After Black Opal asking to defend MO on MMORPG.com...

raff01raff01 Member Posts: 453

...the community is now asking NOT to defend MO on these forums...simply hilarious, I love how these guys just keep throwing how worthless mmorpg.com is and that they don't even waste their time there, but yet, keep coming back and we keep getting their attention...

Just pathetic. The fact they seem to miss is if MO was really good, nothing people would post here would matter. Hell, if WoW population would be affected by negative posts on MMORPG.com, WoW would have 3 subscribers by now...

I read the forums here in the MO section but seldom post.

It's sort of sad to see what should be an outstanding game with huge population go through the troubles they have.

On the other hand, it does make for some entertaining reading :-)

fanboys missed the memo: any press is good press.

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

    Wow this is funny.

The person that posted it on MO forums has never posted in there customer forums and thus it looks like a troll thread.

He has posted 17 time joined on april this year and never posted out of the public forums.

SV dont defend their own game, they dont have the time so a few of us do.

This thread is retarded and a waste of space.

its highly likely thats because he is infact one of the people who post quite regularly in the mo section of mmorpg.com and who is rather disgruntled with the game and decided to make a troll thread on the offical forums.

Still though i started posting on mmorpg.com because i wanted to. Originally to comment on darkfall i beleive however when i visited the mo section i quickly realised how many lies misinformation and half-truths were being spread about the game.

The op of that thread who asking people not to defend the game on mmorpg.com was banned on mo forums for trolling and directing hate towards people within the mortal online community.

"i dont see any harm in posting on other public forums if you like the game, MO forum on mmorpg.com is quite possibly one of the most active game forums all because of the back and forth arguments meaning people get to here (HEAR)about mo, sure theres bad press on there but with a free trial people get curious."  (QUOTE TAKEN FROM THE OPs LINK)

Looks like someone sees mmorpg.com as a way to market the game?

Yes, if your product is unknown and you want to spread the word. However, if your product is already known for being crap, and there's more press about it being crap, well. XD

  • deathshrouddeathshroud Member Posts: 1,366

i see it as a place to talk about the game, people here see it as a way to destroy the game but in turn it constantly letting people know about MO and the opinions of 5-6 people constantly making the same sort of posts over and over does not suggest to anyone with any common sense that the game is how they state it to be. They are simply haters nothing more.

with a free trial available its easy to get a little bit of a taste of mo.

Nothing wrong with that. Besides, people can make up their own minds by playing the free trial...

It sure is, and once you get ingame you find that the "haters" were not too far off the mark.

I started a free trial on Aug 15th, I played for a week, and that was more than I could stomach. I gave the game a very fair shot but right from the start you are effected by bugs that make the overall experience frustrating (such as timing out during character creation, even though I only spent one minute creating the character, and then wasting time while I try and figure out why the buttons to finalize my character are not doing anything - to make matters worse, there is no error message or any indicator that something has gone wrong, you just fumble around in frustration until you decide to try again).

Ingame I watched players stutter around, as if they were out of sync with the server.

I went out to find some wildlife to kill, and the first animal I found turned on it's warp engines and jumped into hyperspace.

I watched one player float/walk across the sky, until he was out of sight.

I tried taming, but when I attempted to sic my animal at a target he attacked me instead. This was exceptionally annoying.

Client crashed to desktop quite often, probably 2-3 times per gaming session, which averaged roughly 3-4 hours length per session. Nearly one crash per hour of play.

The whole debacle was quite possibly the most frustrating gaming experience I have ever had. I posted a thread on the official forums the day I signed up, in that very thread these were two of the responses I received:

"You're in for a rough ride, be prepared for crashes, bugs, exploits and so on.

WELCOME and have fun" - Realnaste

A user named SpillyPhil then tried to chatise the poster of that remark:

"There I fixed that for you. You feel that you need to post shit like that in new player threads? If you don't like the game don't play it, but don't be a fucking troll."

Then a separate user verified the validity of the initial comment:

"It's not really trolling, its a fair warning so that he may be prepared." - Firebatt

    Then along came this gem:

"You will enjoy it! Hope your a masochist like us"

So in order to enjoy this game you have to be a self admitted masochist? That doesn't inspire confidence. Yes, I realize that the user was being facetious, but the fact that those types of comments above are being made says alot about the state of the game when it is active players that are the ones making these comments.

I started in Meduli, which apparently is the most populated starting area, and maybe saw a grand total of ten or fifteen different players during my stay.

It was quite possibly one of the most frustrating, uninspired, and cobbled together gaming experiences I have ever had. My time would have been better spent attempting to give myself a cerebral hematoma by way of blunt force trauma, and I guarantee it would have been more entertaining.

Not true, henrik had for a hobby to argue about how awesome everything in MO was in every slightly negative thread until some community manager put a leash on him.

  • deathshrouddeathshroud Member Posts: 1,366

well even their communtiy manager doesnt post on here due to being busy, since then i guess alot has changed. However most of you seem to think it hasnt.

there is no way of you knowning for certain he does post on here. So stop quoting and changing posts making them falsly quoted posts trying to mislead people.

There is no way of knowing the opposite either.

But given his stance on encouraging people to go and basically fight with the MMORPG users to defend MO, the odds are pretty high that he's already started that undertaking.

I think that this is an apt review, and the simple point of it is that most of us here have been saying this all along. We encourage people to try out the trial and get a feel for it themselves, it's just the inane banter that people put up with saying "No, that desync never happens! That invisible bug was fixed forever ago! No, the population is HUGE! There's lots to do!" and other things that have no basis in reality other than fanboys repeating it over and over.

The nice thing is, that your review plainly points out that despite what fanboys claim, the facts are not on their side. That is all we have been saying all along, and the only reason we continue to say it is because SV is an unethical immoral and criminal company that double bills people and steals money from unsuspecting people in order to sustain their development just a little longer. It's pathetic that people defend them at all, but thankfully MMORPG is here for us to have a neutral forum to discuss this game, because the official boards are never going to allow any honest conversation.

  • PicklebeastPicklebeast Member Posts: 273

    -I agree herc.

I also wanted to add my 2 cents. I think that honestly black opal does a great job for what he has to work with- it would be really difficult to be the CM of a game in MO's state. I am not hating on Black Opal for attempting to do his job, especially when his job is so difficult. If I were paid to defend this game and attempt to keep the forums looking nice for potential investers, I would have given up a long time ago.
