ok forget what i wrote. I dont think it is they dont want gays or lesbians. I think it has more to do with fact the only romance u can have is with companions and they just didnt add that.
They have stated it may come later after launch but obviously they havent had any complaints from testers.
Look go roleplay a gay relationship wiht a fellow player if u want they wont stop u. They just didnt add it to game
It doesnt mean they dont want u it just means that they didnt realize it would be a big deal. I guess they forgot what a liberal , non offensive political correct society we live in and anyone will take offense at any percieved slight.
Look this isnt anti gay or anything it was just something they didnt think about im sure. They have never stated they dont want u they just dont have the option to romance your companions of the same sex i dont really see the issue but then again we do live in a society where a guy makes a joke and a white person is offended and they are fired for somethign percieved to be offensive when african americans and asians or whoever was suposedly offended say it was funny.
So u never know in this world what offends. To me some people need to take a chlll pill and relax. As they havent ruled out gay relationships with companions in the futre just not there for launch.
When u make a game this big somethings get left out it happens. Keep in mnd that bioware is the only company i know does compnions and choice like this in an mmo and they probably just overlooked it.
lets face it name one mmo u can actually have a choce to have a gay relationship with a companion wait u cant duh. thats because the only game with this option for romance with compaions will be tor and even then its only certain classes and will only show up if u have made the right choices to start with.
Its not like everyone will get to romance there companions cause one choice the wrong way can take that option away anyways. /so i really dont see the fuss.

I strongly doubt Bioware did this on their own. Its Lucas Arts we talk about here, man.
They also removed Juhanis romance from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Which apparently was great.
Or: they killed SWG with NGE. Everyone is blaming SOE for that one, but it was really Lucas Arts. SWG wasnt successful enough in their eyes, so they went forward and screwed it up completely.

Not that I would want to keep anyone from trying SW:TOR. After all, its also a Bioware game. But I'm not feeling completely with the future of this MMO. There are TWO companies known for idiotic actions watching over it.
I like how when you've experienced priviledge all your life you are incapable of empathy for groups who don't get the respect and priveledges that you've always had.
Try to understand: There are marginalized people in this world. They don't get the same respect or consideration or even the same rights as you do. Sometimes they have to hide who they are for fear of reprisal.
It is a legitimate complaint to make, and it is sad to see you marginalize it with hyperbolic claims and outright dismissals.

well yes it is in a game. Sorry its a game and they are companion characters they arent real shh dont tell anyone.
They arent saying u cant have same sex relationships in life or they wont add it after lauch its just not there at launch.
So maybe there companion characters arent gay. Or maybe they just didnt think itd be a big deal.
IN a game romancing an opposite sex, same sex, droid, signs, or whatnot is the same thing this isnt real life.
Not having that option doesnt make it that they dont want u or find yoru lifestyle offensive its just not in game at this time.
simple really relax chill and hope they add it at a later date.
Im just saying that the chances u can romance a character are probably not great to start with when u factor in u have to have a certain loyalty of that companion coupled with choices in the story so even if u play a romanceable companion class u might not get optioon due to choices u make.
Plus they have said they will look into adding after launch just not at launch.
I dont even know if females can romance there male companions or if the companions with romance option are all female if so this means getting upset about it makes even less sense.l

Some people struggle to be accepted for who they are every single day, and when main stream games make decisions to shut them out it's a little offensive. Yeah it's not real life but it's easy to say that it doesn't matter to you. I actually don't plan on playing it, I was tempted but I'm not that into star wars or sci fi so I'm going to probably pass. Also, I'm straight, I just don't like intolerance.
I dont know, but Im pretty sure the Bioware devs are slamming their heads into their desks repeatedly for ever having done it in the first place at this point. This is what they get. They put it in a few of their games and this is what they get when they decide to (God forbid), make a game that doesnt have homosexuality in it.
BIOWARE MEMO: No game is to EVER have same sex relationships in it ever again. Whoever so much as mentions the possibility of it in meetings is to be taken out back and repeatedly flogged. We've opened a can of worms here. What have we done????

Also, I already demolished that dumb film argument a while back. According to you we shouldn't complain about bad controls for a video game because we don't get bad conmtrols for films. They're different mediums, you can't compare them in this way.

Its just weird because they've done it once, and now Bioware (dont care which studio it is) is now required to include same sex relationships in every game they make that has romance in it. I dont think thats right.
I still dont understand why people cant choose a female toon, make her look like a guy, and give her a male name and have their same sex relationship. Why is that so damn hard? Why?

A movie where 95% of all humans are gay and a straight couple has difficulties the same as the gay cowboys in the straight world. I agree. That would be a very enlightening movie.

Elikal, with all respect, as a fellow queer gamer, you're up in arms about a no scripted Same Sex romance with NPC's.
Millions of players in the game many of them as bent as you are me. Billions of people in the real world, actual flesh and blood people, 1-10% of them as queer as you or me, and you're fixated on the fact that npc's that are so many scripted voice lines, graphical assets and AI are depicted as hetero/cisgendered only?
Again, I'm in the same boat as you, and I find that mindbogglingly silly. You want same-gender romance? There's always RP.
Pretty sure Bioware Edmonton will do whatever the hell they want regardless of what people say. It's a reasonable request to make to ask for same-sex relationships in a game from a studio known for including that type of thing, and if they have GOOD reason to refuse, then that is reasonable too. YOU are the one who thinks it ISN'T a reasonable request.
And you can't see how it simply isn't the same thing to choose a female character (get out of here with that "toon" shit, this isn't WoW.) How do you feel when the dialogue refers to your character as the wrong gender when there is a bug? Imagine feeling that way ALL THE TIME.
