net/guide/getting-started.
try apb reloaded, world of tanks, or pirates of the burning sea. All free and pretty good games to try, just dont buy anything. One of them should last a month if you havent tried them.
Own, Mine, Defend, Attack, 24/7

But wait for next week's patch before you jump in.
Have you played ,Fallout: New Vegas, and it's expacs,or some of the other single player games while you kill a little time? There are some good ones out there if you hunt and pick. Steam has some really cheap downloads too.
I may know the least here, but I am the loudest about what I do know.
Age of connan or LOTRO. I am playing lotro on Valyia right now and its quite fun. It will last u for a while and its not boring one bit.

Whenever I find myself between games, I check two places:
Good Old Games, and the daily Steam sales. I'm of an age where I remember playing a lot of the games on GOG, so the graphics don't bother me as much as they might a younger gamer. There are a lot of great games there, though, and all under $10.00. Particular favorites are Master of Magic (the best turn-based strategy game I've ever played, endless replay value), Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor (rpg), Baldur's Gate 2 (rpg), the Longest Journey (adventure), Fallout 1 & 2 (rpg), and Master of Orion 1 & 2 (strategy). Really, the list goes on for ages; you just have to be able to look past the graphics.
Playing APB, its just i need a calm game sometimes, cant do shooters 24/7, and dragons nest is just ehhh. Burning sea, i tried it once when it was P2P, i might check that out, keep going with the suggestions guys, many people are counting on this post for idea's
Number of games coming out next month. It's really personal preference just look around and play some demos and free games find what can tide you over.
I am also trying black prophecy, although not as a replacement for WoW, I still play that. I started a couple weeks ago, delayed a week because of the glytches, then started again because in that time two patches have came out which helped with some of the "New Game" Glytches. I don't get stuck on the loading screen when I click on a mission like I did the first time I tried it. So I think now would be a good time to start Black Prophecy.
Common people =D what else it out there pour it all in.
My quick suggestion would be Dragon Nest. If nothing else, it's harmless to give it a try as it's f2p and it's only about a 40 minute download. It's definitely a change of pace if you're used to WoW style MMOs. It's focus is entirely on dungeons, amusing story quests (that only involve venturing into more dungeons), and character progression.
The dungeons tend to be fast (10-15 minute clears) and intense and can be played on 5 different difficulties, the higher 2 of which offer legitimate challenges as solo and group experiences respectively. Combat is extremely fun, though I expect it may get redundant after a few months. It's got the typical MMO action bar, but every ability is a point and aim skill shot. There's no targetting characters, enemy or ally. The impact of your skills on the enemy is extremely satisfying, and the dungeons do tend to throw hordes of enemies at you. It becomes an aoe knockdown slaughterfest, but somehow manages to offer a challenge at the same time. Combat feels more like something from Soul Calibur IV and other action fighting games than from a WoW type MMO.
The story is simple but humorous. The characters are exaggerated and cartoony, but the silliness complements the aesthetic feel of the game, which is reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts. There is a main storyline, complete with numerous short cutscenes, in addition to several side quests. But you can ignore all that if you want and just fast forward to the action.
Character progression is fairly compelling in its own right. There are 4 archtype classes that eventually branch into 8 subclasses at level 15. At that point, you must start making serious choices about which skills you will learn and enhance. You acquire tons of loot on your dungeon runs and you can persistently upgrade your own gear. For each upgrade you acquire, you can enhance it in several ways via the game's equivalent of a "crafting" system. You can enhance each piece up to a +12 version of itself, but anything past +6 carries a danger of breaking the item completely. You can also play the auction house to sell upgrades you were lucky with or purchase gear that has already been enhanced to a high level.
The game certainly has its problems (weekly auction house limit (30 per character), poor LFG system, chat dominated by gold spammers), but that's why it's only a temporary solution and not the next big thing, right?
Personally, I'm eagerly waiting for GW2, but I'm glad I stumbled upon this game in the mean time
You might as well just play Vanguard then. It's a solid game that can fill your time, plus you can help out the population's resurgence a little bit. Every person helps.
I am currently playing STO.
And pretending I have a lightsaber.
Have a sense of humor, no need to get ALL MODDY ! A Simpson's quote shouldn't be worth a warning. You are lucky anyone is bothering to read this rag.
Also for everyone else, Iv already played DN, and Vanguard, both fails on my part, specially vanguard xDDD Keep it coming pleas =D
Lets keep this thread rolling, people are counting on this thread to give them some info.
Guildwars maybe? It is a CORPG so it isn't a open MMO but it have plenty of content, is well made, have no monthly fees and you can get the boxes cheap. Should keep you going for the next 3 months fine.
Besides that, the classic turned based strategy game "Heroes of might and magic 6" will release next month if you havn't found anything by then. While heroes is far from a RPG it is both fun and time consuming.
AoC is free now and also worth a try if you havn't already. It is rather small, particularly if you don't pay for the expansion and just play the free part but it should last you 2-3 months anyways.
Played AoC already, dont think i wana play it whens it f2p cuz of all the resitrictions, Guild wars, played that too. Im looking for more of a MMO so no heros of might. Keep the suggestions coming, and one of my suggestions would be Fallen earth, but it doesnt go F2P until Q4 and basicly by then swtor will be out
