I heard possibly October, but it's just a rumor I think.

I am a little eager to give the game another go, I had a lot of fun with CoH back at release.

I've asked several people in game, none of them knows a definite date, most just says the most common word used by devs; "soon(tm)". :)

I suspect "soon" was intended to be sometime this month.  But, according to the Zwillinger (community rep).....

"I completely understand wanting "more" at PAX. The reality is that we had planned to announce "more", including an actual date for headstart. As often occurs in game development, "things happened" and we were not able to announce. It's far better to refrain from committing to a date and avoid having to publicly push it out, especially when there's a lot of moving parts involved. As Posi said at the panel though, the VIP Headstart is coming soon.

    Very Soon™. "

There is no scheduled release date set for Issue 21. However, if previous release schedules are an indicator, it should be live by approximately the end of fall 2011.

Starting with Issue 21, City of Heroes will be known as City of Heroes Freedom and change from a Pay-to-Play system to a hybrid system. Current City of Heroes will continue as VIP Players, and may accrue 400 Paragon Points per month starting on their first billing cycle after July 1, 2011. At the launch of City of Heroes Freedom, you will be able to use Paragon Points to purchase new costumes, Power Sets, and hundreds of new items from the in-game Paragon Market. The new Paragon Rewards program also rewards all levels of loyal players with new bonus content that you select, including exclusive rewards for VIP players.

VIP headstart is now slated for Tuesday.....  It's going to be a name-rush (think gold-rush, but for names you've "desperately" wanted or intend to retain "ownership" of  ; ' )  on Exalted, the new VIP-only server.

They are opening a new server for VIP players only?  I didn't know that!

This should be very interesting.  I hope my copy of the game arrives tomorrow...it has been almost three weeks now, but I will not have much time but I know one thing, I will have crappy internet connectivity because Im in Afghanistan...the most F'ed up place I have been so far (makes Haiti look like a paradise, which it actually is....)

I just hope to see Dark Assault for Controllers and Dominators some day soon.

Yep, VIP servers are optional though. Personally I wont be playing on them even though i'll be subscribing, one of the biggest problems with CoH in recent years is lack of population and an elitest attitude by many vets ie only grouping with others who have played for years.
