I don't know about most of you but for me this is the place I go when my mmorpg experience is not sated. I come here when World of Warcraft bores me when im caught in the corner and don't know which way to go. I will log on and look for some reason to try a game a great game that will take my breath away.
Which brings up another question will there ever be a game that you think will be the end all be all for you. A love at first site if you will I mean hell you may divorce at some point but there has got to be a reason your going back to this site. Me? I just keep going back to the fridge to see if there are any new snacks. And one day i hope to see that cheescake waiting for me on the other side.
What I am getting at is are you looking for the same thing I am? Is there that perfect game? Right now GW2 would be amazing but we are talking about right now. Right now i would love to be playing a game i enjoy a lot.

Yep. I'm waiting around. Bored with everything.

Now this is very comicle. I have a life I am starting college in January but when I am at home can i not choose to be on this site rather than watch a T.V. show??
I'd be happy to find something even moderately entertaining. Doing 100 task quests to gain 1 level doesn't cut it for me. I'm too old and slow to enjoy PVP.
What I'd really like is grouped dungeon runs with friendlies who aren't elitists, antagonists or those who like to screw up a dungeon run because they think it's funny.
What I end up doing is finding grindy games with decent communities, and passing the time there. At least it's a way to feel like I'm at least playing something.
DMO?
yeah, dude. that's an average of five posts a day for six years.
oh, and i hang out here too. the early warning sign of gaming slump for me is visiting this site more than once every few days.
I finally realized today that the whole reason I keep doing the whole quit-restart-quit MMO cycle is because I greatly enjoy doing group stuff with friends (or guildies) but keep getting turned off by how shallow people are.
In WoW atleast, I always end up spending the better part of 2 weeks getting caught up gear wise only to realize that, in the end, those people I'm playing with are not actual people - they're manifestations of pure unadulterated greed who don't give a rat's fuck about me. This is a hard pill to swallow.
At least in Darkfall I was able to participate in guild everything after a week or so of grinding - I'm sure that wouldn't be the case anymore now that everyone has had 2+ years to bot their ways to uber-l33tness.
/sigh
I'm still waiting on a good game that has good graphics, dungeon crawls, and good people. Kinda like old OLD DAoC or pre-Ren. UO.

I feel you and you may have even touched up on something I haven't thought of maybe it is the people. But believe me if i had a sunny day everyday in a game with something to do and a night/day cycle a game fully put together like a tru FF style i would be perfectly content with playing with ass holes.
Yes that's true.
over the course of years. It's essentially 5 posts per day.
My day job is also being a paper pusher so I can process paperwork and in between look at forums and actually talk about games as most of my friends aren't interested in such things.
And when I'm not posting I play the classical guitar, I'm a composer, I also made my living as a harpist at one time and I take classes in play writing as well as literature. I'll be starting oil painting next semester and putting away some money for a European trip as I have yet to go.
So sure, over the course of many years and with my interest for games I have over 10k posts.
And when I read threads such as this I can't help wonering if some of the comments are said in jest or are true as I've met people who have nothing to do but play video games.
so the question was earnest.

Hey you said it and I responded. As I said above the question was earnest. if you say you are doing other things then that pretty much sates my curiosity.
Too many people on these sites who have nothing to do and are frittering away their lives with the ever populuar "I was bored".

Well sir I have a life and people take offence to such remarks like i said i have the choice when i get home i can stuff my face watch T.V. play ps3....call people? my list is getting shorter or try and play a game find a game or browse the forum and like previous posted I would think a 10k poster and contributor to this website would understand this fact? since he has spent the last 6 years posting 5 posts a day every single day.
edit: no offence just trying to find some common ground
Yes, very very very bored.
I don't think there will be a game that will ever be the end all be all. There will be games I'm sure htat I will love as I have at times in the past but every game, at least to me, eventually gets old and tired.
Since no one seemed to reply on this. I'm 99% sure it's Dark Millenium Online (40k mmo).
For me, guild wars 2 feels like it's going to be my cheesecake.
I took no offense, it was an honest question. over the years I've seen so many peopel who seem to just be frittering their time away in between games. I love it that people have passions for things and certainly I have 10k posts because I have a passion for games as well. But I just don't think we should be "waiting around" in between games as there is so much we can be doing in between games.
but clearly I crossed a line so I'll just apologize and and answer the nice gentlman who farts when he drinks merlot.

I laughed.. my thoughts exactly.
Waiting for Skyrim!
Lurking forums while waiting to try GW2, Wildstar, ArcheAge. Maybe 1 out of 3 will work. Odds seem good to an optimist.
Also *waiting* for Darkfall 2.0 because I don't want to sub now with all the uncertainty about whether there will be a wipe and to what extent, and no ETA. But I do also lurk the Darkfall forums because I love that game so much for what it has been and what it could be.
When I'm not lurking forums, I have recently gone back to WoW in small doses because I found a decent guild to have fun with and do my thing.
*facepalm* A person with more than 10k posts on a single website, telling the rest of us about the great experiences available outside of video gaming... I mean.. I guess its more ironic then funny... Or maybe a bit sad.. But I laughed either way hehe
This is all just a knee slapper to me haha.
A search for the perfect MMO is futile. The more you'll play, in your search, makes the idea of perfection even more distant.
No, I'm not looking for "that perfect game" because I know it can't exist.
No i do not think there will be a game that is THE game forever.I thought FFXI was so amazing on release,i thought that if they slowly improve this every year it will last forever. However the current trend of massive whining to solo in MMO lately has really soured this genre and FFXI became a victim to this.So my favorite game went from awesome to an absolute horror,so there is no way to ever know when even a great thing can go bad.
It is because of constant changes and developers always looking to make more profit that nothing will ever stay the same or last forever. So we wait for the next real good game to come out and hope when it goes south that a new one comes along,I dickered around in several mmo's prior to UT99,but that was my first loved MMO.So since about 99 the only game to really catch my eye was FFXI,that is 12 years for one awesome MMORPG game to come my way.If the timing holds true to 12 years and since 2003 was FFXI then it may very well be 2015 to see my next truly loved MMORPG.
Sure there are and will be lot's of playable games, but nothing i could remotely call THE game to last forever. If another FFXI rolls around,it probably will be my last final home for a mmorpg. After that i will probably join the other old fogies at POGO playing Euchre, spades,Bridge and Word Whomp lmao.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Lol your last paragraph made me laugh. I believe there will one be a world changing game hell maybe EVERYONE will play. Maybe we have to wait for virtual reality games where our minds are warped into the game like .hack//sign. Or maybe even sooner maybe it is GW2 or Archage or SOMETHING it is quite interesting to think about but either way... I have my fingers crossed for something
Have you seen the release schedule for gaming until March-2011?
It is insane!
