Sick of most games out now & In need of a new MMORPG

GeschaeferGeschaefer Member Posts: 117

Hello all.

2 things here..

1) Either every game out is truly as easy as i think it is.. or

2) I have gaming A.D.D.

I cant seem to find a game that I can stick with.. I love MMORPG's but none of them hold my attention longer than 2 months.

I just keep flip flopping back and forth and resubbing to most games out there every 2 months and start new chars.

Im quite sick of doing this.. Anyone have any ideas?

Games that ive played include. Eq1, Eq2, WOW, SWG, Diablo2, Star trek online, Aion, WAR,  DDO, LOTRO, Fallen Earth, Vanguard,

The only game that ever truly held my attention was SWG; pre-combat upgrade.... that game was sick..

Every game since is just too easy.. i get so bored of the same junk over and over..

Im looking for a difficult; inteligent game, where bad players cannot make it to max lvl.

Im thinking EVE may be worth a try... but i dont know how im going to like having a "Ship" as my character.. im more into the player character (armor, spells, skills, lvls) kinda thing..

Any ideas... thanks all.

Im exactly the same way, currently I am only subbed to EvE online

I got into other types of games, single player, or online RTS and FPS games

I even went as far as playing Warhammer 40k table top (yes the classics are still fun)

Alot of trashy games out there now, i agree

Same deal; I play xbox single player's to pass the time.

I think I may give EVE a free trial run.

Is it too much to ask for a game that suits my needs?

I think my number 1 biggest complaint is how bad players can attain max lvl and gear in all games out today..

What pride can i have in a well developed character through my hard work and carefull play; when jackass kids can run their characters off cliffs; yet theyr the same lvl as I am with equal or better gear?

What's wrong with jumping off cliffs, it can be fun! Isnt that why we play video games? To have fun?

try entropia universe, it can be all the fun in the world if you have enough money to play it, just don't get addicted like i did and waste 2000 dollars over the course of 5 years

There are no mmo's where bad players can't make it to max level.

But I see you haven't tried FFXIV.  It's systems are more complex than your average WoW clone, more difficult to master in my opinion than EQ2, WoW, Aion, WAR, DDO, LOTRO, or Vanguard.

vanguard has more difficult mobs than eq2, wow or Lotro,  Eve is not that hard but you do have to do alot of reading to play and  you have to like space. Try AOC the mobs can be challenging, graphics are good and if you play melee combat is a bit more fun, however crafting is really bad and there is a major drop off of fun level from the starter area tortage to after level 20 and there is only one starting area a killer for me

Seems to me you should try DAoC, IF you are looking for good PvP. The PvE they have watered down a lot so pushing to lvl 50 isnt rough, which for me is great. i like PvE but only if it benefits me for PvP. right now im not playing any MMO's. only reason i de-subbed DAOC is the guild/alliance fell apart. but im sure as soon as i start craving that hectic, sitting on the edge of your seat tellin your group when to hit, i'll re-sub. DAOc has always had me coming back simply for the RvR. Nothing i've played is like it so.... if you like the PvP aspect as much as i do, it's worth a shot.

Same thing for me.. Right now Vanguard is still holding my attention. . Gods and Heroes is different enough to last a little bit.  Honestly I have been playing Terraria and getting my friends to buy it.  Only 4 players but man. . what a sandbox.  and addicting!

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

THe majority of MMORPG games are meant to be simple.  It isn't that satisfying to reach max level when anyone with enough time could accomplish the same thing.  On the other hand, it is a good time waster.   And playing a char for more than 2 months to max level does show some discipline rather than just deleting chars over and over and never hitting max level.

Usually the tougher parts of the game are at higher levels.

The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.

the problem with the online game genre is that is fallen victim to its own success. Before the great online gaming boom, online games where about carving out niche markets where small time developers would be happy to get a few thousand people.

There are still games out there, however they are less attractive due to the standards and quality we are now familiar with thanks to games like World of Warcraft.

Even the great EvE online is falling victim to this mass marketing drive causing the game to focus more on casual, bland dribble the likes of which anyone can acomplish because the bar is being set so low. Greed is the driving factor, simply put we the "original gaming community at large" are outnumbered by the casual gaming market sector, the result is games are now developed for the sector which will pull in the most income.

Personally, I'm setting my standards much... much lower than I would previously to just find a game myself and my small group can find entertaining for more than a day or two. Still without hype, publicity and gamers spreading these niche games like they used to a lot of great games are being wasted and are failing to draw the required numbers needed to sustain themselves.

    BOTTOM LINE:

Until such a time as the gaming community at large rejects the dribble being pumped at us by large companies only intrested in generating money we are stuck with the same generic crap being regergetated over and over with a new skinpack and theme.

Star Wars The Old Republic is an example of what I'm talking about, I'm a massive Starwars fan and I like bioware and lucus arts however this title disapoints me. I started out with such high hopes for this franchise yet unfortunatly its just another attempt to cash in on blizzards succress by EA, nothing more nothing less.

Its WoW with voice acting, even down to the healing classes! come on healers in Star Wars? Pray tell how they bastardized the franchise to incorperate that little nugget of shit into the game? SMUGGLERS HEALING WITH DROIDS! /ragequit.

Dispite this, millions will sign up, one more step closer to the generic sterilization of internet gaming...

/rant over, where are my cookies and milk?
