Why do people think this? As far as I know, these are just armors made by the Sylvari. If Sylvari wear chainmail or high-tech Asura armor it will look like chainmail or high-tech Asura armor, of course slightly changed to fit the Sylvari body type but still.

i was just curious. still.. i don't think a chain mail armor will fit on a Sylvari.  we will see at gamescom

What will the male sylvari names be like?

Cactus Jack? Woody Allen? Clint Eastwood?

Armour isn't limited by race. Town clothes might be, but armour isn't. You can grab that HoM heavy set and stick it on a sylvari as easily as it fits on the humans. Likewise, all dungeons have an armour set assiciated with them, as do the three orders and we've seen some sets fit both charr and humans and sylvari are closer to humans than charr xDD

"Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right. This very place is neutral ground! Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war becomes justice!"

    If yes..sounds Awsome!

That is not really something unique, EQ2 have different armor skins for all races even if some of them are very similar.

You don't expect a armor an asura wears and one a char wear will look the same even if it belongs to a certain dungeon set?

They do have some changes, but its all the same skin type.

With Sylvari, they might change apearence and skin.

I like it but I'm wondering how the skin color and hair color options will be. As long as we are not locked into green or brown I'm sold!

They seem to be really big fans of pointy out fits over there at ANet. It looks pretty nice though.

Am I already on the bandwagon? Because I'm having a warm and fuzzy feeling for ArenaNet right now.

    Welcome aboard.

Anyway, I was confused at first, I thought sylvari were simply elves. Now they are clearly plants. Or plant spirits.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

And here I thought ArenaNet couldn't amaze me anymore. INCREDIBLE redesign. I mean, they looked solid before but solid isn't enough apparently for ArenaNet. The Sylvari looks absolutely fantastic. I haven't seen anything like this before.

To everyone who was wondering, no not every armor will turn planty on sylvari.

This is a really nice addition to the game. I didn't think the original Sylvari were all that bad, just one race I woulda passed on. The new design is really impressive and not likely to be overlooked. Great job Kristen and Anet.

I'm pretty sure this only applies to starting armor or otherwise sylvari-exclusive (storyline, maybe?) armor, thus the reason it appears to grow out of the sylvari. It's the armor they're born with, but it can be easily (and painlessly :O) removed and replaced. Making it starter armor would also ensure that no other race is able to wear it.

While armor sets will certainly look different on different races, they should all still look like the same set. For example, I wouldn't expect this armor to look the same way on a human female and a charr female. I suspect it would probably use something closer to the male version for charr.

Obviously, this is all just my speculation, but changing steel to leaves doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

    EDIT:

I thought there were no race-restricted armor sets at all so that's news to me, thanks for quoting that.

My best guess is that the restricted sets are starter and story gear.

Of course an armour set will look different on the five races. Human will have one model, charr one and etc etc but it will still be the same theme.

Glad to see how the Sylvari turned out, was hoping for the worst but got the best.  Can't wait to make a Sylvari warrior now.

I just hope they don't restrict us from getting some of the coolest looking sets because we're all into planty crap, I want a sylvari that strays from their naturey birth and looks steam punky without having to be an engy, or spikey like some of the charr armor.

How do you think Sylvari do with fires?  Would lighting their hair/leafyness on fire pretty much gaurentee killing them if it's not put out in a short aount of time?  Would they burn instantly like a dried up leaf if they're bark-looking like with the winter body?

Would kind of bother me if they were, considering how much fire damage is gonna be in the game, even burning conditions.  I'm not talking about in-game racial stats though, just from a lore perspective.  :P

Wet wood doesn't actually burn that particularly well.  They're probably full of tree... liquids and stuff, like humans have blood.

... and humans are really flammable too, you know?  It's part of being organic, generally.

You could make a bonfire out of humans, but it's considered to be in poor taste.  You're just confused because people tend to use wood as the less gruesome campfire material. :T

That is... pretty badass. I've gotta say, great design work. I'm also very curious to see how armor of different classes will affect the look of the sylvari. I'm guessing they'll have thicker (maybe like an ironwood) barks for the more heavily armored classes, with more leaves / vines for the light / medium armored classes.

I may have to rethink my characters, and see how a Sylvari guardian might look, lol.

Not bad, certainly better than what they had originally.

I am pleased with the redesign. They look plant-like, and humanoid, actually the model of Caithe is more or less what I had pictured in my mind when reading the books.

Can't wait to make my Sylvari thief now!

Well some Sylvari are known to be family of the Nepeta plants (catnip). You really dont want to put them in the same room as a Charr :p
