Black Prophecy: Community Letter Addresses Concerns

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Gamigo's Patrick Streppel has released the second Community Letter with Streppel acknowledging several key player concerns with Black Prophecy. In addition, Streppel discusses the upcoming North American expansion and lays the groundwork for future development.

  • Game Client Stability: Streppel acknowleged players' concerns about the overall stability of the game client and indicates that the software responsible for loading several key components of the HUD has been reworked and streamlined.

  • More Intensive Testing: The Black Prophecy team will be "investing more time" in testing future updates to ensure the most stable releases are made available to players.

  • Key System Overhauls: According to Steppel, "the clan system, story missions, dynamic missions and much more" will be looked at closely to find ways to improve and optimize the systems.

  • Item Shop: Prices and items in the in-game store are being given a hard look based on player feedback.

  • The Future: Steppel outlines several areas that the team is working on for future deployment including docking procedures, new warzones, PvP battlezones and more.

A better in game tutorial would be nice for new players, the existing one is... horrible / non existant.

agreed, the first time new player will be lost completly in the *cough* tutorial..   Frankly I stopped playing the moment I was done the tutorial. and well maybe a mission or two.. the game just was not, is not ready..

I like to see indie companies succeed, but they also need to put out a playable product.  This is one of those games that needs a lot of work.  Hopefully they will get the fixes in that are needed.

I played and got stuck in a cut scene, I started a new character and it happened to that character as well.

I waited a few weeks until there was a patch and it seemed to help. I Like the premise of the game and if they continue to improve it I will keep checking in and playing missions.

the lack of a proper tutorial is what confused most of the players, I also wish they fixed the translations to what the speech said.

This game had serious promise.   ...still might, if they work quickly enough.

The interface was fine,  the controls were perfect, and the game itself was pure eyecandy.  ...but it quickly ran out of filling.  For me, at least.

It just felt.. empty.   'instanced' missions just gave an unsatisfying illusion of space and distance,  and there were just too few of them to go around.

The game leaned very heavily on 'team' play,  leaving the solo guys such as myself with nothing to do, and nearly impossible missions that forced you to hook up with someone else if you wanted to survive.

Also, worst of all..  looting was a pain in the ass.

Give me more solo missions to chew on,  and a wide area of space to mess around with and travel through between missions.. and I might come back.

    ...and this game 'might' survive.

I was in Beta and had a few positives and a few negatives.

Wont list them all but the major negatives where that stuttering of the engine, i can play Eve and all other games on max settings with 50 to 60 fps.

BP 20 / 30 but the stuttering remained even on low settings.

Positves: jumped in pvp the second i was done with the Tuturial.

And it was fun, but the pve missions need major work.

It got massive potantial tough :)

Might pick it up if they improve some more stuff, bored of Eve again ^^
