Any MMOs similar to Galactic Civilizations II?

Pretty much summed up in the subject.

It can even be a browser-based game. I really enjoy GalCiv, but I think I'd enjoy it more in a more lively environment, with other players around.

Tons of Travian clones out there if you're looking for strategy.  Some (like the linked one) are space-themed.

I'm sort of a sucker for them.  I keep trying them, even though I enter into each one knowing that someone with more free time will beat me simply because they can monitor their empire 24/7.  Inevitably some bigger fish comes along, eats my empire for dinner, and I quit that game in disgust (until the next big Travian clone gets released and suckers me in all over again.)

There was also a 1-turn-a-day web strategy title that was popular this last year.  A little more like GalCiv (due to being strictly turn-based) but I don't think I liked it as much as Astro Empires.

Astro Wars is another (much older) web strategy game, but (if memory serves) Astro Empires was considerably better.

Hmm... I think I remember checking out Astro Empires... I played for about a week, and then just sorta forgot I had the game running lol.

Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll have to keep looking around.

Galaxy Online 2 there is alot going on you have to be on your guard and remember to pop up truce cards till you are strong enough, you can also move your planet to a random spot in space or choose where to put it.

There was an amazing tick-based one a few years ago, Imperial something, that was really similar to GC2 (if I remember GC2 properly) but it shut down for some reason and I've been looking for something similar to it since.

hopefully End of nations is a sign that more mmorts's are on their way, a galciv/homeworld mmo would be fantastic, but the closest to it would be the multiplayer of games like total war shogan 2 for now. if it doesnt have to be in space then try stronghold kingdoms, but it is perpetual defence, so prepare to lose sleep.
