swg is a quest to become jedi knight while waiting for the phase to change you can do other stuff
Eve has thousands of planets to fly your ship around

When they release their expansion it will allow corps to build on and develop claim planets for their own and go to other planets and destroy stuff on them and hunt monsters

Can you imagine the work it would take to make it so each planet had stuff to do on it? Most games excluding SWG that I know of only consist of one world....and developers have a hard enough time of making one world/planet properly...let alone thousands.
Eve is an great game I am glad to see they are still growing but the thing that sets me off of the game is there isnt much to do. Its basicly mine missions pvp (and build stuff if you go that route) and it gets kinda old after a few months. If they maybe added some more to do I would be hooked monkey

Thing about eve is it gives you freedom to make up what to do!
Maybe you should try corp theft? Scam people, become a pirate and steal money etc etc :P

ok, in most games all there is to do is "resource gather", "quests", and "kill things".
sounds like any game out there.
Admittedly the "missions" in eve are fairly average - WoW does missions much much better (of course that basically all there is)
What keeps bringing me back to eve is the ability of corps/alliances to claim territory, build up infrastructure, and build up a working economy/industrial base. Its the closest thing out there to a real "virtual world" with repercusions for activities, politics etc.
as a solo game, eve sucks, but as a multiplayer game for guilds, nothing beats it in my opinion.

Yes, in order to enjoy EVE you have to get into the player-driven content together with other players ... soloing the game gets old after a few months, but the real fun part of EVE is joining together with other players and playing in the sandbox that CCP has created ... I've yet to find another MMO that provides that kind of player-driven content experience to the same extent that EVE has.
Even as a solo player I've had a blast in Eve. The ship configuration aspect of Eve is so deep. Your character learns skills, you purchase ships with basic characteristics, your character skills modify those characteristics, you purchase ship components that modify ship characteristics, and finally your character skills can modify ship component characteristics. Given that there are many skills, a multitude of ship components, and many different kind of ships, building an optimal ship from the frigate up to the battle ship level is a big challenge for any player.
Compare the Eve approach to character/ship building (the two are intertwined) to any other MMORPG character development system. You will find that Eve gives players the most flexibility in character development. Any character can learn any skill. When compared to a class based system such as EQ or WOW, the Eve advantage becomes apparent. For example, let's say in EQ you start a fighter and then wish you could cast spells like a Wiz. You can't train your fighter in spell casting. In Eve, if you decide that your character should learn to fly a different type of ship or learn to use laser guns, then you simply buy the skill and train in it. This system gives flexibility advantages to developers and players alike (think NERF and the consequences to players in a class based system verses a skill based system).

Not gonna happen. The game isn't built that way and honestly after learning the game aspects if they did add that, it would completely detract from the game.

That can happen, after Titans and other stuff are out (2007 I think), but not like you can have an adventure on every planet. But that you can settle up colonies on planets or something like that, and manage them like space stations. Im fine with EVE the way it is atm, tho.

Guys get over it. EVE and SWG are two entirely different games. They appeal to different types of players. Personally I find Eve's spaceflight unrealistic and boring. Others really enjoy it.
Both are good Sci-Fi MMO's.
And, I would dispute that SWG is just a quest to become Jedi... I've played for over a year now and I'm not a jedi nor do I currently have any plans to become one. I enjoy the heck out of my character and have a blast playing the game.
Comparing SWG to EVE is about as silly as comparing Pac-Man to Joust... they're entirely different games.
Both have good and bad points and they appeal to entirely different style players.

I agree with your point that EVE and SWG ought not be compared because they are really different, but your comment touches on one of my hot buttons about EVE and other space games.
EVE's approach to ship flying is that of an RPG ... point and click, with the reults being dependent on your character's in-game skill, and not your own out-of-game hands. It takes the approach to spaceship piloting that other games take to being a warrior ... since when does your manual strength and dexterity in the real world impact what a typical MMO warrior or magic user (or bounty hunter or jedi knight, for that matter) do in the game? It doesn't, your character's skills do. That, to me, is the mark of an RPG.
Now the interesting thing is that when it comes to space flight, people all of a sudden don't want that, they want to control what the ship is doing themselves with their out of game skills, more like a flight sim type game. While these are fun games, they're not RPGs in the sense that the abilkity to control the ship that way is based on your out-of-game skills really, and not your character's in-game skills. But a lot of people don't like that. They're happy enough that their warrior is point and click, but climb into a spaceship and they want to control everything blow by blow themselves. Its because of the influence of space sims and flighht sims and the influence they have had in setting expectations. In reality, many people have tried EVE and walked away because they couldn't control their ships, but they have no issue having the same degree of control over their ships in EVE as they do over their warrior in EQ. It's a double standard, but it is what it is.
SWG took a flight sim approach to its space expansion, and most people like it because you control things up there and your ability to succeed up there is to a large degree dependent on your out of game ability to control the ship ... that is, on the players ability and not the character's skills. I'm not criticizing SOE for that decision because EVE has made it pretty clear that a lot of people, even folks who are used to the character building approach having played many MMOs, simply expect not to take that approach to space flighth. But, to me, it makes the space aspect of SWG less of an RPG because again it is my skills out of the game, my coordination and reflexes out of the game, that help me succeed, and that's really not the approach of an RPG at all.
Obviously everyone should play what they find fun, but this particular issue is a hot button of mine.

If Eve had "twitch" combat (but with your characters skills still having some effect) that would make it no less of an RPG. Eve is a virtual world which relies on the interaction of human players- twitch combat would not detract from this world or roleplaying in this world. Role playing and RPGs should not mean "point n click" combat (in any genre). The sooner mmorpg players realise this the sooner we get games with more exciting combat.
Twitch combat would improve an already excellent game.

So you say. If Eve was twitch I wouldn't be playng it now. I don't want to play a figther sim, this is capital ship combat for the most part not sitting in a cockpit. I don't go into space much in SWG for the simple fact that its just a remake of x-wing vs. tie fighter with a few additions, I surely don't want to deal with that in Eve. Eve is perfect the way it is for travel. It makes sense.
