Either way, I am still going to play this game.It looks awesome, and like the other guy said these things happen all the time.Let's just hope DnL doesn't get canned...I already had to go trough the pain of TFLO and UO:X Odessey.

hehe that gave me beta flashbacks. you would want to shoot yourself there.
This is OLD news, and wasn't even big news when it was new news
Strouse is always trying to put DnL down. Right from the beginning. I remember he was the same for Wish. Just some fanboi stirring shit because he feels his favourite game is threatened.

This is almost as old as the news that the USA stole the design of the Combine Harvester from 2 Australian guys at the end of the depression then basically bult their agricultural economy on it.... after which they go ahead and bust on the rest of the world for copyright... like its the sole claim of the USA........

MS did not cancel Mythica because of the lawsuit. They pulled out of the MMORPG market. That's why they sold off Asheron's Call back to the developers. It seems to have been an overall wise move on their part in both cases.
LOL MS didn't get out of the industry they're making Vanguard. They dumped AC because it's not a very profitable title. It's under 40,000 subscribers which means it's very close to starting to lose money (if it isn't already). Frankly I never understood why anyone played it... had a lot of great ideas but the game was highly anti-social the way the heirarchy system was set up and the lack of ability to easily chat with other players.
And AC2 is under 20k subscribers... which really bodes ill for that title.

Im afraid to say that MS is not the developer for vanguard, as is stated on the FAQ on the oficial vanguard site, MS is the publisher, mainly that means, that MS is the one that will distribute the game and is somewhat funding it. More so, MS has zero control on the game design.
While i'd like to think that gamers did look at the ethics of the people behind the games i'm not so sure that all gamers do. I cant help but wonder if Horizons had followed through with their promises - would it be a bigger game? Horizons as many people know is really making a push to attract more of a player base and they are having limited success. Since the game is basically a stolen product this means that some gamers really dont care about ethics. Legally ofcourse David Bowman didnt "steal" the game he just snuck around behind the creators back and eventually used the creators naivity against him to get him booted out the door. Legality and morality are 2 different things though.
DnL being made by a french company will probably have no issues in legaly pushing forward. French law favors french businesses whether they are ethically correct or not. DnL has bigger issues atm though. I think the more important question is - Will DnL function as intended? Lets face it they're really trying to raise the bar and you have to give them props for that. Personally i think while they have the best of intentions for us gamers they're really pushing far ahead of what technology will currently provide for. I really hope DnL is released and lives up to its hype because a game like that would be amazing. I also hope that the makers get sued and if they're found to have stolen portions of code that the creators of that code are compensated adequately.

If this happens to be true, there's no way I'll play the game now. That is just wrong!

I must say that i have a real problem with Strouse's thread title.
The facts are very unclear at best. He cannot say whether or not the devs stole the software. No-one can because we simply don't know the facts.
To me, this seems like yet another malicious attempt to put a game down before its released.
These types of threads should be moderated better.

Just wanted to clarify that.

Make a difference!
I am tied between playing a High Elf, Dark Elf, Wood Elf, or Half Elf.
Just kidding I hate games that say they have many races to choose from and it turns out they have 15 versions of an elf.
