Hey.
I checked the official forum for announcements and noticed a new one up telling folks that their old inactive accounts were being slowly turned on to active status over the weekend.

I fired up my account as I bothered to download and patch the client a few days ago, and lo and behold, my old accounts were active once more. As of right now, of my typing this.
See you folks in game. I would imagine that if you never had an account for City of Heroes, Monday or Tuesday (Monday probably) will be your target date to start playing.

Just looked and my account is playable guess I will go have a look and see if it's worth or a waste of my time.
Awesome. If this is similar to LOTRO's free to play model, I'll have another game to go back and play now. The story arc missions alone are worth playing through at least once. Now with more people it should be much easier to get together and knock them out.

Not letting me in. Do I need the official client or the beta client?
It's random waves of activations. One of my alt accounts can get in but my main one can't.
edit: Official client should work.
They seem to have some bugs to fix as my alt account also says Free when it should be Premium, and can make characters on the VIP-subscriber only server for some reason (lol)
Remember, it has to be fun to be a game. Grinding is a bedroom activity, and the point is definitely not to do my wife as fast as possible.
My account says free and playable.
Upon hitting login it says "Payment for this account has expired. Would you like to view this accounts status page?"
Just sent a ticket to see why it's not letting me on.
Okay, I'm impressed. I've been away from the game ever since Enhancement Diversity, so there's a LOT of additions to the game since I've played. I think I killed like, 90 minutes on the character creation screen alone. SOOO many things added, from animated tails to altering the particle colors of your powers.
I also checked to see that I had 5 global character slots unlocked, and I had 15 out of a possible 18 paragon reward tokens pre spent in things I had before as well as stuff I didn't have before just given to me by default. Spending one of those 3 tokens gave me yet another Respec account wide thing, so bonus.
I'm impressed. Yeah, I put in over a year of paid playtime on the game before on my account, but NC Soft has given me a LOT of crap to play around with for free with this. I'm depressed that it costs cash to use Invention Enhancements, but I can see how it's a needed thing for them to make money off of players.
Overall... Hell. I think this blows away any free to play MMO (for me and my situation) on the market currently.
As soon as I read the news about 2 hours ago I went to log on and was able to get in.
Got in but the character I opened up with, all the IOs are gray. You have to get an invention system license or something for them to work.

My account is saying the same thing. I was an ex-subscriber way back in the day, heard about this going on and thought I'd fire up my account and see if I could play. I try to log in, get the same as above, can't get any further. The announcement states that if you can't get in yet, keep trying, so that's what I'm doing. Would love to know if this is working as intended or is my account bugged.
Freedom is NOT live yet. The random activations thus far have been an unconfirmed stress test on the system before full blown F2P launch. Contact support if you like yet, but there are a lot of bugs I can see already in the system which I really hope they resolve before Freedom is officially launched.

Can play now but my characters are gone... Looking like I wont even bother with this game at all.
