Nice stuff, but I think I'll hold off until the job patch hits. that's what I liked about FFXI and hopefully what will be the main catalyst for making FFXIV a better game as well. Hopefully they are coming like...next month or something hehe.
I might be wrong, but one of the fanbois in the "One year thread" said thatwith Patch 1.19 the gamne would be LESS relying on leves, but I see a load of new leves added to the game...

Along with other content.
Relying less doesn't mean they will be ignored altogether... and this is the first patch in the whole year that has added new leves.
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

They've been in the making for a long time, but I think somewhere between Dec.-January sounds likely.

The reason this "rational person" said that is because 1.19 is changing the following:
Guildleves no longer have to be done by any reset, they are no longer the equivelent of "dailies" in other MMO's. Now they exist as tasks which can be obtained by the player at any time. They are given through a ticket system for both Local (crafting), and Regional (gathering and battle) which the player accumulates every so often, in what works out to be a slightly slower rate than the current rate of reset, but can store up to 99 guildleve allowances at a time.
What this means is people no longer "have to do their guildleves" because it resets. So the game is centered less on guildleves, which means more people will be available to do other activities without having to "get their guildleves out of the way first"
XP chains up to 50%, and enemy linking bonuses up to 100% of XP, and changes to the player-mob level XP algorithm will make efficient party leveling significantly more rewarding.
Rather than stand alone content (as in content not used primarily for leveling) being mainly in guildleve form like earlier faction leves we now have Grand Companies and more open world content as delivery channels for such things.
So yes they did add in Grand Company guildleves (and something called Group guildleves which are hopefully truly group balanced guildleves instead of the sorry state of just attempting regular guildleves at 5*). Guildleves still exist, however they are neither relying on them as they did on launch nor will a typical player's experience center around their guildleves as it once did.
I personally feel these are great changes that will greatly improve the community's ability to interact with eachother and not be shackled to any "resets".
Still no ability to map your own keys, I'm not sure if this is in future patches but this is the new age of MMO's and most of the the new games out there your able to map your own keys.
Having the Razor Naga and Nostromo n52 its impossile to play FFXIV, so I was forced to play with a console gamepad.
This game is no doubt something special for the future but I see it being another year before it gets to where they should be allowed to think about charging sub's.
Damn, Yoshi-P is doing a damn fine job at bringing FFXIV up to snuff. And I'll be sure to log in and play at least for a little while, though I'm not sure for how long. {at least when I get bored of it, I'll start accumulating guildleves to do in another patch!}
I'm loving most of the changes and the direction everything is headed {though some are still WTF!}, however I still feel as though there are quite a few things missing, but hopefully once the new 'Job System' is added along with the new UI and the overhauled maps are complete I'll feel more inclined to play longer if not pay a subscription when that time comes around!

Well that timing sucks, I'll be knee deep in SWTOR in December/January and beyond.
This is a very impressive patch. All possitive things changing is the great thing. Give me a search function worth a damn and i'll be happy forever. Great job so far though for the new Dev team!

Not too bad for 2 months of dev time I guess.
What do you mean all they are adding are Chocobo's and Airships!
Oh and some recipe changes I guess...
I kid because I can, because they unbanned me. Thanks for being good sports mmorpg.com! I will cut you some slack from now on.

Seems to be shaping up. Few more patches and they may have a game that I will enjoy playing.
