Quite simply one of the best fantasy games ever made.
The thing holding them back would be their lack of vision. Crypitc, in their pursuit of the new Neverwinter title, would be wise to follow the NWN example. Even to take some notes from the Higher Ground: Path of Ascension developers.
Hands down... SHADOWBANE! My goddess people, in 2003 it used 90s graphics but had the most diverse builds and balanced PvP in an open sandbox world. With updated graphics and modern server architecture Shadowbane would outclass all other hardcore PvP out there... NOT suited to Whiners, Wannabees, or Carebears.

Shadowbane is kind of like EVE. You have to be in some nerdy guild to accomplish anything.
I see a huge percentage choosing SWG & UO, pity developers cant see past their ignorance,
i hear so many people on these forums looking for a new sandbox or just an mmo with some
bloody innovation! ...instead of the liner themepark cut & paste crap, so many people yet theres
no developers cashing in on this how sad for us
Sorry to hi-jack the thread... carry on
But pretty graphics are more important than sandbox features, apparently.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
That was a myth... So many crews to join, most of us had a toon in several guilds, and yes some were moles... Drop a rock, crash a bane, mine fights, ninja claims... You could mess with anyone even solo. It took nothing to level up a toon either, at least after xp was sped up in 2005

I see where you're coming from but keep in mind it might not be just the draw of redone graphics, I'd assume a new server with a fresh start etc - quite a draw in itself. Is partly why I voted for EQ/DAoC.

Sure, everyone has their own reasons.
It's just difficult to justify the rhetoric about how essential those sandbox elements are, when games that have those elements are still running, and are not played because of "outdated graphics".
The herd moved on, certainly; but if all of the sandbox fans gathered their resolve and moved back to UO, for instance--they'd get the gameplay they love, while voting for more new games like it from the company that made it. A big infusion of cash is a lot of incentive to start on a new MMO project--especially from games that have been fading slowly into the MMO sunset for a long time.
Certainly a more effective vote with your dollars than coming to the forums and griping about how no good sandboxes exist.

Anarchy Online. Because the world needs a really good ground based MMO. When I played AO, I loved the sheer massive scale of it and the fact that you could use items way beyond your level. If they would redo this, I would love to get back on my Martial Artist.
It doesn't matter because odds are you're not going to get it.
The fate of EQ2 coupled with the almost universal fading subscription base of older MMOs *as well as the disunity of the fanbase in forum threads like this one* fairly screams a warning to developers (and investors) that nostalgia isn't enough to guarantee success in the MMO market.
Planeside 2 might be an exception because the argument can be made that the original was a game before its time, and was badly handled upon release. It also has effectively zero competition from any other MMO game currently out there.
For me, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Of course that's assuming that along with the graphics update that the game would be actually ready for launch.

Properly upgraded graphics in City of Heroes, not this... thing.
DAOC would be a good second choice: graphics AND IU.
And of course, Anarchy Online... one day... maybe... sure...
Anarchy Online.
UO ..........................!

Everquest (pre-luclin) and AO best games ever. !!!!
Pre-CU SWG, then AO.
I've never felt more intune, immersed, and thoroughly in love with a game than I did SWG. If a time machine is ever made, I will stop the CU.

That would be Everquest.
Anarchy Online
Followed closely by EQ1 and CoH/V.

WoW Pre-TBC, glad I got www.wow-one.com though
Gotta go with Everquest pre Luclin. SWG pre CU is another. SOE had some fantastic games at one point.

That game yes. We're still waiting for the next one...

Edit: added the line enclosed in * *.
you can have pretty game and none will like it. depends on game play :P if its pretty and it sucks could be problem. So grachics dont matter
