Honestly, some of you people should try to read some more to expand on your vocabulary a bit. "WoW" everything is not a good way to go about describing things. In the real world, being able to get your thoughts and expressions across will get you far.
Don't you all know way back in the dark ages before WoW everything was in black and white.. even the human eye couldn't see colors. Then came the almighty blizzard, which covered the world with colors of the likes that man has never seen.. The messiah known as WoW took all of us whom were color blind and made us see colors..
Im more into the dark sinister horror type games like the secret world thats coming out since Im a huge horror fan. This kinda makes me head swivel on end although I could tough it out. As they say there is no gain without pain. It does look beatifull though and fun and exciting, another fanatasy mmo. If it wasnt theme park Id be all over this. Either way It probualy be another definitely buy for me. The gameplay and ideas behind it look amazing!
When I first saw the trailer for Wildstar I did a leap followed by a pirouette and a hi-five. I love Firefly and this was Firefly. I did think that maybe this was just a trailer and it was designed to draw people in, but I thought to hell with it. This was Firefly. I signed up to apply to beta test and I was ready for this game. It was going to be my game.
Okay, so maybe it's not Firefly, but we're not going to get a Firefly MMO any time soon and this game has that feel...if the trailer is anything to go by.
I've calmed down a bit since. I've seen some videos on YouTube and then I saw this thread. Now the first thing I saw on YouTube was quests. I hate quests, or I hate a quest-centric game to be more precise. This thread has given me some hope because it mentions new ideas and new ways to quest. Maybe they can improve the nature of the quest grind, but I'm still in doubt.
Wildstar is on my radar, but I'll forever be concerned that it's just a quester. Maybe there's no escpaing the quest, and it is something I'll have to live with, in which case I suspect I'll be giving Wildstar a go.
I saw the words "Sticking to traditional mmo combat mechanics" and said goodbye. That sparked a bit of puke in my mouth. We are getting the same lunch box with a turd sandwich inside of it. This time its got sprinkles and seasoning. the smell isn't soo bad since its wrapped in a shinny plastic wrap. We also might get a cup of piss to drink as well. I dunno how many people on here eat turd sandwiches, but I guess anyone who plays this game will enjoy their brown teeth shining through this lame excuse of a money sink. To be frank, I don't even want to go over how stupid it was to keep the SAME core mechanics that make other mmo's stale. Yeah, you innovated other parts of the game to make it seem like you did something different. Congratualtions, and keep an awesome job of providing those special "lunchboxes" for kids at lunch time.
I struggle not with life, money, emotions, and world, but against old mindsets and selves to be proven obsolete in a age and time of rapid changes. Go create fun, so you can have fun.
The collourfull theme, cartoon styles , just like the oversized weapon/armor styles where there long long before WoW, WoW is just better known for it. Whats next? people are going to start saying Tolkien ripped off Sauron from WoW too?
Bottom line is the game DOES look amasing, granted the o so few screenshots and game play vid's are making it harder to truely judge but it definately does look they went out of their way to make the game look fun and pretty.
Not to mention they are taking their product serious enough to make an actual quality (for the lack of better word of it) anouncement trailer. But yes, who knows, it will be hard to say how good or bad this game may turn out to be.
All I do know is the market does need something like this.
Still Alpha preview but I liked it. Is it just me or does it look like NCSoft is stealing a march on other developers? Their backing indies (Arenanet, Carbine) and working on their own stuff. Pretty sharp, maybe we'll get out from under the crappy US business model.
devs gtfo with cartoon graphics. And wow colors. Its funny that games 10 years ago had nicer colors.
What the hell is WOW colors?
Funny, after looking at the screenshots then logging into a couple of different MMO's including WoW I know exactly what he means. I guess some people dont pick up on the nuances of games.
I play allot of different MMO's and I can tell immediately what games have similar color saturations, lighting effects and art styles and I do mentally classify games like this when I see screens and watch videos of games.
I dont know maybe learn to be a bit more observant.
If the trailer is any indication of the over all feel of the game, I am there. LOL! The trailer was awesome. I love a game with a sense of humor. I just read that this game is made by gamers who actually have worked on some pretty big game titles in the past. If they play their cards right and make this game fun to play, give us lots of character custimization options, and cool looking space ships like the one in the trailer - with lots of planets to explore, and keep it lighthearted and funny...I am there!
I just wish the game would have the type of graphics we saw in the trailer. Someday soon though...we'll have that level of graphics. Until then, I can deal with what they have as long as the game is fun to play.
OMG it is time to learn more about this game!
Somebody give this girl the high space adventure she's been campaigning for, she's earned it!
Though, sadly, Teala, I don't think this is it. From what I've gathered off of the developers' presentations and interviews, I think the game world is just that one planet, so it looks like we won't get to hop on our spaceships and go to other worlds.
Though I wish we could - or I've got this wrong and somehow we still can... Really, how come we've had this many MMOs without a proper, good old space opera? Bah.

Are we talking WoW expressions here?

You destroyed any interest I had right there. It's been TWELVE YEARS since this kind of quest came out, and we're STILL getting them in new games.

The trailer looks great. Signed up for beta.
Heavens I was eating I must remember not to read the forums while eating. That description of the sandwich made me lose my apetite.

ya thats because wildstar central is a fan site, although the devs frequent it often and communicate there
