The Chase for Dragon Motes, the event coming in with update 1.4, Legacy of the Fallen, now has some stellar lore up on the Official Rift Website to go with it. Check it out.
Greenscale and Akylios have been slain, their boundless elemental power scattered across Telara. Where this power pools, it congeals into Dragon Motes, which can be broken to harvest the very essence of Life and Water. Now Guardians and Defiant race House Aelfwar, the Abyssal, and each other to claim this magic and keep the dragons from being reborn. Daily quests, epic gear, and the exotic Mossy Tartagon mount await any who master the Dragon Motes.

Having a good time with this game.
Short sweet and to the point
This is by far the best update since launch. Having a lot of fun again, being it doing dungeons or pvp-ing, a lot of aspects improved and RIFT seems to have a bright future. I mean, the game is out since only a few months and we are already at update 1,4. Trion really is doing an amazing job on content updates and listening to player base. Not everyone will be happy right away, but I've already seen a few PvP lovers coming back for 1,4 and liking it.
