Radeon's current flagship GPU is the HD 6970, which arrived shortly after their very successful 6800 series. These cards fall slightly behind the GTX 570 on most benchmarks, although the 6970's 2 GB of memory can give it an edge at very high resolutions like 2560x1600. HD 6970 cards tend be very large at about 11 inches long, and they need both 8-pin and 6-pin auxiliary power. They're in the same price range as the GTX 570 and they offer a similar value in terms of game performance. If you use more than two displays, most people find AMD’s Eyefinity easier than the alternatives.

This is what I built for my GF last November (she loves it). Being both gamers she deserved it (we were on laptops but we decided to go back to desktops for gaming). So I decided to do a video I put on YouTube with the parts I used (and a few other after it was built).
I (for myself) will be building a AMD system this holiday season using ASUS Sabertooth 990fx.
Ive not upgraded alot only videocard sinds 2009 and i wont upgrade for while becouse gaming industrie hold back and stuck in ancient XP era so no need to buy anything unless it brakes hehe.
My system runs very good very satisfied with this rig.
Got second rig also runs very well but its evga MB sli-Intel cpu duocore 8600 3.3ghz drr2 800mhz 8gig Geforce 8800gt PSU620 OS XP 32bit.
Internet 20mb down 2mb up connection.
Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!

I'll show that to the gf w/o the last line. She's got an old HP dx5150 with the Athlon 64 3000+, 1.5GB DDR, and an ATI HD 4550 1GB... she even still has the HP 15" LCD that came with it.
Course, my rig is older than toast (hers is older than bread, but mine's older than toast). No pix, I'm too ashamed - too embarassed.

Had thought about picking up two sticks of 2GB PC2-6400 for $45, but I never got around to it. Had thought about picking up an Athlon II X3/4 or Phenom II X2 for $70-100, but I never got around to it. Had thought about picking up a 64GB SSD for $115-150, but I never got around to it. Had thought about picking up a 12x Blu-Ray burner for $70, but I never got around to it. Had thought about picking up a 700W PSU for $80-120, but I never got around to it. My "bottleneck" is that WD system drive...meh.

Was a bitch to get inside of but I liked the challenge as I switch out this stuff all the time. Got the case really cheap and came with a full lighting system and emmaculate condtion which is pretty rare for these things. The temps inside were a little shady because it's an older case but I strapped a extra 120mm to the left of the HDD cage and my GPU temps stay at around 80C (75F ambient) at full load, which is pretty good for even good cases.
Whoa now. A "1000 W" power supply that doesn't have a single +12 V rail rated over 19 A? That's not a good sign. You'll likely never pull 500 W from it, but still.
