@just1opinion: Centipede! Ive seen that one pop up a few times now.

@Homitu: I was tempted to add Sonic and Knuckles instead of Sonic 3.

@Reizlanzer: I totally forgot about Rygar, damn! I should have made a top 100 list haha.

@GTwander: Actraiser is such a great game. I remember getting Actraiser 2 and promptly getting the crap kicked out of me. That was a ridiculously hard game heh.

@Bladestrom: The R-Type series always has a place in my heart. Such great sound and style to that series. I'm also a huge fan of the Raiden Fighter series for the same reasons.

@HoskTheCub: I love Yie-Ar Kung Fu.. but Best fighting game?

    @Gravarg: /salute to a Nintendo fan

@FrodoFragins: I don't remember Super PunchOut! in the arcade. I had it on snes though and it rocks.

@Unlight: I feel your pain. Luckily, I live in a city that has an amazing arcade that is alive and kicking. As well as a very healthy and active classic gaming and pinball community.

Well... it's all subjective and I'm sort of struggling in how to determine what is best since everything is like comparing apples and pears.

Yie Ar Kung Fu has shown that it manages to uphold two basic pillars that is part of being a great game:

    1) I finished it (Although failing so many times as a child it was entertaining enough to keep me struggling to see the next fight until I finished it. Games that are longer than they can keep me interested are inherently flawed. Seeing the end is important to me).

    2) Surviving the test of time. (Whenever I start the game it is still as fun as the first time I played it. Many of the other games that were fun at their time was it because they pushed the limits in some way, either with graphics, number of moves etc. Yie Ar Kung Fu just has that combination of correct game balance, music, atmosphere and gameplay that makes it immortal even though built with simple tools. If you consider game making to be an art, then Yie Ar Kung Fu is a masterpiece. It is really easy to find a flaw in a game, it is so hard to do in a masterpiece.)

I cant jsut do Video games as other forms of games have made me who I am as a gamer.

    I'll start from the begining

    1. AD&D 2nd Edition

    2. Shadowrun

    3. Legend of Zelda

    4. Shining in the Darkness (Sega genesis)

continued with Dungeons and Dragons for the next 8 years when I discovered:

    5.  Magic the Gathering  (won my first Mox tourney at Mighty Micks in Nashville when I was stationed at Ft Campbell, from there I went on to make over 14k in winnings either through selling my tourney winnings or cash games, at one point I owned 7 Black lotuses and2-3 sets of the complete power 9)  Eventually went to PTNY in 1999 when one of the pros there told me about a new game called ASHERONS CALL.  I choose AC over EQ because of the PvP.

    6. Asherons Call

    7. DAoC (hated the leveling and eventually bought an account to RvR with)

    8. back To AC

    9. CoH  (was fun but mainly a time sink till WoW)

    10. WoW

    11. Every single well known named WoW clone starting with AoC, LoTRO, WAR, Aion, but always ended back at WoW within 2 months

    12. Rift

13  Back at Asherons Call, where I am today, but waiting onSkyrim, Reckoning then GW2.  Will be passing on SWToR since ive been burnt on themepark WoW clones every single time.

Everything you need to know about Elder Scrolls Online

    Playing: GW2
    Waiting on: TESO
    Next Flop: Planetside 2
Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.

Before there was Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, there was...Yie Ar Kung Fu.  My parents dragged me to a campground in upstate New York as a kid and there was a rec room with a few games including this one.....oh the quarters I dumped into it.....

Earth and Beyond - EA's cancellation created a deep hatred within me of them...lol.

Auto Assault - I pre-ordered the CE of this game.  I was so looking forward to it.  Had a good beta.  Launches... "Hey, is anybody else here?"

Damn it, a 43rd?  Heh, not 40 or less - but I saw your thing about Street Fighter.  I almost flunked out of college when I found the recroom and started playing Street Fighter 2 instead of going to classes...

Great List.  I would add Dig Dug, and Bards Tale

I self identify as a monkey.

It is unequalled. I remember my times playing BattleTech vividly even though it was back in the day. I STILL have my old BattleTech card lol.
