I saw a thread asking about the state of the game and people were looking for some videos of real PvP in the game (not 1v1 practice duels) So i've come to shed some light on how the game is going.
I first want to say I'm not in any way a fan boy even though I've played the game since launch. It's come a long way since then but still has a ways to go. The main issues at the moment are optimization of texture loading (still), releasing some of the core features promised at launch like vehicles which should come in the next patch, and balancing out a few imbalances and bugs in the combat system, although combat is almost where it should be. They also need to openly announce the free trial and advertise it, but the trial is available to anybody now at http://www.play-earthrise.com/game/public/trial-register
Territory warfare was launched a few months back so there's finally an end game and constant pvp when the timers work. Here's a picture of a fully built base with turrets and power plants. You can also build the best crafting stations and resource mines on the bases, so they're very lucrative to fight over.
And here's a quick PvP video I threw together of a 1v2 fight, which happened in the Blasted Region zone. It shows how skill can beat uneven odds in this game.
**DISCLAIMER** I am running on a horrible PC, the performance is a lot better than seen in the video if you have a decent computer. Having a solid state drive or running a ram drive makes performance perfect, but I have neither (plus I have a garbage graphics card). The intro is on almost max graphics, but the rest is the lowest graphics setting.

Comments regarding the game; The developers have said that they'll be prioritizing polishes and fixes the comming months. I feel the game is quite solid at its core but it evidently needs more tweaking. The new player experience is currently leaving a lot to be desired. I actually would suggest that people interested in the game should wait until the issues have been resolved. Unless you've got guidance from a veteran player the new player experience is virtually undoable, because of bugs and other various reasons.
But fret not, as I said the developers have acknowledged this and they're working on it.
And yeah, in ER, as opposed to other sandbox games, say Darkfall. You're able to become pvp viable very fast. After one week of playing I managed to beat a veteran player of 7 months in duels. So skill matters, not eternal grinding
Thanks Knar for the update, I've been sitting on a purchased from a d2d sale for a while now, probably active it in the next few days, game is looking promising now.
